  1. It may be so, I don't know PMDG's relationships with Boeing, but the fact is that PMDG once planned to release an Airbus and then dropped the plan. I am convinced this would be -by far- the product that would be the best in terms of commercial success. There still isn't a high class Airbus product in the market - there has never been. THere is a decent one, but that's it. That's a business opportunity! If that will affect their relationship with Boeing, that's another story, and subject of PMDG's cost-benefit analysis.
  2. Indeed I've tested and I found out that the issue disappears when ASN isn't running. The FSX built-in weather engine doesn't cause the same problem. Also, running ASN with the turbulence slider set to 0 (zero) is also fine. However, there is a loss in realism there I believe. We can easily blame ASN but what if the 777 autothrottle can't cope with the more realistic turbulence? Best Regards, Michael
  3. What makes you sure they'll make money on it?
  4. Again thank you all for replying, indeed ASN generated turbulence when enabled causes the problem, I will monitor the other thread for this subject. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/454857-before-and-after-the-sp1c/?view=getnewpost Michael
  5. Well, PMDG is a business, not a charity, and needs to make some profit for the tremendous effort required to build a product of that quality. But there is no way they would make some money building a Tupolev or a DC-3, or even rebuilding the MD-11. An MD-80? Perhaps better chances there. I am sure they are reading this thread and they can definitely use opinions expressed here as a mini-poll - something they could also use by emailing all their customers and requesting some input. Most people would be more than happy to contribute. I read some good thoughts here - building an aircraft that is already available and with very reasonable quality isn't probably the best idea. Perhaps the 787 is a good option but perhaps too early for that to gather all the information and input required. I remember years ago when RSRandazzo said an Airbus would be the next build - but that was before PMDG got somehow "attached" to Boeing and dropped that plan. The truth is, the A320 series is one of the most successful airliners in the world, with a great future and many fanatics. The most decent product in the market isn't close to PMDG realism (yes I have it, that's my own view). Perhaps that's an interesting option? Boeing is a good friend, but doesn't pay the bills - WE do. Happy landings Michael
  6. I'm experiencing exactly the same problems, running latest ASN. Basically I started another thread about this issue (http://forum.avsim.net/topic/455070-777-autothrottle-unable-to-maintain-speed-during-approach/) I didn't search too well  . Unfortunately I don't know what the behaviour was before latest service pack as I purchased the T7 a week ago. Many thanks for suggesting that, I'll check without ASN and after disabling turbulence etc... [edit]
  7. @ Labox thanks for replying. Indeed I am using ASN. Very good suggestion, I will check without running it. Many thanks. @downscc Yes indeed I leave VNAV-managed speed well before final course. Thank you both, I will check without ASN and revert back for any other simmers who may run into the same problem. Best regards Michael
  8. Thank you all for your answers. Hand-flown approaches have imperfections obviously, but it is also visible with automated approaches with some wind. It is noticeable even with AP engaged in straight and level flight at low altitude, for example while waiting to capture the localizer. Anyone who has the time can try and reproduce; fly straight and level at 2000-3000ft for example, flaps 25, speed 160 and introduce a variable crosswind of about 10kts... my aircraft speed fluctuates from -10 to +20 knots, autothrottle struggles to keep up. This is something I haven't seen on the PMDG 737NGX or any other aircraft... Best regards Michael
  9. Hi all, I'm having a problem while flying the 772 during descents and approaches. I can see that the autothrottle cannot accurately maintain speed, even in very low wind conditions. During initial descent everything is fine. I usually lower the gear at the FAF and complete the landing checklist. Once I get the flaps to 25 or 30, speed usually at VREF+5, the aircraft cannot maintain it. Suppose we have a Vref of 138kts, I will see the speed drop to 132, when the power will get increased significantly and the aircraft will accelerate to 150+ knots and then back to idle, speed dropping rapidly again. Approaches get really difficult with this behaviour. Even though I am not new in the FS world at all, I am rather new in the PMDG cockpit so, experts, am I doing something wrong here??? Many thanks Michael.
