  1. Thank you for that, I am grateful for all suggestions BUT it looks like I'll have to stick with Dx9 for now...or until I get a new rig Like stated flying to normal airports with sliders maxed I get quite presentable frames 20-25. So I thought I'd give it a try at an enhanced busy type airport with AI,On approach it gave 20-25 ....parked a bit less but it was doable and stutter free under Dx9. Again with Dx10 frames down by half Thank you Rob
  2. Well ..an update Deleted the config.sys and it built a new one Differences ..it reset my sliders from max to about half way, changes screen resolution from 1920 down to 1024 x 768 lost all my previous gauge additions etc ... and made no difference at all. As with 1st pic under DX9 locked at 30 fps still showing 30 fps .. under DX10 locked at 30 fps showing about 17 fps. As stated with my low end system with everything maxed over heavy forest etc where the autogen kicks in I still manage an average of 20-25 fps which gives smooth performance with my low and slow flying, so there is no need to turn any of the sliders down. I'll just have to live without stormy weather where I do get significant frame drop ..that is the main reason I wanted to give DX10 a try since I've been reading all the posts about all the improvements others are getting. Rob
  3. Never tried DX10 but have the option so ticked the box, applied V3.2.2 shader fix booted up and ..lost 1/2 my frame rates. Reading other posts most seem to get a significant improvement ...maybe something lacking in my system ?? I've been told that I have a low end system ..NO graphics card ..have the Intel family graphics with 1.6G built into the processor chip itself. Even so with all sliders at max ..except autogen down 1 notch from extreme to very dense. Cars 17% boats and ferries around 80% (after 10 years with FS9 I simply must have cars and boats) Frame rates locked at 30fps , sitting on my base tarmac under DX9 NO hit Identical shot with DX10 ..down by 1/2 ? My system does suffer if I try JFK or LAX and under stormy weather with black clouds drops to about 10-12 fps BUT it doesn't matter I fly low and slow (ORBX areas US and OZ with about 22-30 range) with Fair weather theme .. water 2xHigh (from mem) more than happy based on what I have, Intel I5 2.6G 8 Gig memory ASUS motherboard Win 7 64 I am loath to change my current config sys because it gives stable performance.1 year with FSX no CTD's ,black screens , freezes so Far...but here it is in case the more expert can shed some light on the poor performance under DX10. No flashing runways or lights BUT 1/2 my hanger aircraft have lost their textures ..pure white ..tires and all and only a few out of the thousands of WOAI AI aircraft are also white (about 10%) I would like to buy the new release DX10 fix but not at that sort of cost to performance [GRAPHICS] SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED_10=1693500672 SHADER_CACHE_PRIMED=1693500672 D3D10=1 HIGHMEMFIX=1 4. I had really hoped that my previous post would be the last on the subject but there seems to be a bit of confusion here so I will make this my last post on the matter and as you suggested move on with my life. Believe me I've gotten over it already. As to your assumption I did not validate then and I STILL have not validated now. For decades I have belonged to many forums, some Flight Sim some gardening and other interests and I have nevet encountered a site like theirs so did NOT understand the rules. I did register ,got a password, logged in and thought that was it.Had I thought in my wildest dreams that at some arrbitrary point later I would get locked out because of this I might have done things differently And before you say this was all explained in the videio..as I have stated previously I could not watch the video, every time I clicked on it all I got was a red cross. I tried, I couldn't and still cant. Maybe the solution is to change browsers but I happen to like the one I am using, it performs well, I am comfortable with it SO THE sequence of events in chronological order I registerd , signed on and posted freely for a few weeks. In that time I bought 6 areas from them which performed flawlessly. Number 7 NRM I was looking forward to because it contains my Hub airport Loaded up my airpoprt, sitting in a trench surrounder by walls Posted the problem in the appropriate forum area, with my order # and details. Got immediate reply from Tim who posted a suggestion Didn't work Posted back got another suggestion didnt work Logged on several hours later and was greeted with You are not allowed to visit this community Now what is a REASONABLE person to think ..how in the name of (anything) could I deduce from that statement as to why I was in the middle of trying to resolve a problem, no luck ...You are not allowed to visit this community. Maybe I am not a reasonable person but it occured to me that I may have somehow been out of line. So sent an email to administrator as requested below that sign Got immediate reply from the auto bot saying that my message was received and MAY or MAY NOT be answered ..usually beyween 24-48 hours Now I don't care what sort of mathematics you want to use , I was locked out on a Friday, got back in on a Monday A little outside the "usual" 48 hours and knowing already that I may NOT be getting a reply again what is a reasonable person to think. 3 days had passed I am still sitting in a trench, I still can't log on'. and I still havent received a reply. Now I dont want to knitpick over a few hours or days ..I do not possess a crystal ball, I did not know if I would ever get a reply.. . In the meantime I tried every suggestion offered here, clicked every link, tried to get back to the validation screen BUT alway got the same message as you can see above After which I became a little annoyed and learnt a new word in the process. So what ever terminology you want to use, i did get back in and received some wonderfull support from Mr Sandman whom I happen to admire greatly for the great work he did for the Fs9 community with Glacier Bay, Bella Coola, and Columbia valley..all freebies. In the end we didn't totally fix it but it is workable, he tried , did his best and that is all I ever expect and I did appreciate his efforts and thanked him for it.. I was satisfied. If you failed to grasp that from my previous post then I must have worded it poorly. In saying that I hoped I wouldnt have to go back there again I merely meant that the next ORBX product I bought would work properly and there would be no need. I have absolutely no problem with the people who tried to help, they make a good product. My problem is with the choice and style of their wording. Had I seen .. "Your account is temporarily suspended because you did not post in the Validation thread, please do so so we can re-instate you" I would have known immediately what the problem was and would have acted differently, even if I had to get a different browser for a short while. In the end as you say my fault I did not follow the proper procedure, I would have but didn't know how. And as tou your suggestion that I should have posted my opinions about their site on their forum, I did consider it but have since read all the posts here as to what happens to this type of post there so thought it probably wasn't worth it. I am over it I am satisfied I will get on with my life Robert
  5. For those who have been following my little saga here and wished me well I am glad to report that it has been sorted out (sort off) in the end This has really been an unpleasant experience in the past week During that time I managed to upset one person from ORBX here but I did learn a new word "COGNOSCENTI" (had to look it up) and I got the feeling that I irritated another , but after being confronted for 4 days in a row with "YOU ARE NOT allowed to visit this Community" well I hope they understand. Even after beeing allowed back in I felt distinctlly uncomfortable being there and didn't linger or look at anything else appart from my post. I don't know, maybe thats unreasonable, its just how I feel. Hopefully I wont have to go there again When I 1st came here I had no idea there were so many dissgruntled people here and so many negative comments about how they go about things but I do understand. Cheers Robert
  6. To be perfectly honest, it makes me wonder why on earth I have bothered to make the effort. In future I will not. You post here, you are in the hands of theI 'cognoscenti' present. Good luck with that. I am sorry to have upset you hcornea., it was not my intention and I do appreciate your efforts. I have a certain style with words and it was probably the frustration showing through. JayKae And as for not following the proper procedures and NOT watching the video ..I would have done so if I could but it probably needs Flash player which I do not have installed... all I had was a red cross, no video ...MY fault I know. Anyway I am glad its all over. The fact remains had I not posted here at avsim the problem may never have been resolved. My apologies Robert
  7. thanx nojwod, I'll be visiting a computer friend in a few days and I'll try from there. It appears that I can send them messages because their password bot sent me a new one The administrator bot sent me a confirmation that my message was received. I don't know if they've dumped me but its been 4 days and nothing at all from their admainistrator end I did send two messages ..no reply. I have no idea why they do things this way but if I've been dumped then so be it. Ironically I've had lots of time the last 4 days to think about this and I have in a fashion been able to solve the problem so if they won't help me then it doesnt really matter any more. Averything works fine, I can see the new autogen and landclass, very nice. AS you can see from the Spokane airport I am sitting in a trench...and same in all the other 69 NRM airports which are located in the scenery]world\scenery folder These are their elevation_asjustment.bgls so I experimented by removing them and PRESTO ..no more trenches. I am now able to land on the runways and they are flat and level as should be, so it appears that their own bgls caused the problem. This however can not be the proper solution since they have sold thousands of NRM packages and I haven't seen anybody else reporting this problem so it must be unique to my system for some reason. I repeat again appart from ORBX stuff I have nothing else installed that could be a conflict. For all I know they may in fact have posted a solution but I have no way of knowing since its impossible for me to get access to my post. Such is life Robert
  8. Believe me I have clicked everything imaginable and its always the same as the cheery picture I posted above. Its rapidly getting to the stage where I don't really care. I am having several emotions about the ORBX people and how they do things .. annoyance, frustration and several others I won't mention I am not even sure if I am guilty of the crime that caused my banning,or Lock out (same thing really) How on earth can you work out whats happening when confronted with a message like that It was only here that I found out that I wasn't banned .. They have a lost password bot ..sent me a new one ..No luck They have an administrator bot which informed me that my message was received and May OR May not be answered So why could't they have a bot with a message along the lines ... your account has been temporarily locked .. or what ever. At least then I would have known where I stood I have only ever had the 1 problem with a product and this was my 1st time I asked for actual support. They run their site differently than here, or anywhere else I've been. Here I can browse and read all posts , I only have to sign in if I wish to post. There I have to log in before I can access ALL the various sections, whether I wish to post or not. Since I have been locked out for the past three days there is no way I can actually verify if indeed i did post in the wrong section, I went to the place where everyone else posted "issues" they were having with installs. gave my purchase order # and Date purchased. I have no beef with Tim , he did his best and offered several suggestions, nothing worked. They asked me to post pictures, gave me a link to a tutorial, that didn't work either. There posting pictures is a little more complicated then here ..if you are familiar with their site you know what I mean. I took some snaps and would have been glad to post them BUT couldn't get it to work.. This is what my problem looks like Since I may or not get back in there maybe someone here has an idea how to fix it. There are absolutely NO conflicts with anything else on FSX since I don't have anything else except UTX and that would not case this problem. In the end the ORBX people have every right to run their site any way thay wish and treat their customers in the same manner. Fortunately we customers also have options ..woting with our wallets. From what I was able to gather before my lock out sales of England were going through the roof so whats one customer less in the long term Any way I feel better now hoving got that of my chest. Cheers Rob
  9. Thanx pete ..I am always amazed just how helpfull the flightsim community is. I tried everything .. believe me Clicked every link, my usual browser is Google ..never have any problems here or anywhwer else and neither at ORBX for the 3 weeks or so since I joined since this lockout for whatever reason Also tried YAHOO, Google Chrome always the same cheery result as per the picture above..getting a little frustrating and my doctor assures me thats not good at my age  Anyway I realize that they are very busy administrators there so may have to wait a few more days to see if indeed I do get a reply and solution. In the meantime I guess I'll do my flying out of the unresolved problem area. Thank you ALL for your ideas and support Regards Robert
  10. Thank you guys for your continued interest...JUST TO clarify 1 thing I have only ever joined 2 forums Here and the other place. and last ORBX I use a slightly different sign in name to keep things orderly here its robierob at ORBX its RobertBob ..easily remebered with a slight variation. So if Pete can see my post that is indeed the one. So am I banned ? if youve read it pete was I out of place somehow. I thought it may be a log in problem so i requested another password and used the same username with the new password What else can I do Rob
  11. thanxs for that pete I did in fact supply my order details etc as required in the SUPPORT forum ..not the General forum. Any suggestions ..the emails I sent to the administrators asking why have gone unanswered ALL i ever get when trying to log on is SORRY you do not have permission for this YOU ARE NOT allowed to visit this Community At this stage I don't know if Tim has supplied any information since , I havent been able to log on for 2 days ,cant even just READ the forums to see what new developments have occurred its always SORRY you do not have permission for this YOU ARE NOT allowed to visit this Community Like i said in the previous post I am hopeing that this is just a missunderstanding and was looking for solutions here since nothing has been forthcoming from their administrator Rob
  12. zoran ..YEs and YES, like I said I have only had Fsx for 2 months and only learned about ORBX in that time. NRM was the only download that was problamatical and this is the only time I have asked for actuall support ..how can this be to much. I have asked other questions NOT SUPPORT ..such as to what to buy next and how to install it properly since FSX is all new to me. They always answerded promptly..never a hint or suggestion that I was asking to often ar anything like that flying_bob ..I'd be astonished if that is their attitude. As I've said in 4 weeks I have bought 7 different areas from them and planned to continue with one each week. Surely they would not treat potential NEW customers that way..or maybe sales are going to well for them to care. I am still hopeing that this is all some sort of missunderstanding and there may be a problem with their site..BUT ..since I get no answers to my email re reason why I an still in the dark 2 days later. So if it is indeed the case that I have been banned for whatever reason I guess I'll have to be satisfied with what I already have. seeimg SORRY you do not have permission for this YOU ARE NOT allowed to visit this Community seems depressing Rob
  13. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I have had FSX for about 2 months and in that time I have bought 7 different areas from them...yes I was that impressed When I've had a Q or 2 I have always been courteous and to the point. Never insulted anyone Never argued with anyone Never dissparaged their products..in fact the opposite, I have always praised the quality. The 1st 6 installs went without a hitch. Number 7 was problamatical..I bought NRM and had issues with terrain elevation adjustments and asked for advice. A gentleman named Tim tried hard , several suggestions, even sent me replacement files NOTHING worked. In the end I was asked to post screenshots and directed to a tutorial. That did not work either , so I requested alternative advice. And that was the last time I've been able to log onto their site. Everytime I go there now I get the cheery message ... SORRY you do not have permission for this YOU ARE NOT allowed to visit this Community Now this has me completely non plused. My only crime (as I know..note the above comments) was to report back that the last suggestion did not work and asked for more advice. What have I done ??? I sent a request to the administrator for instructions ..one of the replies on their list is that Spammers are not welcome (I have no idea what that is) Another reply was that If you have been banned from this site you will not receive an answer. So far no reply ?? so I guess I may have been banned for a reason not apparent to me..appart from possibly that they can't resolve my problem and don't want to hear from me again. Has anybody had a similar experience ?? or can offer insights as to what may have happened. I requested another password in case the original had been corrupted and the bot gave me one. So I logged in again .. same SORRY you do not have permission for this YOU ARE NOT allowed to visit this Community Anyone insights anyone Rob
  14. Hi , my 1st post here. this week I updated my old XP system for a new rig which came with Win 7 installed and all the associated problems (for me anyway) when transferring from a stable and reliable XP where everything installed without a glitch and operated flawlessly. Reading everything I could from other posters I managed to get ALMOST everything back... all but my beloved Ez_landmarks which I really like. I can not get past the 1st step where it states that it was not meant for a 64 bit operating system and to contact the supplier...which I did , sent an email to abacus days ago but doesn't seem like there will be a reply. Then Googled for a solution and came up with several hits all eminating from this forum. A few posters stated that they had it up and running without problems BUT unfortunatelly no one said how they installed it. Those posts are several years old so I thought I'd try here to see if someone can help me. I installed in the following way..... Clean install so not to bring accross some of the old clutter . Installed in C;\Fs9 Had activation keys for all my bought program and installed the following Ultimate Terrain GE Pro2 FsPassangers World wide 19m 38m 76m mesh Ez Scenery ..from the same people which installed and operates no problems --------------------------------------------------------- Other stuff such as HD clouds alternate water alternate trees etc Traffic tools -------------------------------------------------------- I originally had slight hicups with FsPassangers and Ez Scenery where the screen sometimes went blank but then I did a troubleshoot and Win 7 suggested that I run Fs9 in XP Service Pack 2 mode which I did and now everything works perfectly. All but Ez-Landmarks without which its just not the same.... can not even install it because of the 64 bit thing. I have a fairly basic rig ... upon 1st load of Fs9 I ran on Unlimited frame rates and got between 45-50, now I have it locked on 28fps where it stays without dropping much at all Basic specs Intel Celleron dual core 2.6 4 Gig memory 1 gig graphics 500 Gig hard drive (440 free) So if someone can get my EZ-Landmarks up and running I would be gratefull Regards Rob
