Hi Pmdg
Ok so i am Engineer for Thomson Airways we have just fitted the split scimitar winglets to around 60% of the fleet, Just wanted to give you a abit for a insite of what is needed to be done to fit
the split scimitar winglets.
1x The wings have to be strengthened from outboard of the Engine to the dry area this is done in the fuel tanks.
2x A tap is fitted from the outboard of alieron to the wing tip this on the trailing edge. Now this doesn't make much visual different.
3x The Alieron have to re rigged upwards Again not much of a visual differents
4x The Old winglet are sent away to be modified to the split scimitar winglet so the fitting of the winglet is the same.
5x The visual differnt would be the strobe lights there have changed it to flash like the 787, But the rear strobe is still the same flash as before.
Ok so after speaking to a number of pilots there really is no change in the performance, only in crosswinds so i think there have changed it from 36 knots to 30 knots in crosswinds.
I would love to see the split scimitar winglet on the ngx most airlines are now changing to split scimitar winglet ,i don't think it would take much to change the strobe light flash and the modeling
the split scimitar winglet.
I really hope we see a update soon
Keep up the good work
