  1. I have been spending quite a bit of time using my yoke in VR while streaming on Twitch in MSFS and X-Plane.

I use a HP Reverb G2 with my Valve Index controllers so they are strapped to my hands with my fingers available to control the yoke. I was taught in a Cessna 172 to keep the plane in trim and only use finger tips to control the yoke. This yoke has brought back those times and I do hand fly most of the time for hours just enjoying what I had hopped my Fulcrum would bring me. Matched with my MSG Crosswinds pedals I am having so much fun reliving my real life training in a Cessna 172.

    Thanks Bill

How does OVR Toolkit differ from the Desktop display you can get with e.g. a G2 Reverb by hitting the "Desktop" button on a controller?  Is it essentially about ability to customise the windows you throw into VR?  I've had a play with Desktop+ (free) but I'd like better to understand the functionality differences.  OVRT is cheap and seems well regarded, but I just want to be sure it's not duplicating what I can do.

When I tried using WMR I could only bring in one window into the VR cockpit.

With OVR Toolkit I can bring in as many as I want resize each one differently besides bringing in the whole desktop if I wish. Any window on my desktop can be brought into the VR space. I normally have 3 or 4 windows from my desktop when I am streaming. For flight simulation another big plus is you can change the opacity of each window to suit your needs. It is the best $12 I have spent on any VR product or software.

  3. Just did a quick test in 2d and had forgot to remove the old folder from Community so I had two. Removed the old one then restarted and all is well. Will be testing it in VR this morning and will let you know how it goes. I am currently just using the text display but have used the PDF part in the previous version and did work well.

Flight went well in VR using my HP Reverb G2 with my Valve Index controllers and EBAG performed as expected.

    Thanks Bill

  4. @Spit40,

I installed your Electronic Flight Bag for VR amd was getting a CTD so cleaned out my Community folder and started with just your program and all was well.

I found that when I had christian1984-ingamepanel-vfrmapforvr also installed I got the CTD.

The fact that I need to have a way to view text and PDF files in the VR cockpit means I will be keeping yours but is there a way for these both to get along?

On X-Plane I use AviTab which does both functions and so much more so it will be interesting how all this will work out in the end.

    Thanks Bill

Ok so yesterday I grabbed OVR Toolkit and so far it's great, the customisation of each window is brilliant once you get the knack for it. Everything is useable without the need for Controllers (big Plus point for me) and the FPS/Performance loss when in Flight is minimal.

I picked up on a bug so went to their Discord, the Dev was very friendly and together we found the issue, which he fixed and will release in a Hotfix today (already works in Beta), so the "customer service" aspect is also brilliant.

I've not yet used it for long periods though, will do later, it works OK with LNM but lacks functionality when mini pop-up windows in LNM are required (like adding a Traffic pattern) and when Alt-Tabbing its a bit of an unknown, but overall it's a great program and one I hope will flourish in the future.

I have used OVR Toolkit since January this year in X-Plane and was glad when I found I could also use in MSFS. The developer never seems to stop making improvements and fixing any bugs found in short order.

I am a Twitch streamer so needed to find a way to get my chat into my VR headset and OVR Toolkit was the answer and so much more. I do plan on doing a stream soon on the tools I am using to allow you to stream MSFS in VR.

Is there any way to display any kind of Notepad in VR?

I wanted to do a VOR to VOR flight and normally I would simply note the frequencies on my phone or something, but there seems to be no way at all for something like this while in VR.

OVR toolkit doesn't work because of the lack of Motion controller support. The little Nav Map add on is out of date and doesn't seem to work anymore. And All Overlays aren't showing up in VR.

This is so frustrating that such a minor thing ruins it atm for me.

I have OVR Toolkit working with my HP Reverb G2 by using "Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR" and setting SteamVR in Developer Current OpenXR Runtime to SteamVR. I also have fpsVR running.

While I've not tried it with MSFS yet, I had great luck with a program called OVRToolkit in P3D for bringing in desktop windows into the VR environment, with the ability to move/resize/curve etc.  Very active developer.  Relatively cheap on Steam.  Used it for a lot of things, but mainly charts and vPilot.  Some good preview videos on youtube.

I just got this to work in MSFS but have very bad frames in the 30's. I have the Microsoft Store version and am using Windows Mixed Reality for SteamVR with Current OpenXR Runtime set to SteamVR. I did move my Chatty into VR using OVR Toolkit which is what I wanted to do to help me stream Twitch in VR.

I have much more testing to do but it proved that this will work.

  8. I have been using VR in X-Plane for 3 years and starting streaming at the beginning of this year on Twitch.

I currently have a Valve Index and a HP Reverb G2 that I use my Index controllers with. I fly with a Fulcrum One yoke and a MFG Crosswinds pedals and always have my Index controllers an my hands so using a mouse would be very different to me.

I have been flying MSFS a little using Track IR but it is just not the same as VR. I also tried the poor mans VR but did not like that at all. Will wait for the real thing and hope we do not have to wait to long to get touch controller support.

From my 3 years of VR experience I know what I think VR controller interaction should look like and will be interesting how MSFS stacks up.

    Hi Bill

As far as I understand it, a vid and pid are not required when using a class driver and the yoke will appear using the standard hid game controller driver as specified in the descriptor hence 0000 being used as no proprietary driver is required to be loaded. I've just tested with 2 yokes attached to my machine and they both work correctly. Registering to get a VID costs $6000 and is not required for any regulatory reasons. It is on the to do list to go into some updated firmware but it was not deemed as a must have expense for launch. I'm not a usb expert so am going of what I have been advised.

    Hope this helps.

Wow I did not know that a VID costs $6000 but now it make more sense.

Thanks for improving my understanding of USB devices.

    Bill

  10. I did about 6 or 8 circuits at KERI in X-Plane 11.50r3 Windows using the default Cessna 172 with the REP expansion pack.

First couple of landing were quite hard getting used to the increased throw of the yoke and not flaring enough. They continued to improve as I learned how far to pull the yoke back.

This was while using the Valve Index with its touch controllers that were on my hands at all times. I have been waiting for some time to be able to do this test and it has exceeded my expectations. It took a little bit of time to get the virtual cockpit adjusted where I can touch every switch without hitting the yoke.

    A very happy Bill

  11. I am seeing the same thing on my Windows install when looking at Events of the HID controller.

    Device HID\VID_0000&PID_0000\8&961a9fd&0&0000 was started.

I have worked with USB devices for a very long time as the author of Xsaitekpanels and have never seen this before from any USB device.

The VID should be the Vendor and the PID is the product identifier.

    Thanks Bill

  12. Is there a reason the ID is 0000:0000? On my system Device 033 is the Fulcrum One Yoke.

  13. I have been using X-Plane VR for over 2 years and currently using a Valve Index. I currently am using a Saitek yoke and MFG Crosswinds pedals. Since I have the Index I always have my controllers on my hands and use touch controls for everything else in the virtual cockpit.

I am also using MSFS but using Track IR till we get VR support and also have the HP Reverb G2 on pre-order. I plan on using my Index touch controllers with my G2 so this will be a interesting ride.
