  1. Has anyone ever seen this problem? This shot was taken above Beaufort Marine Corps Air Station in South Carolina. I have recently installed Ultimate Terrain USA and I am using the freeware FS Genesis mesh for the east coast. I thought this was the only location this occured in, but I also noticed it in an area in Louisiana on a flight today. Am I missing some ground texture or something? I am also using MAIW for Beaufort MCAS. Thanks.

  2. Ha, thanks for the great replies. Remember the WWI arena for dogfighting that was enclosed on four sides by 2D mountains? I don't think I ever shot a single plane down. I think it even had some kind of tool that allowed you to design your own aircraft. I don't remember if it had a scenery creator on it. (referring to FS 1.01). That video above is funny. I loved the old versions then, but I sure am glad it evolved. I can't wait to see what the next 20-30 yrs will bring. Maybe MS will re-open the sim division or someone else will make one better than MS. It will be hard to change over to another brand. To me, it would be almost like losing a best friend.

  3. I have been curious for a long time how long other people have been using Microsoft Flight Sim. I started using it about 1983 on Flight Sim 1.01. It only had 4 cities in the world, Chicago, Boston, LA and Seattle. I must have logged several hundred hours on that thing. I went through all the versions before settling on FS9. I think my total hours must be over 50,000. I also have logged about 60 hours real world in a C152, and I have an Aircraft Dispatcher license. I use Orbiter Flight Sim too, and Railworks Train Sim, but MSFS is the best. I wish they were still in business.

How long has everyone else been using MSFS? Anyone got me beat or at least been using it as long as me?

    Thanks for your responses.

  4. Hmm. I checked and it was showing read only, so I cleared that up and thought it might work, but after rebooting and such, it is still pointing to the documents folder instead of the add-on scenery. I guess it's not too big of deal; just have to take a few more steps to get to the add on folder. I did notice some strange behavior in other things though, such as my AFCAD 2.2 keeps jamming up now, taking a unusually long time to load the airports, and showing files as "unknown". Very strange. I think I may have too much stuff loaded on my sim now. Might have to delete and reinstall from scratch.

    Thanks for your help tgibson.

  5. Hey guys. I've been installing sceneries for years and have never encountered this problem: I added a few freeware airports today, and now when I click on "Settings - Scenery Library - Add Area", it is taking me to my Documents folder instead of the Add On Scenery Folder. I can manually navigate through to the add-on folder, but I was just wondering how to change it back.

Where is the file that contains the path for when you click "Add-Area" and how do I change it so the right folder opens up?

This was pretty hard to search for an answer to this, I've had no luck. If anyone else can find it, could you at leawst point me to the right topic on the forum? Plus I'll keep searching...

    Thanks. Andrew
