  1. No, because PMDG doesn't support P3D and never will apparently ... but momentum has a way of changing interpretations, philosophy, legal definitions, re-definitions, etc. etc.  It'll really just depends if there is money in it.  Keep in mind PMDG technically does NOT support DX10 on FSX.

I think to get people interested in P3D DX11, it'll take some wrangling and some mighty impressive video's and demonstrations of the product in action.  If people currently don't see the difference between FSX DX9 and FSX DX10, it's going to be difficult sell for P3D DX11.  P3D DX11 will have to accomplish:

    Required

    1.  Blow your socks off visual differences that even a blind person could appreciate

    2.  Scalable FPS increase with multiple GPUs

    Optional

    3.  AutoGen popping solved, which means better LOD_RADIUS implementation

    4.  Much improved global lighting system

    5.  Light rays (what we were originally promised in DX10)

    6.  Improved memory usage to stay within 4GB limits (DX11 should be a big benefit in this area as much can be dumped into VRAM not using up VAS)

I'm staying optimistic as to what they might deliver.  If they do indeed deliver, then I'm pretty sure 3rd party developments will follow that can leverage the power of DX11 and P3D's V2 ... it'll only take one or two really good 3rd party add-ons to get the ball rolling.

    FS'ing has a good future.

the NGX does work 100% in P3D 1.4 plus the MD11 and 747.

  2. "how old is your wife and do you take Viagra?"

    :LMAO:

Asking about initial sales in comparison to the NGX isn't really such a bad idea, IMO.

I'm interested myself to hear whether the T7 outsold the NGX or not (initially).

Anyway my no. of licences is ... one; the rest of the mathematics is up to the OP.   tongue.png

it can't outsell the NGX yet!  it's not even a month after release.  We have to wait atleast 6months-1year.

  3. Hello,

I have been researching Prepar3d and I'm looking at buying an academic licence for $49.95. I have a couple of questions before buying though.

    1. Is it a new and stable platform or is it basically FSX?

    2. Are PMDG add-ons supported within P3D?

    3. What is the difference that makes P3D so great?

Thank you very much in advance.

all PMDG planes work except the new 777

  4. from the screenshots posted the cockpit looks somewhat sterile and artificial to me. somehow it lacks that Carenado-beautiful and pretty artist style. everything seems to be that same plastic grey tone. otherwise I would have purchased it.

I watched some youtube videos on the real Saab and it actually looks the same, maybe the pics are not on "extreme texture setting".

  5. We saw this problem in the past with the NGX and earlier too and it always comes down to something on the user's system blocking that dll. (which is the TCAS system dll and has been the same since the 747 many years ago)

I had one NGX user at support who bought an identical separate hard drive and clean installed Windows and FSX on it and was able to get the file to load there, but not on his original drive. That proves to me that it's something external to the dll causing it to hang - the system hardware was the same and the the only thing that changed was the software environment. It's probably antivirus or some other kind of security software if I had to guess - we never determined for sure what it is and really we can't because there's just too many variables out there.

I'm buying a new PC just for fsx this week:  Win7 + FSX(nothing else)...I think you're right because some PC's come with pre-installed security software and other utilities that conflict with fsx.  Thanks for the info.

  6. Is the petition asking for it to be released around early 2014, or was it stated somewhere that it's coming to the PC then for sure? I have yet to see an official statement regarding this. All information regarding a PC port has been rumors so far to my knowledge.

ign and gamespot on their youtube channels confirmed a PC port was being made after the petition reached the required signatures.  PC ports always take a few more months to create/finalize.  I will try and find the video link later on.  By the way, the petition reached the required signatures in just a couple of hours, lol.

  7. IS there going to be a PC version, I am not sure ....

As its given in wikipedia to be a Console exclusive title...

there was a poll/petition a few months back and the required signatures were reached...there will be a PC release around early 2014.
