I have to say something...
I did search the net over and over again for another 737.
I have spend many many hours looking for good payware.
But every time I found something interesting, things I wanted where just not present. THAT was because I already had the PMDG 737, so it should be something special.
There were some good 727, but they look to old for me.
I went to captain sim that could provide lots of different products, that looked very very good. So I searched the net, looking at videos, reading forums.
Came to the conclusion performance regarding fps, just wasn't better than 737ngx. I mostly studied the 767 and 777.
I even took a look at the Aerosoft Airbus Extended. Perhaps THAT was something I would actually buy.
I thank all posting suggestions in this thread. But I have come to the conclusion that the PMDG 737NGX just fills what I need now.
I have spend a lot of time tweaking FSX, for the 737NGX, and I am close to something decent now. I simply forgot how awesome that aircraft is.
Does anyone have the Airbus Extended, and if... possibly tell me how it runs in term of FPS compared to the 737NGX?
Thanks all, and I will probably be back with questions about flight planning.
Happy flying :-)

I'd like to add for me I just use the default flight planner. For long routes I just enter in the first few waypoints that get me to cruise (say 160 miles out from the airport) and only the way points for decent (130 miles out). This cuts down on how many waypoints you have to enter along your flight plan. After you get to cruise and your handed off to another controller you accept the hand off but you don't tune in the next controller until your 15 minutes from decent. This helps when you don't have allot of free time (kids, wife, etc). You can slew after you reach cruise to 40 miles from your decent waypoint. That gives you time to get settled in, tuned in to ATC, and allow weather to catch up to your location. Not realistic but a time saver.
That's a good idea.
No need to be connected to atc ALL the way.
I will try and see how it works out for me.
But first more FMC training.
-
Thanks :-)
I will take a look at it.
-
Well ok, i went for another flight with 737ngx.
I decided first to load an ifr flight and let atc guide me.
BUT, atc text dissapears sometimes.
I read somewhere that swithching coms could help bring back atc text.
I'm not sure how to switch coms?
Switching between actives does not help. -
I always found this odd people think modern airliners are hard to comprehend. Coming from add-ons like Ready For Pushback's 742, SSTSim's Concord, and Dreamfleet 727 modern airliners are a breeze compared to a three man cockpit. If an FMC is hard for you try a less functional autopilot, old navigation equipment, VOR to VOR navigation, or flying a SID/STAR by a map versus having it appear on your ND screen. Someone recommended a detailed 737-200 which is harder to get into than a modern 737NG. It's also true an add-on like the PMDG 737 is easier than the default because you have so much more situational awareness like TCAS and terrain info for example. Heck the iFly model will have a weather radar shortly. How these modern tools don't make things easier for some I'll never understand. It's not just simmers but we have real world examples of screwups that shouldn't be possible today like Comair taking off on the wrong runway, Southwest landing on the wrong runway, and Asiana to name a few...
I actually think you are right.
But now i know how to use the GPS.
I DONT know how to program the FMC.
And i dont have any software for setting up flights. Someone even said they spend 15-20 minutes just setting up a flight!
I know it will be faster when you have done it some times, sure, but right now i dont have time for it.
And the PMDG is fps hungry, so i have to tweak FSX just to fly with it.
That means lots of compromises regarding graphics.
Dont get me wrong, i like the 737NGX, and happy to have it in my fleet when i have time for it, and time setting it up for FSX.

iFly seems to get lost in all the PMDG hype, but I think it's actually a better product with a much better looking vc. You also get most of the variants in one package.
Is it possible to use the GPS with the ifly?
-
Some time ago i got the PMDG 737NGX, very complex and abselutely great.
I was wondering.... are there anything between that one and the default 737?
Not that i dont like the PMDG, but perhaps less system demanding and pilot demanding :-)
Heck! maybe you can even load up the GPS?
So this is the criteria/wishes.
Able to fly with GPSNice virtual cockpit/high quality
And... thats it i think.
So please tell me what you think.
Last i asked for something, i was recommended the Twin Otter Extended, and that was superb. So PLEASE dont hold back suggestions :-)
Thanks.

I really like the bloom in DX10 :-)
-
Good thread.
Actually learned a little, and I have been using DX10 for some time now.
I can't recall anything being more difficult than setting FSX up properly.
Do I ever get finished tweaking?
Perhaps not, but I'm getting close due to all the help :-)
-
I reckon so. The danger is editing stuff to suit you and not the way that aircraft should/ought to work. I wouldn't normally mess with developers work because they know more than I'd ever know. It's just that with the B55 my feet were scraping along the runway in my efforts to stop!
You are right.
I should't mess with those settings.
It's fine as it is :-)
-
Can these brake settings be edited in all aircrafts?
-
Did anyone else noticed that panel ligths somtimes goes on/off?
I think its only aircrafts with vc shadows.
It's not a huge problem, but if anyone knows how to fix it, i would be glad :-) -
I can see that Paul.
And i honestly dont understand why i can't get it working.
When i see others got it working, i spend a lot if time to get it working for me.
But honestly, I'm DONE with that.
Installed older driver, changed NOTHING in FSX, and BAMM, it works :-)
The reports are that gameready drivers have vsync errors, when limiting fps.
I did test some games to see if it was just fsx with this problem, but no, same problem.
So for now, I'm using older drivers, unless someone come up with something that i haven't tried. -
I have tested it so much on my machine, and i just dont get it.
But the conclusion is clear, vsync doesn't work for me when limiting fps in FSX or inspector.
Also several reports on nvidia forum about vsync broken with newer drivers, so its not just me. -
I dont use anything later than 327.23, because vsync is broken with limited FPS.
-
Hi Paul,
Is there a program that can measure the average fps of FSX/P3D over a set period or something like that?
regards
steve
Fraps can make a benchmark.
-
Well, that's easy to answer.
Twin Otter Extended
A2A 172 trainer
PMDG 737NGX
And LOTS of Carenados that are way over the standard aircraft, but just can't make a number 1 place. -
I actually think i did try sweet fx some time ago, just never got it working...
But if it works, maybe i can try again. -
Sorry, but I'm not trying to hi-jack this thread, just one question.
I just recently got a GTX780 with 3GB ram.
Should i use Bufferpools=0 ? -
Are there a working ENB for FSX DX10?
I run with bloom on, does it pretty good.
But lots of alternatives with a good ENB.
BUT, is it possible? -
Can any damage be done to a LED TV running 100% contrast?
-
That was what I did in first place.
Perhaps both in nvidia AND fsx?
Thanks anaway...

Latest WHQL driver installed.
Tried internal, external, unlimited, 30 fps lock.
Tried DX9, vsync working about 1 out of 7 starts ups.
Its NOT even a DX10 issue.
Now i simply can't get vsync working!I kinda give up now, too much time spending just on vsync, can't stand the tearing.
Removing Saitek gear.....

Do you lock at 30, Steve?
Please recommend a 737 for me
