  1. My CTDs were because my memory XMP profiles were causing system instability. I had another game randomly crashing as well. I throttled it down and it's all running super smooth with zero ctd. Made a post about it with all the details there.
  2. Beautiful. How is it so smooth? I have a monster system as well with the LG OLED 4K CX and ROG Strix RTX 2080 TI, core i7-7900K. 32 gig ram running 3800, Terrabytes of NVME, etc. Is this all in post production?
  3. Been pouring over this for hours. I am positive that I solved it. I have had multiple hour(s) long flights thus far where I was only going about 10 min before the silent CTD. It was my XMP profile in my BIOS settings. I purchased this memory for my new system: Patriot Viper Steel Series DDR4 4400MHz Performance Memory Kit - PVS416G440C9K (x2) for 32 gig total running XMP 2 profile. This is on a MSI MEG ACE Z390 mainboard. XMP 1 runs at 4394MHz and XMP 2 runs at 4264MHz. My system was unstable for most uses at XMP 1 and even at XMP 2 - which I had been running seemed *mostly* stable. Ghost Recon was also randomly crashing and it was driving me nuts. This change also fixes that issue as well. So, I throttled this memory down to *3866 MHz* with the built in BIOS / SPD profile and ran Prime95 for a few hours. No crashes. Hopeful, I loaded up MS FS 2020, 45 min in and it was solid as a rock. Note: I had OC on my 2080 TI and my i7-9700K proc turned off, BT disabled and gimped all my settings, turned AI traffic off, etc. Once I got a few hour(s) flights completed, then I started to re-add all the other things. I used MSI Dragon Center to go "Extreme Performance" mode OC for my processor i7-9700K" and still solid. Then ASUS GPU Tweak to run my ASUS Strix ROG 2080 TI at an "OC Mode" and still solid, then re-enabled BT. Still good. Went all settings to Ultra, AI traffic, live wx - all good! So, in summary, memory XMP profile was too much for my system and had to run my memory at a slower clock but still higher then average memory speeds for this platform. I know that this may not work for you. I got the idea in the MSFS 2020 CTD thread. It was the one thing I haven't tried. I am happy!
  4. Yea. I flew through it yesterday from Cancun to Key West. It was smooth as butter - the winds that is. For some reason, the winds weren't being portrayed properly, like if I were to select Storm in WX settings. It was odd. Anyone else get this too?
  5. I am getting this as well. I've seen other videos with Dev Settings on stating "limited by Main Thread". I'd like to know what these notifications actually mean. Asus ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080TI MEG ACE MSI board with 32 Gig of Patriot Steel Mem (running 3800) and core i7-9700K.
  6. I uninstalled P3D v5 for sure. 🙂 P3D v4 is still happily living on my system with hundreds of dollars worth of scenery and planes. I sincerely hope that MSFS 2020 gets Carenado Hawker and the Embraer Phenoms. I love the Cessna business jets in MSFS 2020 but I would really love to see those Brazilian Beauties in this sim!!
  7. So, I thought I would update you all on my issues and where I am at now. I was able to get Track IR working and the sim running smoothly (crosses fingers). I submitted some CTD issues and received a somewhat generic response from Support. I'll post that in the bottom. Here is what I did to get it all working smoothly. - Made Sure OS and MS Store was updated. These are typically set on auto but I did a manual check. - UNINSTALLED Nahamic Sound application (like Dolby Atmos addon). - UNINSTALLED Acronis Disk Protect - Just using Windows Defender now. - UNINSTALLED ALL Visual C++ runtimes. - REINSTALLED only VC++ Runtimes 2013, 2015-2019. - Anecdotally, I am not sure what other apps will break. I think I had some legacy apps that used older VC++ 2010 runtimes. Guess time will tell... - UNINSTALLED SimConnect - I had two different Versions of these. - UNINSTALLED and REINSTALLED Track IR (latest version on their website) and made sure all game files were up to date and rebuilt my profile. - Updated my Virtual Disk Paging Files - min 4100 / max 32000 (min 4 Gig / Max 32 Gig) for C Drive. - Disabled ALL OC programs for CPU and GPU. - Ran Disk Cleanup on Drive C:, selected System Files, making sure not to delete Downloaded Files (for those on Win10 OS versions prior to 2004 - you have to be careful here) Multiple reboots later... - Ensured my Joystick was plugged in and calibrated (X-65F) - Ran Track-IR in Admin Mode - Ran MSFS 2020 in Admin Mode Flying from Fall City, Wa to Bella Coola, BC in a Cessna 208 B Grand Caravan. Smooth as butter and no issues. Been about 40 minutes. I did notice that this sim/game (whatever) is super pick about switching Window Focus (switching to another app) or unplugging / pluggin in ANY USB device. That is where I am at today. Here is the email I got back from Support... Note: If you are seeing issues, please file a bug. I work for a software company as well and appreciate it when people leave succient bug reports with data (like crash logs, MSINFO, DXDIAG, etc files). We can't complain about it and then not let them know that we're upset or what we are experiencing. That is how they will make their product better. HTH the community! -Lutraphobia. ************************ Support (Microsoft Flight Simulator) Aug 19, 2020, 10:10 AM GMT+2 Hi Lutra, Type "Flight Simulator" in the Windows search bar and select Run as administrator instead of launching the sim from the Microsoft Store or the tray. 8. Thanks everyone. I've tried all that. Sim seems stable enough without TIR running. Maybe its sim connect because i use this same rig with P3D v4? I'll remove both Sim Connect and Track IR, ensure all OC is "disabled" reinstall and run TIR first. I am sure I've been doing this anyway but I'll add it to the preload checklist. If it gets resolved with these steps, I'll repost my findings. Cheers, -Lutra
  9. I've noticed a rash of CTD and silent crashes when I am using it. Really frustrating. Logged a bunch of bugs on their ZenDesk website (go to the MSFS 2020 site and log yours as well) about my issues. Anyone else using this and having the same issues? Try not running the TrackIR app and see if it stabalizes. Hope this helps. -Lutra
  10. Attempted to fly a 172 w/ G1000 from Bella Coola to Port Hardy in thunderstorms. Got my word not allowed kicked into a mountain! It was like a butterfly in a hurricane! Tons of fun. Getting 40-50 FPS. All settings maxed out. Running Live Traffic and in most cases live weather (not that Bella Coola flight where I was playing around in storms and mountains) Running 4k @ 3840x2160 60Hz HDR, etc. Haven't tried the PC settings in the nVidia control panel to bump it up to 120Hz just yet. I'll lose HDR but it's a trade off. Intel Core i7-9700K - running stock clock with Cooler Master Liquid ML360R. MSI MEG Z390 ACE LGA1151 Patriot Viper Steel Series DDR4 16GB (2 x 8GB) 4400MHz Asus ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2080TI Overclocked 11G GDDR6 - using OC settings from ASUS GPU Tweak Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PCIe M.2 where my FS2020 install is (yes, I know my board only supports gen 3 M.2 but it's still faster then my NVME Samsung 950). HTH! -Lutra
