I have a G2 as well. I am not exaggerating my performance boost for for VR. I can hardly believe it myself. I’ve thought about newer VR headsets coming as well, but it is worthless to get a higher resolution headset if you struggle with the G2. I can run the G2 at a much higher resolution by upping the reader settings past 100%, but then I will start to need to use re-projection. OpenXR Tools Settings: Preview Runtime = ON Render Settings = 100% All other settings are off VR Settings: DX12 Anti-Aliasing = TAA Render Setting = 100 (3160X3088) ** The HP Reverb G2 native display is 2160x2160 ** I bumped up the render setting for additional clarity, but it’s not really needed while using TAA. I can bump the resolution to well over 4000 x 4000 but of course I will start to lose FPS, but the clarity is beyond belief. 😳 AMD Sharpening = 100 Reprojection = OFF Nvidia Reflex = OFF Global Rendering Quality = ULTRA , FPS=48 fps at heliport, 60fps while flying over city. Global Rendering Quality = HIGH-END , FPS=60 fps Global Rendering Quality = MEDIUM, FPS=65 fps Global Rendering Quality = LOW-END, FPS=83 fps I have not done any tweaks to my computer or MSFS at all.

If you can go for a 4090. My last upgrade was a RTX 3090, 10900KF and I still had to make a lot of compromises. With the 4090, 13900k I am seeing vast improvement in VR. I had no expectation that I would be able to set everything on ultra VR and get 50 fps, over NY City, without DLSS or re-projection. Butter smooth!

There really are rarely half-measures when it comes to MSFS and VR. As for glasses inserts, you can use Zinni Optical. $10 https://www.zennioptical.com/p/metal-alloy-full-rim-frame-with-spring-hinges/5500?skuId=550021 I recommend this lens adapter: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4716449 Counterweight: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4793296 FOV mods: https://www.thingiverse.com/search?q=Hp+reverb+g2+fov&page=1&type=things&sort=relevant I think they still have a feature on the website that will allow you to send it to someone with a 3-D printer—and of course, I got tired of doing that and broke down and bought a 3-D printer. Good luck in your quest and prepare for your wallet to cry.

New rig this week...
SimPlaneDriver replied to vonduck's topic in Virtual Reality (VR) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I use DX12, everything Ultra. I might get better fps in DX11. Default bios settings. I will eventually get around to tweaking stuff as needed, but I am thrilled that I don’t really need to. My FPS sitting at Downtown Manhattan Airport (KJRB) with Guimbal Cabri G2 Helicopter, Noon with clear weather preset. All other settings, such as traffic reset to default. My Computer: 13900k, RTX 4090, 32GB, Nvidia driver 527.37 OpenXR Tools Settings: Preview Runtime = ON Render Settings = 100% All other settings are off VR Settings: DX12 Anti-Aliasing = TAA Render Setting = 100 (3160X3088) AMD Sharpening = 100 Reprojection = OFF Nvidia Reflex = OFF Global Rendering Quality = ULTRA FPS=48 fps Global Rendering Quality = HIGH-END FPS=60 fps Global Rendering Quality = MEDIUM FPS=65 fps Global Rendering Quality = LOW-END FPS=83 fps All other settings are off VR Settings: DX12 Anti-Aliasing = TAA Render Setting = 100 (3160X3088) AMD Sharpening = 100 Reprojection = OFF Nvidia Reflex = OFF Global Rendering Quality -

Congratulations on the new rig. I also upgraded to a similar machine, and can finally crank up the VR settings to Ultra. No need to use reprojection or DLSS anymore. I’m starting to think I won’t need to upgrade further for MSFS. Maybe one more upgrade in two years for good measure? -
It is described a bit on the official MSFS forum. Scroll down the page a bit to see what it’s about. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/168-nanovg-is-now-the-default-rendering-method/529280/4

Glad to hear it. Maybe a feature on your YT channel? -

Agreed. I would also like to increase the volume of AI traffic to a realistic level as well. -

I haven’t tried this mod but it seems to be what you may need. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/range-magic-tool-long-distance-fading-fix-for-airshows-other-events-by-flight-simulator-airshows/530842 -

In MSFS You're Not A Person, You're A Camera
SimPlaneDriver replied to Ricardo41's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
And it would qualify as part of the simulation of flying. The only thing some people might quibble about is weather or not you need a drone or an avatar. It doesn’t hurt to have either option for me. I hope that someday Asobo will include all modules for sailing and driving and space, that could be purchased apart from MSFS but could be combined into a unified simulation as desired. From there, developers could dream up ways to monetize it. -

I wouldn’t mind if Microsoft partnered with Rockstar and licensed some of their character animation from GTA— although I’m certain we would never get the fun stuff. 😉 -
Poll: Significant problems after SU9 install?
SimPlaneDriver replied to Noel's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Works great for me in VR. I made sure to get the latest Nvidia drivers. I use VR and also updated to the latest build of OpenXR Toolkit. https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/ I'm getting 45+ fps flying in the Bay Area. -
Milvitz 310R VS FSW 414W
SimPlaneDriver replied to bean_sprout's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
if anyone is interested, you can watch live development of the Flysimware Cessna 414. The developer was working on autopilot logic last night and accepting input from others in the chat. https://discord.com/invite/pGtyfBk6 -
Post update I’m getting a solid 45fps using 457.30 (haven’t tested latest) in the JF PA28. Default VR graphics, rw36L (KNEW) @ 3:00PM, Clear weather, no windows tweaks. OpenXL render 70%, get latest = YES, repro = Always on. Non-steam version, HP Reverb. I don’t remember it being this smooth before. I was only getting 29 FPS in the prior update.

I’ve noticed this as well. The clouds seem to dissolve when going through them…more so after the update. The clouds look great, but do not act upon the airplane—such as mist, etc. I expect the promised “node-based particle effects”, will improve visuals soon. I believe we are getting contrails in the next update, or the update there after.

SimPlaneDriver replied to DMullert's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
This is the news I was hoping to hear. I hope the people accepts this developer’s plane into community. It looks as though he encourages modders to expand his plane, especially with his asset reuse—which we all know is true. I do not wish to judge this guy, except to say he may be a freaking genius for getting this out before anyone else, hopefully, with the added benefit of allowing users to modify it. -

from Moria15, sorry, I screwed up the quote: “Why would this be any diffferent than Carenado using the default Garmins in their planes? Both have only used items from the standard files, not the encrypted ones. I don't actually see any difference” Ding ding ding. We have a winner. Logic and truth rules the day eventually. -
