  1. Hi, My suggestion, "don't give up". I am not a pc whiz, nor an expert on MSFS. I have had some varied experiences with FSX on a laptop. It had Win 8.1 installed, and I eventually was able to fly Cessnas without too much pc stutter. (I didn't dare try the more complex craft.) Then I updated to Win 10. On trying to run FSX I got a message giving me a choice, choosing one or the other caused the program to crash. It never loaded. That was five months ago. I gave up. In the last month, Windows did it's thing and updated something or other. So I took a chance and clicked FSX. It loaded! I was delighted. I had done nothing. I have not tried FSX now for 10 days, so I cannot say if it still "flies". I will try again after I send this message. When it works, I stay off-line and have no other program running like Word. My copy of FSX is from a shop, the discs, not the Steam version. If after trying again, I find it does not work, I'll send an update. Best regards, Frank M
  2. Hi, I know the above, is an old 2012 post, but I will briefly describe my experience. I have Win 8.1, 1GB NVidia, 8GB Ram, an i7 cpu. FSX just about runs on it with a fresh power up, (I do not use any other programs before I click FSX. I use the Logitech F710, it is a bit erratic in operation at the start but once I get it going, I can control acceleration, climb/descent, turn, brakes, flaps, rudder, when flying Cessna 172. I have the D-X switch on the front set to "D". I would like more info on how to assign other functions to the remaining switches. (Perhaps they are of use in other aircraft, which I have not really used.) Regards, FM
