I will need to try some other areas. I have to admit I was mostly consumed with the Vegas area. Maybe it is something with FlyTampa. I don't know. But the region is a no fly zone at the moment.

Try the following if you havent:

    Scenery Complexity: Normal

    Draw Distance: Very High

    Vegetation density: Dense

    Building density: dense

Scenery complexity and cities seem to be a crux at the moment now, I think its just highlighting how poorly optimised some scenaries/city scapes are, London was quite brutal at higher than normal slider for complexity.

It's also worth noting with people with SLI set ups, even if v5 supports it, 2x 4GB cards doesn't = 8GB VRAM with DX12.

Already have the latest drivers. 30hz or 60hz? Do you mean frame limiting. Tried that and made no difference with Vram CTD. Also, locked at 30fps is intolerable and has always been for TrackIR users. This sim has no issue running higher frames smoothly. I'm not joking when I say this, but v5 performs better with atmospheric on for me. Sitting at FlyTampa KLAS and Orbx with around 30fps with atmospheric on is the best I've ever seen on my rig with this addon, and 18fps with it off, which is similar to the performance I was getting in v4.5. How do you explain that? Also I had Vram CTD with atmospheric off, so it doesn't even matter.

It's really sad that we finally have a great performing sim, even on my old system, but we're back to OOM errors. In fact it's far worse than the OOM's of the past. Can't even get 2 minute flight with my regular add-ons with RTX2080 that I bought less than a year ago. And that was not cheap for me.

Also it's obvious that even with Ti cards and 11GB Vram is not going to be enough once we have multiple add-ons, AI, Orbx True Earth, FSlabs. I mean forget it. What are we  supposed to all go out and drop $2500 on a Titan card because these joker's at LM can't code properly? Whatever.

Out of interest, when you press shft + Z twice, what is the number  after the slash for GPU Memory? e.g I have XX/6.7GB atm.

Looking at your signature, you have three monitors, windows allocates what it can to P3D (not LM's fault) if you're running three monitors, I suspect windows is requiring higher vram for other processes instead of giving it to P3D.

I've just departed Copenhagen, flying to LAX, on vatsim using FLAi traffic, in the PMDG 747 that I moved over myself, Fly Tampa Copenhagen, sliders quite high, atmospheric effects on, REX injecting weather (it works), ORBX EU and Global, I didn't exceed 5.8GB of VRAM, I run in 4k.

Depends on what you're looking to do. We'll obviously be coordinating with other devs to integrate ACARS/CPDLC in their products (SDK of some sort). APIs will be available for VAs to manage their own pilot rosters, and so on.

The community contributions are mainly liveries, at least in the context of my earlier post. All the same, I know we haven't thought of everything that could be cool in this system, so depending on what the idea is...

Understandable, obviously we don't know what you guys are planning for release, in terms of features, but one of the things I'm thinking about, depending on the data that would be exposed to us, is things like achievements (such as things like successfully recover from a failure, complete rotations etc), fpm leaderboards, general gamification of the stats outpoured.

One of the things I'd really like to see implemented, is if the user isn't flying on vatsim is to create a tool that would generate traffic and flight plans based on active flights inside of Global Flight Ops.

If it's not on the roadmap to offer an open API like that, then thats cool, these were just some of the things I was thinking about when I heard it would be open to developers. I may have just missunderstood what it was you meant by that.

  4. I've never regretted my purchase of GSX, the pushback is perfect, I also love the loading feature, I know its eye candy but for me it adds to my immersion as I only really fly cargo. I agree that the marshal could be better but for the following:

    1. Follow me Truck to the Gate

    2. Push Back

    3. Interaction with the ground services.

That's just my take and what I get out of it, I set the cargo to load whilst I'm running through all of my documentation, CDU set up and all that preflight Jazz.

  5. I'm thinking of doing a KPAE - OMDB as a 'Delivery Flight'. I'm not sure why but whenever I purchase a new boeing aircraft, I fly from KPAE to whichever airport I plan to fly from. After arriving at OMDB, I will most likely head towards ESSA.

  6. Do you have separate left/right throttle levers?  I remember seeing this reported way back, something about the engine never fully starting due to a calibration issue.  Also check the failures just to rule it out.

    Edit - check this...  http://forum.avsim.net/topic/420642-engine-generators/page-2

I looked in engine failures there were none, but then I realized that this was electrical, so I cleared all failures... I now feel like an idiot.

Thanks a lot, the frieghter now works and roaring like a beast, I will try the pax version just to double check. :)

EDIT: Everything works as it should as far as I can tell now. All of this due to looking in the wrong failures section -_-

  7. Hi, I recently upgraded my hardware (New Mobo and CPU) and it seems since then I have been having issues with the 777 regarding the left engine. It seems that it is unable to get any power output from it what so ever.

I believe I've read all the documentation correctly for the start up (Tried Cold and Dark Panel State, Short and Long) But I always seem to get the same issue.

After looking into the planes systems I found out why my Left Engine wasn't working properly and it seems that its just not getting the power it needs, unlike the right, which is running fine.

    8POD1.jpg

The overhead panel looks like this:

    8POKp.jpg

Something is definitely wrong with the left engine, is it possible that its due to my hardware upgrade? (I was able to reactivate the aircraft without an issue due to it asking for my key again after the hardware upgrade). I'm really scratching my brain here, has anyone else experienced this? Am I doing something obviously wrong?

    Regards.

  8. You might want to read this page (bottom half has 5 top processors

    http://www.computershopper.com/components/processor

seems the 4770 is more like an onboard graphics upgrade to the 3770, but then it might also be cheaper than the 3770

Get the K series for unlocked use

    allen

Not much price difference between the both, so I'm gonna go for the 4770k if I upgrade, I just wanted to know if there will be a performance increase or would I be wasting my money on it.

  9. My current system specs are as followed:

    OS:

    Windows 8.1

    CPU

    AMD Phenom II X4 965 @ 3.40GHz

    MEMORY

    8GB DDR3 1600Mhz

    GPU

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 TI SSC

I'm under an ongoing upgrade and I'm replacing the CPU next and the GPU following that. I am thinking of getting the new i7 4770K along with the h100 cooler from Corsair (planning to do some slight OCing). Will I notice much of a performance increase in FSX/P3D and X-Plane with swapping these processors alone?

  10. Dunno, I've been happily flying the 777 in Win 8 since release...as well as the NGX, MD-11, etc. The only big issue in Win 8 seems to be that FSX MAY forget that a joystick is connected if you alt-tab out of FSX and once you lose it, it's gone until an FSX restart (not a 777-exclusive problem). If you don't alt-tab, you're generally good to go. There's a mega-thread here in Avsim about this. I've run into this issue once or twice, but have since gotten my external laptop setup with everything so that alt-tabbing on my FSX rig is never needed.

Unplugging tabbing back out then plug in and tab in fixes it for my saitek yoke. But other than that minor annoyance the 777 works fine on my win8.

  11. After installing the T7 I'm experiencing the following problems:

    1.  My car won't start

    2.  My Mom is constipated

    3.  My wife's phone won't connect to the wireless

    4.  My copy of FSX still has to be configured for optimal performance

    5.  and finally ... I'm going to get fired because I can't stop flying this plane

    I'm tired of it!

    I think these are #1 priority for sp1 :)

  12. Mine is more of a case that PMDG won't sign it over for me, I've paid it, we're at the delivery centre in Everett, But they won't let me have it.... Whereas yours isn't expected delivery until 15th

Sounds like torture, maybe there were some hiccups in the assembly line :P. I believe my expected delivery isn't until the 30th

    EDIT:

I just bit the bullet and bought it early :) Will be flying KPAE - EGFF for the first flight :P

  13. Not sure if you'd be interested in spending this much but several members of the PMDG team run it in Bootcamp mode on 15" Apple MacBook Pros. There's probably some better PC laptops in terms of performance, but none that will come close to the design and build quality you get from the MBP. Most PC "gaming" laptops I've seen are super bulky and have terrible battery life.

I may try this, bought a Retina MacBook Pro last week.
