Tileproxy R
Foly-vi, Never mind with the last post. I figured it out. But when I run tileproxy, I still get a random display of tiles. It does not look like the simulator is reading the tiles. Any ideas?

Foly-vi Thanks for your help but I do not understand your directions. What do you mean to use my proxy.ini to complete the new one? And I have now idea what you are talking about here: Do not forget to read those lines , so you will know wich lines to choose: 2 cores core_mask = # FFFFFFFF request_count = 2 4 cores core_mask = # FFFFFFFE request_count = 4 6 cores core_mask = # FFFFFFFC request_count = 6 8 cores core_mask = # FFFFFFF8 request_count =8 Please help.

Tileproxy R
Long time fan of Tileproxy. I have no idea about programming or how it works. I just follow the original directions. But for some reason it no longer reads the tiles correctly. I get a mixed-up array of all kinds of tiles in total randomness. IF anyone knows what is going on please let me know. Now regarding the new version. I downloaded it but there are no installation instructions. Or are these files just ones to replace ones I already have? As you can already see, I have no idea at what I am doing. But if someone could tell me, in plain English what to do do update with these files, I would sure appreciate it. I live in the U.S. I assume the new version works here in the states?

Map tiles not loading correctly
To summarize my problem: TileProxy seems to start. But it will not download any tiles into the cache. In fact the cache folder was not even created when I did a reinstall. The first "oval" to fill with asterick marks never loads. But hte others do. I found this link from 2009. IT DESCRIBES EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME. hE ATTACHED A PICTURE THAT GIVES YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT IS ALSO HAPPENING WITH ME. Keep in mind that I have used TileProxy for years with no problem. Suddenly with no changes that I am aware of to my system, it stopped working. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/263774-0-access-0-hits-please-please-help/ Please, anyone, help.

Map tiles not loading correctly
Also, something else I noticed when I start up TileProxy that may give a clue as to what is going on. In addition to no files being generated in Cacheservice, The first "wafer shape" that fills in with astericks remains completely blank. Would that five a clue to the problem? Thanks for your continued help.

Map tiles not loading correctly
Thanks again for your help and the detail of your response. I again tried everything you said, and nothing works, including a complete uninstall and reinstall. But here is something I noticed that may be of importance. No files are being generated in the cache.service1 folder. Shouldn't files be added there as you fly over areas of terrain? I rechecked the path and it seems to be correct.

Map tiles not loading correctly
Thanks John. I did review the last info. Thanks for the recall. But it is more complicated than that. Because no matter what airport I start at, when using TileProxy, the scenery is all messed up. Anywhere in the world. Places where I have never added scenery to. I can't figure it out. I think I will try to reinstall TilePRoxy. But I can not find a place to download it. The only reference I find is to download it at Sourceforge.net. But that site is not working. Do you know where else I could get a cop? Or any other Ideas on what could be going on? Thanks.

Tileproxy Download?
I need to get another copy of TileProxy. But the only place I can find to download it is at Sourceforge.net. But the site does not work. Any other place to get it? Thanks for your help.

Map tiles not loading correctly
I have been using TileProxy for a long time now and love it. But suddenly it does not load correctly. When I start proxy and then FSX, something other than the default FSX scenery loads, which is, of course good. But what is loading now is all messed up. It is like squares of scenery are loaded that do not go together, I have water appearing on my runway. And there is supposed to be a large river flowing beside the runway that I fly out of. It is not longer there; just green grass. I could go on about what is wrong, but just leave it at everything is screwed up. I do not remember changing anything in settings. It seems that it maybe has to do with the order of loading scenery. But the "order thing" is something I have never understood. If someone could give me a basic primer on why things need to be in a certain order, and what order that should be, I would really appreciate your help. But maybe my problem has nothing to do with load order. All I know is that Tileproxy used to work fantastically, and now it loads only garbage. Maybe it has to do with the latest map version I am using which is 2398. Thanks for helping me get TileProxy back to the beautiful way it used to be.

TileProxy not working at Grand Canyon
John, now I may have a bigger problem. I noticed that after I deleted the Grand Canyon add-on scenery, I now get error messages when I start up FSX. It says scenery.cfg file error invalid. Remote scenery path in scenery area 115 and 254. I have tried to go on line to find an answer but nothing seems to work. I even tried to reinstall Grand Canyon but that did not help. Sorry to keep bugging you. But if yo have any insight how to get rid of the error message, I would be grateful.

TileProxy not working at Grand Canyon
John, 2 more questions 1. Explain to me the level of priority significance in the add-on scenery. What is it and how does it work? 2, I notice that in addition to the add-on scenery folder, there is another "scenery" folder. What is the difference in these 2 scenery folders?

TileProxy not working at Grand Canyon
John, Problem solved. Thanks for sticking with me. Add on scenery for the Grand Canyon was the culprit! I deleted it and everything is OK now. Thanks again. By the way, what should be the top folder in the scenery folders? And are all the World folders generated from TileProxy or are they default FSX?

TileProxy not working at Grand Canyon
never mind. I figured out how to attach the file. So here is an aerial veiw. Notice the large brown area that goes from the village all the way back to the airport. If you fly over that area, it is all generic FSX scenery. Notice the green lanscape that encirlcles the brown area. If you fly over any of that, it is photo realistic from TileProxy. By the way, I have tried your tileproxy.ini file and the same thing happens. Another shot.

TileProxy not working at Grand Canyon
Ok, I want to attach a screen shot of what I am talking about. I know how to take the pic but how do I get the file under 4 megs so I can attach it?

TileProxy not working at Grand Canyon
I found the program to erase the service cache. I zoomed on the area to erase. Do I have to fill in info on left, like No/size of tiles, etc?

TileProxy not working at Grand Canyon
John, here is the info you need. I am using Service 1. The canyon village is at. Latitude N36degrees and 2.69 minutes Longitude W 112 degrees and 7.25 minutes. But there is a whole area starting from the Grand Canyon airport up to the rim that is just brown in color with generic scenery.

Thanks for your response. Ok, showing my ignorance here. What is LOD and how do I clear cache for the Grand Canyon area?

TileProxy not working at Grand Canyon
TileProxy works fine for me. But when I go to the Grand Canyon in Arizona, the only scenery I get is the default Microsoft scenery which is terrible. Tile Proxy works fine in Sedona, a beautiful site just south of Grand Canyon National Park. But head north and the default scenery takes over. A real mystery to me. Does anyone know what is going on?

Map versions
A map update does not necessarily mean the map is updated in the area you are flying. It just means that somewhere in the world, new photos have been taken of a certain section of the globe and added to the file. You would not see changes unless you were flying in that area.

Tileproxy in FS9 - Notes
Help me understand what you mean by your #3. "3. Set up a proxyuser.ini, Tileproxy install folder, and shortcut to the batch file within. Note my proxyuser.ini uses a cache folder specific to FS9. Otherwise, Tileproxy overwrites FSX cached files, in case you're using Tileproxy for FSX too which can cause delays in loading the right textures in FSX." I am running FSX and I just go the proxyuser.ini file found in the TileProxy folder under Microsoft/FSX to make any changes. Are you saying to put the ini file somewhere else to protect something? Would your ini file work in FSX? Forgot to ask. Will Soft Horizons work in FSX?

Error Message when starting TileProxy
Stop the presses!!!!!! I got it working! Thanks John. Your idea of putting everything on the C drive did the trick. Don't know why it would not read form the other drive. I checked the path and it was just I was told in set up. Oh well. Now I need to fine tune if possible. When I look down form 2000 feet, the scenery still looks quite blurry. I need to try a differnet resource for the maps. I guess the only choice we have is Yahoo or virual earth. Is that correct? What else do I have to do? Maybe my expectations are too great. I was hoping it would look like google earth or the gps system on my phone. Or at least as clear as the photos you submitted. If I could get the scenery as good as yours look, I would be satisfied. Well, anyway, thanks, John. By the way would using a copy of your ini file work for me? And what map source do you use? John, Is it worth the money to consider buying scenery software like GEX, or Ultimate Terrain, or FS Genesis? Or do I just have fun with what I just figured out? And what kind of controllers do you use? I am using an old Sidewinder pro. Just let me know if I am asking too many questions.

Error Message when starting TileProxy
One more thing that may help you understand what is going on in my situation. Like I said, FSX eventually will start. When I am flying my route, I look at what is happening to the TileProxy window. Sometimes it is scrolloin gifo. Other times it is just static with the "Waffles loaded with x's". But at the top of the screen is this info: Tile accesses: 0 0.0 per second Preloaded: 39128 Hit:0 Miss:0 Messages 549 It makes me believe that the scenery is there but is not being accessed. Could that be because I set up the cache files and real world scenery folders on another drive? It was suggested I do that. Does this help? I feel like I am so close to making this work. Based on what you just said (our messages crossed in the mail) maybe the problem is wiht my instiall the cache on another drive. I will reinstall and put everyutingon the sme drive and see what happens. Now to get my TP to start with your setup. Would it be easier for you to just send me a copy of you .ini?

Error Message when starting TileProxy
John, Still does not work. I reread Ed's paper on installation (several times now), reinstalled TileProxxy; everything you said to do. Tile Proxy seems to load OK. I have attached below what it says. Then when I start FSX,, TileProxy begins filling in the oval shapes with x's. I guess so far so good. But when I tyr to laod a flight, FSX gives me the Scenery.dat file error and tells me I need to delete scenery files. IT tells me to clikc OK but nothing happens unless I Click about 50 times. Then the load bar starts and FSX finally starts with the original default scenery. Sooooooo ... Back to where I started from. Any other ideas? John, Thanks much for your detailed reply. Iwill apply what you said and get back to you. I may want a copy of your proxyuser.ini if you don't mind. But I will try the other stuff first.

Error Message when starting TileProxy
Thanks for your input. I am tyring to do everyting you guys suggest. I do have Tile Proxy downloading pictures into the cache now. But when I try to fly, Flight Sim seems to lock up. A load bar does not appear. I get an error message saying that there was a scenery.dat file error and that I need to shut FM down, go into TP Cache and delete a scenery file. Then it says click OK. I clikc OK and I get another error message do delte another file . Every time I click OK and another error mesage apears telling me to delete yet another scenery file. If I sit there awhile and just keep clicking OK maybe 20-30 times, the load bar finally appears and the game will load. But only defarult scenery,; nothing from Tile Proxy. Any other ideas. About ready to give this thing up. Getting frustrated now. Is the guy that designed this still involved in any way? Help.
