Thank you, that really seemed to help. I went from temperatures of over 200 at the hotspot, and now they are closer to 160-170. I did try undervolting before, but I don't think I actually messed with any of the custom values, so maybe that's why it didn't work before. I am still wondering, though, if it's normal to have to undervolt the GPU just to prevent the temp from getting so high, or if that still indicates there is an issue with its ability to disperse the heat properly.

Hello, so I have a Radeon RX 6600, and earlier this year I ran into an issue where I was playing Flight Simulator 2024, and I left the room for a little bit, and when I came back, my pc was off. Then, a couple of weeks later I noticed my computer was off when I woke up and wouldn't turn on. I took it to a repair place and they said that the MB had gone bad and replaced it with a new one. After I got the computer again, I decided to start checking the temps of everything, and I noticed that when I loaded the flight sim, my GPU hotspot temp would shoot up immediately and sometimes go as high 220-230F even when just in the menu but the GPU temp itself would only hover around 150F. From what I understand, this problem could be caused by the thermal paste no longer being effective; however I had only had the computer for about a year and a half and some things I have read say that it would take much longer for the paste to go bad. The other thing is that the issue really only seems to happen with the flight sim I play such as MSFS 20202/2024 and DCS world. I have played other fairly modern games like RDR 2, and I don’t seem to have this issue. I guess, before I go taking it apart and putting on new thermal paste, I just wanted to check if anything else might be causing the issue or anything else I should check. All the case fans seem to be working and I don’t see much dust inside either. I also tried undervolting the GPU as well as changing the fans so they come on earlier and run faster but that didn’t seem to make much difference. So, is there anything else I can check or do before taking it apart and putting new paste on? For now, I have enabled Radeon Chill, which seems to help in 2020 so at least I can fly in it, but it has little effect in 2024, which I have been scared to use as I don't want to risk any damage to the GPU. I would really love to be able to play 2024 again, especially with the Blackbird being released. Thanks

Hello, when I used P3D, I was able to create a custom STAR for an airport and have it display in the FMC. I want to do the same in MSFS and could use some help. I see the format has changed and is now a SQL database, and after looking around the file, I think I have a general idea of how it's set up and what I need to do to add my own procedures into the database; however, there are a few columns I am confused about what to put. For example, I plan to create my own waypoints that are not in the database using coordinates from Google Earth. I see some waypoints have a code of K1, K2, and so on, and I am not sure what code I would need to put for the waypoints. The other columns I need help with are: Type Usage Route Type waypoint description Path Termination. Does anyone know what I need to put in the various columns I listed? Thanks

Hello, my current GPU is a Radeon RX 6600. For some reason, when I run MSFS 2024, the hotspot temperature on my GPU jumps as high as 224°F, even when I'm just in the main menu, and I'm unsure what is causing it. The weird thing is, I can load 2020 at KLAX in the PMDG 777, and yet the GPU temp stays around only 130-140°F even after a few minutes, but if I load 2024, it seems to immediately cause the temp to jump, which I can feel coming from the PC and will drop immediately as soon as I exit the game. I know logic would suggest that it could be a problem with the thermal paste not being as effective on the heatsink for the GPU, but I don't get why the problem doesn't happen in 2020 as well, since the temps don't get anywhere near as hot. Any suggestions? Thanks

So currently I just use a basic joystick with a built-in throttle that sits on my desk but I would like to start building something that feels a little bit more like a cockpit. In some people's setups, I have seen something that attaches to your desk and allows you to put a throttle or joystick so it sits lower at a more natural height but I am not sure what they are called so I can search for them online. Also, is there a particular brand you would recommend? I want to make sure whatever I get feels sturdy enough. Thanks

Yes, I think I narrowed down the issue to specifically the water textures I can turn them up to high without issue, however, if I turn them to ultra then it causes the game to crash. As far as I can tell it looks like my graphics drivers are up to date and I was able to turn the water textures to ultra on my old PC so I'm not sure exactly what the issue could be. Thanks.

Any idea why it would be affecting just those particular settings, though? Also, I enetered my activation license and everything when it asked and it did say anything about there being an issue.

Thanks so what did the trick was deleting the CFG, which reset my settings. however I noticed that as soon as i turn up the gaphics for water textures and special effects it causses the game to crash. My specs are: CPU: Ryzen 5 5500 GPU: Radeon Rx 6600 RAM: 16GB HD: 2TB SSD So it should be mor than enough to handle it.

Hello, so I just reinstalled P3D V4 for the first time in a few years and installed some of my addons form ORBX and PMDG. However, when I click start flight the game loads, but when it gets to 100% it stops for a few seconds, and then the game just closes to the desktop with no error on the screen or log in event viewer. First, I tried disabling all my addons in the menu, and then I did a repair of the sim, but I was still getting the crash. Any suggestions on what could be causing this? I don't want to have to install the sceneries from ORBX again. Thanks

Hello, I am wondering if it's possible to set up a camera view in MSFS 2024 that I can switch to quickly that will place a camera near the ground close to my aircraft so I can watch it fly by like the tower view in FSX and P3D. I know there's the drone cam, but that seems like something you have to move into position every time. and would like something that I can just press a key and see my aircraft from the ground. So, is there any way to do this? Thanks

So I just started learning to fly the C-17 that comes with 2024 but I ran into a few issues with the AP and don't see a specific tutorial that covers the AP. So after I took off I engaged the AP switch and AT switch however I had issues with all the modes and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. So the first issue I had was with the ALT mode. I couldn't figure out how to get the plane to hold a specific VS that I set on the Panel. Secondly, I pressed the HDG hold button and could see on the HUD that it said HDG and showed the number I had set in AP panel, but the plane wouldn't turn to the heading only part way. Then lasty it seemed to take a while for the AT to kick in and hold my speed even though I already pressed the SPD hold button but even then it was a little iffy and it was holding me a few mach numbers below what I had set. I am familiar enough with most planes to know how the AP should work but cant get it to follow my commands no matter what button I press. So any ideas on what I could have been doing and how to get the P to work

Hello so I would like to start making some repaints for the PMDG 737 and 777 in MSFS. I have some experience making some basic repaints for P3D using Photoshop. The part I'm struggling with is what I need to do so the livery will show up in MSFS. Once I'm done in PS what do I do from there? I know there is usually something involving a .JSON file but I'm not sure how that works exactly. Thanks

Interesting thank you. Out of curiosity, did it stop at Canberra to get more fuel or just to pick up and drop off passengers? For example, did it take from Wellington with enough fuel to make it to Singapore?

Oh, I agree about the tiny airstrips. I used to fly the 747 into Valdez, AK in P3D. And I would have no issues with landing or taking off as long as I was light enough. not the shortest runway but only about 6500 which I think is short for a heavy For now, I want to simulate some realistic flights

Recently, I was watching a YouTube video following a 757 flight to an airport in Louisiana that I had never heard of for some maintenance or conversion work. I am getting a little bored doing pax or cargo flights to the standard airports like LAX, Sydney, London, etc. So are there any lesser-known airports the 777 might fly into either for cargo ops or for maintenance? I know they are built at Paime field and will go back there for maintenance but I am curious if there are any other places. Thanks

Hello, so I know this might be a longshot but I have tried posting on some of the developer forums but havent recieved any responses an figured I would also ask here. Anyway I like to fly out of Edwards AFB and have freeware version of the airport that adds a bunch of objects and textures to make it look more like real life. One of the runways (23L) has ILS but only in one direction and I would like to add an ILS to the other end. The thing is I’m not really sure how to to this, esepcially with a custom airport from a 3rd party. I was able to load the airport in the SDK editor following some tutorials but I wasn’t sure what to do from there. Also I am not even sure if the changes would have been saved to the addon airport or just the default one in the sim. So how would I go about adding an ILS to this airport making sure the changes apply to the addon airport and not the default. Thanks

Thanks that did the trick. I was able to do a quick test flight and got the plane to hold both the desired speed and heading.

OK so I will post a video below so you can see if I am doing something wrong. Before recording this I moved all of my addons outside of the community folder and then uninstalled and reinstalled the plane, but the problem still persisted. Also another issue I noticed is that when in the A380 for some reason I cant click on any of the dialogue options for ATC which make me think it's and issue with the plane. In the video you can see that when I hover the knob the cursor changes into a hand like it clickable except if I right click then the speed numbers in the MCP go blank. Thanks again for the help

That's what I thought, but as I explained in my post I couldn't get the knob to push or pull. The only thing that would happen is that the speed display in the MCP would go blank when I clicked it, but nothing changed on the PFD. I could change the numbers manually and would see the change on the MCP but the arrow next to the speed tape on the PFD wouldn't move.

So I have been flightsimming for many years, but I only ever learned how to fly Boeing planes. With the the release of the A380 from FBW though I decided now might be a good time to start and need some help. I have tried the A320 a few times, just doing some prctice patterns around an airport and learning how to use the AP but that’s about the extent of my experience with Airbuses. So I downloaded the A380 and figured I would just a quick flight just to get a feel for the the plane, however I ran into some issues with the AP that I coldn’t figure out even after reading the manual and I’m not sure if it’s something im doing wrong or a random bug. Basically, I took off without anything programed in the FMC and figured I would just fly around a little bit, manually managing my speed, heading, and altitude using the AP. Now I was able to get the plane to hold a vertical speed rate until reaching the desired altitude but I couldn’t get the plane to follow my desired speed or heading. When I tried adjusting the speed the numbers on the MCP would change however the arrow on the speed tape in the PFD would not change and the AT would not change the throttles to reach the speed I set in the MCP. I tired clicking on the knob itself but the only thing that would happen would be that the numbers go blank however I woudln’t see any changes on the PFD where it shows the indications of what modes the AP/AT is in. With the the heading knob, when I turned it I could see the arrow moving on the MFD, but again no matter how many times I tried clicking the knob I could not get the plane to follow the heading I set and nothing would change on the PFD. I checked several things making sure both the AP and AT buttons where engaged along with the FD but I couldn’t get anything to work except for the VS mode. I tried looking online but didn’t find any tutorials just explaining how to use the AP. One thing I did notice after watching a video someone else made on the A380 was that when they clicked the knob you could see the animation of it being pulled or push which I dont see on my end. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the plane with no luck So is there something I am doing wrong and if so is there a good tutorial that just focuses on how to use the AP? Thanks

Thanks hopefully at some point I can get a new GPU. I was just hoping I could get away with it if I flew in more rural areas without tons scenery and buildings. If I did upgrade my GPU, what's the minimum I would need? From what I understand Nvidia is better but could I get away with a Radeon 6800 or 6900?

I ordered each part individually and tried to put it together myself but I had to take it to a local repair shop because I must have not plugged something in correctly and it wasn't working at first. I built it based on a recommendation on here or Reddit when I wanted a new budget PC so I could finally play MSFS.

So, I would like to get a VR headset (Quest 2 or 3), but I am not sure if it would be worth it with these specs on medium or low settings. I don't know if it would help if I kept my flying away from big cities. I mainly fly the F-35 or PMDG 737 or 777. My specs are: Ryzen 5 5500 CPU Radeon RX 6600 GPU 16GB RAM 2TB SSD Thanks
