  1. Got it... Well I brought back my Saitek set today and will get my refund within the next weeks. I'll just fly with nmy Joystock. I actually have seen airliners that have only Joysticks. I have been to preoccupied with addons and such and have spend way to little time on setting up my Joystick, button and keys. I think it will be possible to get something that will suite me. I guess the sesitivity and such is trail and error. Thanks for all of your input. This ends my Saitek adventure.
  2. Here is the response from Mad Catz Just to be clear, this has to do with the Button that doesn't work and the fact that there is no way to program the Yoke. Also no way to get the official drivers installed with getting an error. tried this on 3 different computers. Anyway, tomorrow a road trip to Bangkok with my PC. If they can get something working...this one or replacement, I'm still interested, otherwise I'll take a refund and go back to my Logitech.
  3. Yes yes yes LOL tell me if I got it right. I steer left and the ailerons come in actionand the plan banks. When i centre my yoke, the aileron centres too, but that doesn't mean I level of. I'm still in that bank. For me to get level, the aileron on the other wing has to get me there. So sensitivity is very important, right. You want the yoke to make contact and move the aileron pretty fast. in other word, you dont want to have to turn 15 degrees before there is any movement. DId i get this right? if so, thanks for explaining it in a way I could understand. MarKDH From the way things work as written above I understand what you are saying. But would you say that it's easier to fly a 737 with a Joystick or yoke?
  4. Sorry to bring this old thread back to life. I've been looking all around the web for this topic. My Yoke is broke without a doubt but that is more a button that doesn't work. Another problem that I seem to have is the same as OP. I have no idea how a real airplain flies, i was just looking at auto pilot behavior and it seems that the yoke steers into a bank and then goes centre but the bank stays i tact. This just doesn't make sense to me as a newbee. This would mean that a slight corrections have you all over the place. So what Sargeski is saying...Ill ty to break out the math here. My yoke steers 45 degrees both ways. I bank to the right lets say 30 degrees yoke action. If i oversteered and want to make a minor correction to the left, i have to centre, then make the correction to the left. Now let's say I over corrected, now i need to go back from centre, back the the 30 degrees right before my yoke affects the ailerons. Somewhen tried to explain in another thread that i started a few days back, I might have misunderstood what he was saying. I would love a comparison with a car. WHen i steer to the left i circkel to the left. When I turn my steering wheel back to center, the car will continue straight. So with a plane this is not the case? How does using a yoke make fying easier, compared to a joystick. I really thought that I would be in total controle with a yoke. I really thought the aileron would follow my steering left - back to centre - right. This Is really bothering me because I havea feeling i wasted money on buying this yoke and paddle set. I'd love you input.
  5. I really think it's a driver problem. When RichD said to get rid of the Saitek drivers and use SPAD. He actually meant FSUIPC. But was he talking about drivers? I heard before not to use the Saitek drivers, but what are my options for other drivers? Anyone Used different drivers for The pro flight Yoke? It's easy to understand why not to use the software, but it would surely need drivers. Sorry for directing my question to the forum at whole RichD. I do this so everyone feels invited to answer. i don't expect you to be online 24/7, but i would love to hear from you of course :-) I'm sitting in front of my computer and not leaving till its fixed
  6. Scary, I paid the hefty sum of 350 Euros for the set. It's because the country i live in. Sending something back is not an easy undertaking. Anyway, let's stay optimistic and try to fix this. In short, delete the software of saitek. Keep the drivers. Calibrate with windows. And figure out how FSUICP works. That last task seem pretty complicated :-) I spend the last hour reading up. Ill have a look on youtube it there are any tutorials. It's another investment and I wanna make sure it's worth it. Nothing is going my way. I bought REX Textures and Soft clouds last Saturday. I'm still waiting for my download. I keep visualizing everything working in time for the vatsim event this weekend Would you agree when I say that it isn't a hardware problem? I was really afraid of that but when I calibrate, the movement of the yoke is followed exactly. So that means, when i move to the left and go a little bit back to the right, the movement is picked up.
  7. Thanks for your quick reply. I was thinking the same thing about the yoke. In my case if i steer right and over steer, the only way to correct is to turn the yoke all the way to the other side. SO not good! What the timer is concerned, that button is really defect. I understand how it should work but it doesn't. Also, in LINDA and Microsoft calibration, that button doesn't work. So in short, I get FSUIPC and with that I can calibrate? Do I need to delete stuff? Just to be clear. I have downloaded the saitek drivers and also software. Plus there was something to make Saitek work with FSX called ProFlight_FSX_Plugin_7_0_40_9_x64_Software. All tips are welcome because till now it feels like a cold shower. thanks
  8. I bought a Saitek pro yoke and pedals. Was looking forward for it to arrive. A week later and it's here :-) However, I'm now doubting this buy. A minor problem is that the start stop button doesn't do anything. Meaning that my display doesn't work as a stopwatch. The biggest issue I have is the steering itself. When I steer to the right, i can just let the yoke go back to center but I still keep banking right. If I want to level off, I need to steer left until I'm straight and then move the yoke back to the center. is this how this Yoke works, because in that case I'm better of with my Joystick. I'm currently programming with LINDA...I might missed something :-(
  9. It makes sense indeed that charts would be pretty similar. But that is the problem with youtube tutorials. If you're a newbee, everybody else seems to be an expert. It's great that I have the info that i needed. Everything is there to figure out the meaning of the content of the charts. Hahaha, I thought you meant something else. Signature done, sorry for that.
  10. Thanks for the links guys. Just what i was looking for. Jeppesen caters to real world aviation if I'm not mistaking. Would make sense that people using their charts will have had real pilot training including chart reading. However, I visited their website and found that they offer free weather webinars. Sounds interesting. In my opinion, many simmers and potential customers of navigraph have no clue when it comes to charts. Why not just pull up a couple and go over them. I download some more videos today and saw that they actually using the charts and showing real life/sim applications. They must have spend quite some time making those videos. Jeppesen doesn't find it necessary to do anything with tutorials, Navigraph does. So what I'm saying is, why not make a few videos for the absolute novice. There also seems to be a difference between the charts. I saw some videos on Youtube where people got stuck because the charts had a different layout but also content written in ways they didn't understand. Anyway, I have what I needed :-) I have sent you a PM about this on 22 October.
  11. Hi pccubine, Thanks for your advice. The charts I use must be the latest ones because I recently downloaded them. Every time I want to fly to a new airport, I have to download the new charts. I pay around 9 Euros per month and was about to cancel that subscription. That was before this issue. I just flew EHAM - EDDM and it was perfect with charts and plane. I might go for the yearly. Yes, you can get the charts for free, but I like the way it's setup and everything is so easy to find. Brings me to one point. Those videos (tutorials) they offer at navigraph are a bit weird in my opinion. I would expect them to make some videos where they explain their charts and all the other info they offer. Instead, it's just a bunch of departures and arrivals. I was looking for a navigraph section on this website to ask this question yesterday, but I couldn't find it. Anyone know something about this?
  12. Hi I have this problem with routing. I had this problem a couple of times with STARs in Europe and I thought it had something to do with my inability to read charts. However, I did some studying lately and I really cannot find the anything wrong with my reasoning. So please find some screenshots attached and compare them with your info if you would. I'm especially interested in the TRUKN2 because that is the one I wanted to fly today. Not to be found in my PMDG FMC. The chart info is from Navigraph. Just some other important info. I have updated the PMDG Airac to 1511 and also installed the FSX Navaids update. Thanks for your help. Jan Walters I just wanted to create this thread when I realized that the AIRAC I used wasn't from an official source. I had downloaded it a while ago before I even knew what it was. Anyway, I just used my Navigraph FMS Data manager and what do you know. Instead of 3 pages i now have 5 pages with SIDs. The one i was looking for is there now too. This means that I have been flying the last 4 to 6 weeks with this old information. I really spend hours and hours figuring out approach charts, not knowing what i didn't understand. I think that my flying experience is about to get better. :-) I didn't upload the pictures because they are of no use. The moral of this story: USE OFFICIAL SOURCES!
  13. I'm slowly looking into all of these options. It's hard to structure the whole learning process with youtube tutorials and forums, but not impossible. The free charts are a great deal :-) I only have a navigraph subscription for a month and will be canceling. However, it is very well laid out and structured. Doing it any other way will include some more research to find good free sources. simbrief is great. I had a problem with the outdated AIRAC but found a video on youtube on how to solve that. I used my navigraph code to to get the latest version. Cancelling my subscription with Navigrap will probably mean that i cannot update this cycle anymore in the future. I read a very old thread about navigraph. Someone asked for information..Should he buy or not. He too got some great advise but probably already had his mind made up and was only looking for confirmation. My point is that I took some useful information from that thread too. This seems good: http://www.aircharts.org/ Thanks for the help.
  14. Hi Guys, I hope this is the right forum otherwise, please move it for me. At this moment I'm getting my feet wet in flight planning. if seen a lot of options for this. I decided on the free onlineflightplanner for a simple flight plan and I took a subscription Navigraph Charts for 9 Euros a month. I must say that its pretty hard like this. The hardest part are the transitions. For example, the STARS for EDDM doesn't really add up from the route I took from Eham. You might not understand what I mean with so little info, but the point is that i have been struggling with it. Now i saw a website that had software called Professional Flight Planner X. As I read about it, it seems to to able to plan from take off to landing. Of course, I don't want to make it to easy, There should be some planning involved, and I'm not sure I would like to program my FMC from external software. But it seems that it has charts (save 9 euros per month) and takes real real weather into comncideration. This will work perfect with my active sky add-on that i just bought for my fsx SE. Anyway, I was just looking for some opinions. tnx Jan
