  1. Thanks, but aren't new cards released frequently? And I would assume the newer they are, the more expensive, right?
  2. I have an AMD Radeon HD6670 1GB DDR5 that's on its last legs. The fan whines and it seems to slow down the whole system at times. I have 2 monitors, both with DRI and VGA inputs only (no USB, etc.) I enjoy Flight Simulator and am excited about getting the 2020 version. I have seen Microsoft's system requirements which to me is not all that useful because there are only 6 graphics cards listed (minimum, recommended and ideal.) I know there are dozens of graphics cards on the market now. Can anyone please give me a list of maybe 10 cards I should look into? I want a nice one but I don't want to break the bank buying one. This way I could shop for the best deals on the cards. I appreciate your time and effort in advance. Thanks, Dave
  3. Vector, regarding your post: "Program SIDS, STARS and Approaches [using RNAV whenever possible] directly from published charts into my flight planner AND then update the FS Approach database for the charts you are using.... then FSATC knows which STAR you are using and direct you accordingly. FS ATC does do STARS but of course the FS9 approach database is from 2004. Firstly one needs to learn how to use it (0.1% of simmers) and update it. (0.0001% of simmers)Flying without ATC is very unrealistic IMO. I like FSATC as it can be manipulated/updated and it looks after my AI on the ground and in the air." 1. I understand your concept of programming SIDS and STARS into the flight planner, but unless I am mistaken, when using ATC, the flight plan is basically out the window. ATC usually vectors me away from the flight plan into flying the heading that it wants me to. How do I override that? 2. I think I have a basic concept of how to use ATC, but can you elaborate on what I might not know or refer me to a proper tutorial? 3. I am all ears about how to update the database. May I ask how this is done?' Thanks, Dave
  4. Vector, then how do you take off from and land at large, heavily used airports, such as JFK and O'Hare without using AFC? Just fly and ignore the in air and on the ground traffic?
  5. Thank you all for your time. So just to clarify, when I am using the default FS flight planner and default FS ATC, I will not be informed by ATC which Approach they are vectoring me to, only the runway, right?
  6. When I am flying an IFR flight plan, following ATC commands, when I am nearing my destination and ATC starts vectoring me in, is ATC actually vectoring me according to a published Approach that I can use the chart and GPS as an aid, or is it just random commands that may or may not be the same each time I fly the same flight plan? If ATC is actually vectoring me according to a published Approach, how can I tell which one it is? Thanks, Dave

  8. Hi. Can I pause a lengthy flight and continue it another day? If so, how, please. Thanks, Dave
  9. I know that, but my lights never seem to come on, even during an ILS approach and the MKR button engaged.
  10. Its in FS9. View option on the Menu bar. In the Cessna 172 for example, check it, and a small rectangular box on the upper right of the instrument console padding opens up but seems to do nothing. I did the same on the Moony Bravo and saw no change in the display.
  11. Hi all. Regarding the Outer, Middle and Inner runway lights on the instrument console, when do they actually work? I have the MKR button engaged on the radio stack but the lights never seem to light. Do I need to do something additional? Thanks, Dave
  12. Hi all. Can anyone tell me what the attenuator is, what airplanes it works on, and what it does? Thanks, Dave
  13. Hello all. Are there any web sites from which I can download user created flight plans? Sometimes I just don't know what to do. Thanks, Dave
