  1. Yes I agree. The same goes for FSDT with Houston and Vancouver. I would like to know how much time and effort it takes to make an FSX airport compatible for FS2004, and are there enough sales nowadays for FS2004 payware packages to make a profit?
  2. The best I could find was VOZ for most major airports in Australia, including Sydney Kingsford Smith (YSSY). This is freeware and well worth installing. I also bought the Auscene Sydney Professional X thinking it would be a huge step up looking at the pictures, but it turned out they were using FSX pictures and showing them as FS2004. The FS2004 scenery was terrible, and I am being kind here!! As far as New Zealand is concerned I have not found anything - sadly neglected. It begs the question - why do developers keep releasing updated versions of international airports which are already good, or even worse, airports which you have never heard of unless you are a local? There are international airports such as Auckland, Beijing and Johannesburg for example, which are major airports and yet sadly no good sceneries exist:-(
  3. Hi The POSKY (now called SkySpirit) Boeing 777 - does anyone know how to remove the container loaders which automatically appear when the cargo doors are opened? I much more prefer to have the AES team coming up to the aircraft instead. Thanks Rich
  4. I recently stumbled across this package when searching how to uninstall another texture add-on which I did not like. I only fly commercial flights, so spend most of my time at airports or at 36,000 feet. I am however always looking for ground textures that look better and more realistic for when I go to spot view or come in to land etc. Obtaining the download files from Sascha was very efficient and the installation very easy. The first impression was wow, what a difference, and a positive one at that!! I did 2 flights, one from Istanbul to Athens (daytime), the other from Athens to Bucharest (nighttime). First thing I noticed with the daytime flight was that the scenery far away in the distance, which is always blurry (this is something I believe most simulators have) was more prominent than before. This may be due to the more in depth colour and detail of the textures, hence it is more noticeable. I did however manage to tweak my FS9.cfg file to cope with this better, plus I rarely have flights with totally clear skies to view the ground below at a distance. I also changed a couple of things, such as the water textures (I have an excellent Payware package which allows me to choose the colour and wave pattern) and I also have excellent tree and grass texture packages. The nighttime flight was also a huge improvement. I previously had a payware nighttime package and 3D lights package, but these never looked right and so I always tried to avoid night flights. Now however the look is so realistic I cannot wait to fly at night again. Yet again I did make a small change though, as personally I do not like blurry lights, so I changed the halo.bmp file back to what I had previously, which now gives me a much sharper and precise light affect. Overall there is only one small thing I do not like, but this may just be a personal thing, and that is the green wiggly lines which I assume represent streams/rivers? I just wish these were not so obvious. On the whole this is a fantastic package and one that anyone using FS9 would be a fool not to get. Sascha deserves a lot of praise and thanks for the hard work and effort that has gone into this, and unlike many developers nowadays, it is reassuring that there are a small few who still remember that there are many of us still using FS9!! Rich
  5. Sydney Professional X by Auscene - available from Simmarket. My problem is on FS2004 not FSX - none of the 4 FS2004 discs have a repair function do they?
  6. Hi I accidentally removed a scenery file from SCENERY/CITIES folder, the folder being SYDNEY. Here's the series of events as to what happened: 1) Bought a new version of YSSY 2) Had previous payware YSSY scenery from a company called CLS (although did not remember who at the time this happenned) 3) Found a folder called "Sydney Professional" in Add-on Scenery folder so asusmed this was whole airport 4) Deleted from sceenry list in FS, clsoed FS and then removed folder 5) Installed new YSSY and opened FS. Saw some of the older scenery showing through 6) Closed FS and uninstalled new YSSY 7) Opened FS and could see some buildings etc from original payware. Not knowing where it was coming from I closed FS and did a search for YSSY, Nothing found - so did a search for Sydney. It found the Sydney folder. Thinking this was the culprit I removed it (cut it from FS main folder but kept it on my desktop just in case). 8) Opened FS and it came up with error saying it could not find Sydney - so closed FS again. 9) Reinstalled the Sydney folder from where it came from. Opened FS and no error. Tried to start a flight and when it got to 77% "loading weather..." it just crashed. 10) Thought maybe I should reinstall Sydney from inside FS scenery, but when I tried this it said it already installed. So I deleted original entry and closed FS. 11) Opened FS again and installed Sydney. This time it allowed me to do it. Tried to load flight but same result. I have checked the scenery.cfg file and Sydney is showing, so I do not understand why it continues to not allow me to start. I have since tried using an earlier scenery.cfg file from before this error occured, and also tried using FlightSim Manager, but still the same problem. I have also since identified the old payware scenery folder and uninstalled it properly, but still the problem continues. Surely just removing this folder and then reinstalling it can stop the whole FS program from functioning? Has anyone heard of this happening before? Rich
  7. Hi Sauviat I have tried starting from everywhere, always the same result. Do Microsoft still have support for this and hence is it worth asking them? I asked on another forum about this problem and was just advised best to reinstall FS9. Rich
  8. Yes I have tried to identify the cause but without success. I have been using FS9 without any problems for over 2 years now. I have many many add-ons and never had a problem with any of them. I also had an external HD which mirrored my PC HD, so in the event of a problem I could just reinstall. Sod's law however, when I went to try this option the external HD had become corrupted, hence no good!! I have reinstalled several times in the past, so am well aware of all files to back up and move across etc. I also have all my payware scenery installation files in one folder and a list of all the keys/registreation codes, so am well prepared. RC4 is a different kettle of fish though, as this sits outside of FS9 but interacts with it, hence why I was asking. The cause of my FS9 crashing is that I accidentally removed a default scenery (the SYDNEY folder). I reinstalled it but FS9 will now never load a flight - gets as far as 77% "installing weather" and then just stops. Have tried a restore, replacing the scenery.cfg file with a previous one, also tried FlightSim Manager, but nothing has worked.
  9. Hi I have come to a point where I have to uninstall FS9 as I have problems with it crashing. I have been using RC4 for some months now - what is the procedure, do I uninstall RC4 as well and then reinstall once FS9 is loaded again, or can I just leave it and back up sime files instead? I am not reformatting the HD or anything like that. Many thanks Rich
