Flight Control Check
@rondon I'm sorry, but I understand that my answer to your question got a little convoluted and hid my point: On the line you don't check the Synoptic, because this step is not provided for by the Normal Procedures (cf. "Alpha Floor"'s post above, #6). If, as a technique, you want to have a look at it, do it; still it is an unnecessary---for the reason I gave you, and which is something I just inferred; i.e., it is not clearly stated in any pub---manipulation of the system. A better one could be to open the window, lean out, and visually check the movement of the surfaces, just like in the old days, flying a Cessna.:-D @pcubine The Display showing the Airspeed, Altitude, Attitude Indication is called PFD--Primary Flight Display; the one showing Navigation information is called ND--Navigation Display; the one showing EICAS indications is the EICAS Display, and the lower one MFD--MultiFunction Display. Flight Control Check
Hey Rondon, it is actually true. The rational behind it being that, unlike in other birds like Air-bus (but not Air-craft) where you have a joystick, and you actually have to pull out the synoptic, the yoke gives you an immediate "feedback" of the actual position of the Flight Controls (if this wouldn't be the case you would end up with a bunch of EICAS messages) and, above all, of what the other guy is doing: therefore, once you have determined that the Yoke returns back to the center position, you can assume that the Surface(s) just tested is properly working. Why to complicate life? Remember: Boeing builds airplanes for pilots: you pull--->Earth smaller, you push--->Earth bigger, and the rest is philosophy. Pinko Palla

Switching from App to V/S on approach
@ davidfein First you have to determine if you're above or at or below 1500ft RA. If above, just push APP Sw. a second time: you should revers to basic mode; i.e., HDG|TRK SEL (Roll Mode) and V/S|FPA (Pitch Mode); then what you need to do is to select LOC. If at or below 1500 ft RA it gets a little more tricky: A/P - Disengage F/D (Both) -OFF then ON A/P -ON Engage Lateral and Vertical Mode But the question is: Why would you do it at this stage; it's better (= safer) to go around. Finally, if what you wanna do is just a manual landing, what about simply disconnecting the A/P (through the disengage switch) and keep on following the ILS? My nickel. Pinko Palla

PMDG 777 Suggestions offered and Support requested
I don't mean to drag on with this topic---after all I've marked it "Solved"---but let me throw my dime, also because, as a result of my background, I really LOATH to brake rules: it makes me feel awful. [MOD: EULA discussions are prohibited on AVSIM] Finally, are you guys interested in any suggestion? Oh, and do not forget: If it's not Boeing, I' m not going! :-D Pinko Palla

PMDG 777 Suggestions offered and Support requested
Oops! I'm afraid I selected "Customer Forum"; after all the only thing I know is that if I pull the yoke the Earth becomes smaller, and if I push it the Earth becomes bigger, everything else is philosophy. ;-) Thank you for the reminder; just one last question: can I do those activities on a personal level, at home, in my studio, only me and myself, or I have to limit the use of the product to... Thanks for your courteous attention Kyle. Have a great day! Pinko Palla

PMDG 777 Suggestions offered and Support requested
Hello everybody! This is my first post, so please, bear with me. I was looking for support to my PMDG 777 and I've been redirected here. I have the honor of flying the 777 and I'm using the Sim as a tool for preparing myself for the PPCs (through the use of the Failures), or if I have to fly to an unfamiliar airport (to study the peculiarities of its approaches) , or just to exercise the instrument scanning. Whereas in the second and third case the product fulfills the task (almost) perfectly, in the first case I think there is room for some improvement: so I would be more than happy to pass some suggestions to the Developer Team. Let me know. Have a great day y'all! Pinko Palla
