  1. Thanks again everyone for the replies. I shouldve specified what I plan on doing. I will be flying in Australia doing small twin IFR/VFR flights (DA42) and GA VFR flights (C172). When practicing planning I use the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) which provides everything I need. However I was looking for some consistency with FSX, as in I didnt want to print of met from the BoM and that not be the weather in FSX. ASN seems to be the way to go as mentioned above it provides me a flight briefing. But with ASN providing real world weather, can I use any website to gather met? where does ASN source their weather form (NOAA, BoM, etc)?
  2. Thanks for the information I'll have a look into them .. But a quick question, can they generate met packages so when I'm planning a flight I can print off the ARFORs/wind charts/TAFs to plan my navlog and airfield suitability? or do they only generate the weather into FSX Thanks again
  3. Hi all, I apologise if this question has been answered, I have done a search but have found nothing. From my experience of flight planning (real world), both VFR and IFR, cruising level winds play a big role in calculating HDG, Drift, GS, ETI and Fuel Used. How does one get accuracte weather in FSX to calculate the above for a flight plan? Besides the obvious of user entered/generated weather. Any help would be much appreciated
  4. Nevermind it all works now. Just cant figure out how to delete this topic?
  5. Sounds like a big headache lol. I might try it out and like what you did, I can always delete the partition if its no good. Cheers for the info!
  6. Hi all, I was completing Tutorial #2 when I came across a sound issue. During the cockpit preflight flow, you are to test the APU and engine fire detection and warning system. When you select the TEST switch to the OVHT/FIRE position you are supposed to hear the fire warning bell. Well this is not the case for me as I do not hear it. I tried to find corrective action if this were to happen but I am unsuccessful. I have also done the basics such as, check all my FSX sound settings, headphone settings, etc. Just to clarify I am hearing every other sound, so it suggests to me I have done something wrong in the flow. Anyone have any ideas? Cheers,
  7. I am considering putting Win7 on my MBA but just a minium partition so I can run the EFB DU on there. Did you try that with your rMBP? - Josh
  8. Finally got it to work! haha. Thank you guys for your help, it was much appreciated! If I could I'd buy you both a beer, Cheers! - Josh
  9. Ok thanks Rick, I'll do a bit of research in regards to UAC. Thanks Andy, I'll have a play around and see what I can do. I am running Win7 but I forgot to mention that it is through Bootcamp on an iMac. Should that make a difference? Cheers, Josh.
  10. Hi Rick, Thanks for the reply, I am doing exactly what you said up to the part of saving the flightplan. When I select that folder to save in and then click save, I am getting an 'access is denied' prompt and it wont let me save. Just to clarify I am running it all (FSX, Data Provider, and Display Unit) on one PC, on the same network. Thanks also for clarifying the FMS route loading, I completely understand that now. Cheers, Josh.
  11. Hi Jean, Thanks for the reply, I'll have a look through their forum. Unfortunately I am running everything on one machine. Cheers, Josh.
  12. Hi all, I was hoping I could get some help from you guys in regards to the PMDG 737NGX and Aivlasoft EFB software. I have just recently downloaded the 30 day free trial and trying to set it up, firstly how do I set it up for the 737? as far as I've gotten is making a new aircraft folder named 'PMDG 737-900NGX' and added the checklists from Aivlasofts' website. Is that all I have to do? Secondly when I make a flight plan and try to save it as a .RTE file is says that access to 'C:\............\PMDG\FLIGHTPLANS\NGX' is denied. I have no idea how to get around this? and lastly once I can get the software to save the .RTE file how do I then get it on to the PMDG 737? Sorry if these are real basic questions, I have done quite a bit of internet searching before posting this and can not find the answers I need. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spots, I dont know. Cheers, Josh.
