    Help Please!!  Running Windows 10 64 Bit, P3dv5 5.1.8.26742, LINDA 3.2.6.1111 and FSUIPC6 v6.1.9.

Have not used P3D for a month or so at which point Saitek Switch Panel and VRInsight Combo II worked fine with PMDG 737NGx and MJS Dash 8 Q400.

Starting P3DV5 now reveals the following symptoms:

    1. LINDA does not start automatically, needs manual start

    2. LINDA gives three greens to the Configuration Check List

    3. Selected aircraft is recognised and declared (tried both MJS DAsh 8 and PMDG 737 NGx) in the Settings Page, AIRCRAFTS drop down box)

    4. VRI MCP does not respond and displays power up settings only

    5. Neither MCP or Switch Panel responds with exception of Gear UP/Down and lights as per selection.

I have crawled though the installation but cannot see a reason save for entries in the LINDA Log file saying both devices recognised but fail to start. Am at a loss, would be grateful for some guidance.  I have resisted re-installing LINDA and FSUIPC6 at this stage. I have log files for both applications available.

    Thanks and Rgds - Roger

Same issue but with msfs, used to work before i removed one panel, reinstalled and also have 3 greens in config, aircraft recognised but no response with any switch... would be great if some advice could be offered as to what to try next.

    Thanks for feedback.

Indeed, anything can go wrong with such variable data.

Next time it happens, go to \My Documents\ folder and look for "latest_weather.txt"

It should have the last requested TAF or Metar, and is the text that is deciphered on the fly and spoken.

While the vast majority of symbols are accounted for, say "DZ" voice should say "drizzle", pretty sure there is the odd symbol not accounted for potentially causing issues at some point.

Send the file to support. Thanks

Will do when it happens again, thanks for replying.

JustFlight has a Xmas sale going now.

    Not huge.

    TTM

Yes they have 20% sales a few times  a year.... but dollars are tight 18 months into pandemic and with p3D losing ground to msfs im only buying 30-50% sales on airports i only occasionally fly into. That said, imaginesim are the scrooges, so if your desperate at least support a sale!

  4. Hi, i'm running p3dv5.2.22 using mce 2.9.39 to read out my own checklist items.... and annoyingly p3d has the info red text lines display one at a time each time a C/L item is read out?

It keeps this cycle going until the last item has been read out, which is distracting visually. I still want to be able to bring up the info manually so not wanting to turn off the info option altogether, but this auto displaying by mce of the info shouldn't be happening...

    Any ideas?

I guess the offer on the 737 NGXU doesn't set a buyer up for a discount when it gets released in MSFS2020. That ship has sailed right?

Unfortunately your correct as PMDG rarely offer any discounts, especially not across platforms. With msfs2020 proving to be a difficult platform to develop/make compatible study level aircraft for, there will be none offered, guaranteed.

Prepar3D V5 is known to occasionally crash, mostly due to exhausted GPU memory, which can happen under specific conditions, difficult to replicate.

Lockheed Martin will test their sim at max settings and high resolution and it checks out, so they could say 8 GB will do.

Throw in a heavy aircraft like PMDG, heavy scenery like ORBX and you really won't know for sure when you'll be hitting that limit.

MCE runs mostly as an external process to the sim for better stability, and to pevent speech engine consuming flight simulator memory resources.

It is fairly stable as it has been fine tuned over more than a decade.

The only times where it could crash the sim is when there is a new P3D release. Like moving from 5.1 to 5.2

If you have aggressive anti-virus like Malwarebytes or Bitdefender, I suggest you tell them to trust "Prepar3D.exe"

If you are able to reproduce the crash continuously with same set of conditions, would be more than happy to look at it.

Unless the crash report points at fsInsider64.dll specifically, as per OP input, it's hard to read too much into a simulator crash.

It is after all, the main reason users prefer to remain on V4. You need a 12 GB VRAM GPU in my opinion and even then you're only one turn to final into a heavy airport from CTD as LM wouldn't have tested things with all combinations of add-ons..

Not that it matters for this case (fsInsider64.dll hasn't been updated since P3D V5.1 came out), I suggest you update to V2.8.9.4 anyway.

Just download this patch, unzip and manually replace files inside \Multi Crew EXperience\ folder.

Hi, thanks for the detailed reply in which i mostly agree with. Long been aware of p3dv5 limitations, i have for quite some time dialed down settings so memory does not ever excede 4.0 gb (of 8gb vram), so most flights 2.7-3.2gb, with frames averaging 20-40. Also only use win10 defender but long ago excluded prepar3d.exe. But even though i upgraded mce since posting above to 2.8.9.4, p3d ctd twice more with mce files listed as the cause (once when mce co-pilot went to reply to atc and once just as the mce program nearly finished loading up), so i changed airport from the p3d defaults of PAOM to PAFA, and then no problem flying PAFA-CYZF, so perhaps mce does not like some airports? To be fair to your great program, most ctd flights for me are due to the simconnect window opening, especially GSX, sometimes ATC (default) and occasionally Active Sky (but not since they dumped simconnect).

I will try to log more details next time mce is showing as the ctd cause.
