  1. Agree with all of you, it's coming to a point where I think I'll just close the AVSIM and official MSFS forums tabs in my browser for now as reading so much negativity/whining/entitled comments is actually depressing me lol, don't need that in the current real life context.

can’t buy it on MS store because it won’t let you install it on the drive of your choice.

I still don't understand where this is coming from, you can definitely choose the drive where the launcher/core files will be installed (sure, you will find a "Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe" folder in "C:\Users\<your_username>\AppData\Local\Packages" but all it contains are symbolic links to the actual drive you chose), and then on first game launch you have the choice once again to select any drive you want for the content files so... 🤷‍♂️

    7. There needs to be a way to set sensitivities and dead zones like we had with FSUIPC. My rudder pedals show with a variable amount of brakes always set. I can't set a zero level or curve to resolve that. Speaking of that, the sensitivities are all too high. I have to flight the 152 and 172 all the way down the runway given the variable toe brake situation. I've always relieved to just get off the ground.

There's a "Sensitivity" button which leads you to a section where you can set your curves and dead zone for any axis, see here @ 9'52:

  4. Well in my case got a cheap first month Xbox Game Pass offer, downloaded and installed without any particular issue, did some flights with smooth fps and beautiful graphcis, 10/10 will do it again in the coming days 🙂
If you're mainly about GA aircrafts you'll be plenty happy, if you're more about the airliners and one of the "serious/hardcore" simmer then yeah you'll probably have some mixed feelings about some stuff but it will improve over time.

  5. Make sure you assigned all your essentials controls (elevation/aileron/pitch/rudder etc.) to an axis input and not a button input, the controls UI is confusing on this particular point and it's very easy to be mistaken, when mapped to a button input it's overly sensitive as it acts as an on/off input rather than a progressive one.

You are scared of having fun!

Honestly that couldn't be more true, seeing all the "purists" moaning about everything is getting way too old... Just let people enjoy themselves the way they want and carry on with your life, how hard can it be really? At the end of the day all is still well in the world (well kinda, it's 2020 after all 😅)

  7. Yeah I don't want to burst any bubble but most people will definitely be on Reddit/Steam discussions/Discord this is how it's done now, forums are a "threatened species" and only the oldest ones survive these days.
Besides I'm not sure if everyone's aware but AVSIM has quite a bad reputation (and I'm being nice here) on the outside, just take a quick look at r/MicrosoftFlightSim and you'll see what I mean.

(Note: i'm neither a "youngster" or "boomer" -just somewhere in the middle-, I actually visit all of these places as well as these forums and use all of them sparingly. So I'm not judging/taking any sides here, just making observations 🙂)

  8. As an alpha tester I've globally had a smoother framerate than what can be seen in most of the videos released today, and my config is not ultra high-end (i7 6700K, 32Gb RAM, GTX 1080).
It's obvious that the capturing process and/or YouTube video processing has caused many big stutters that you would not see in game otherwise, and i'm not even talking about people pushing graphics to ultra while having a modest config. Not saying you can't have them while playing but some of the videos I've seen have such a low framerate it's making it look way worse than what it really is.

Just to illustrate this video is a perfect example, very stuttery but clearly because of his capturing process and does not reflect the kind of performance you would get if you were just flying yourself:

Can you say how much that is, please? It would be great if I can have it on my M2 C:\ drive and not have to buy a new bigger one and do a complete reinstall of Win10.

Currently a whopping 10.2Mb 🙂 And the sim content which you can choose to put wherever you want is currently at 89Gb.
Of course that could still change for the retail version (especially if the alpha builds we got don't have all the bells and whistles as many seems to think lately) but seems pretty much like what Mathijs Kok said on the Aerosoft forums.

  10. It's just the small launcher and core sim files that are installed on a dedicated location of your system drive (as it's the case for all apps/games from Microsoft Store), you'll be able to chose the location you want for the whole 90 (or so) GB sim content, that's how it's been when installing the alpha so I see no reason it'll be different for the retail version.

  11. "totally overhauled" is exaggerated honestly, still looks very blocky and messy in the way they display content by today's standards, it could look so much more modern and sleek... Oh well not a big deal anyway what really matters in the end is the sim itself 🙂

  12. It's very much the same for sim racing vs real-life drving, I guess it's true for anything involving an object in motion with you in it being in control. High-end motion rigs will obvously help a lot with this but even they can't convey the whole experience.

Oops. That does sound bad. Do they like float around or just swap positions every few seconds? It does look like they could be an eyesore during night time. Perhaps a better solution would be to increase the size of the larger, transparent watermarks, or add a fourth one. If the entire central area of the screen has to be blurred then the leaks become pretty much unwatchable.

Yep that clearly was the goal, they appear/disappear at pretty much each main parts of the screen meaning the leakers now have to blur so much it's useless. They don't "float" around like the DVD logo on a TV screen when a DVD player was idle back in the days 🙂 Each watermak instance has a predefined position and each of them appear/disappear randomly with a fading transition.

Sadly there's a lot of people that don't seem to understand that.

Hence why I said "as many others" in my previous message, some others just like to be entitled/grumpy and I really can't understand why, I've waited so long to be in the alpha I'm not gonna let some twinkling text spoil my joy 😄

  14. Oh yes they are constantly flying around and there are even more of them than what can be seen in this screenshot 😅
To be honest the brain is quick to adapt and I (as many others) barely notice them once concentrating on flying, unless it's night time where it's very noticeable and annoying because of the watermaks high opacity level.
