Hi - I just found a possible solution to the "rebooting" problem in both XP11 and XP12.  In the .ini file, look for PowerSource = xxxx.  If it says AUTO, change it to AVIONICS_BUS so it reads

    PowerSource = AVIONICS_BUS.

If there is no line for this, just put it in the global settings (the top part) for [GTN_750_1] and [GTN_750_2].

I have just tested this in the AFL King Air 350 for both platforms, and it works - both GTNs are powered by the avionics bus switch, and the rebooting message is gone.

    Thank you for this!

  2. Reinstalled MSI Afterburner software and the precipitous drop in fps re-appeared.  It appears as though the RSS server software which is part of that application may be the one to blame.  There may be some sort of 'conflict' with this software and XP12 that's causing a huge drop in FPS.

Has anyone else seen this occur?

  3. Just thought I'd pass this on in case....recently purchased a Gigabyte 4090 to replace my aging 2080Ti.  In XP 12 I was getting about 15-25 FPS depending on graphics settings and scenery location.  Yesterday I installed the latest Nvidia driver 531.68 from the 'Experience' app.

Opening XP, I immediately started getting only 5-10 FPS (yikes).  Uninstalled the driver as well as 'Experience' and installed 528.49 driver only - now XP is running at around 45 FPS at 4K triple monitor 🙂

@jason74 when i installed from the installer  i pointed it to my xplane 12 folder and it said it was not a valid xplane 11 folder. I am definitely missing something . I did actually buy the installer again ( ill email them about that ) but when i installed it it said it was looking for a xplane 11 install. then i changed the folder to xplane 12 and it would not do it.

    thoughts... Pete

Initially I had the same issue.  Solved, when I downloaded the 'eCommerce Installer' from the RXP web page.  Ran the installer and selected the XP12 folder.  Works.

  5. I was experiencing the same issue in P3D v.4.5; finally found the issue - seems as though P3D saves some sort of flight file automatically.  I had turned on 'auto-save' in FSUIPC thinking that app would automatically save changes to any settings made in FSUIPC automatically.  Turns out - P3D was auto-saving the 'flight file' which was causing the annoying stutter.  So, the stutter I was experiencing within my hardware setup at least, has been solved!

Go into windows settings then open Apps then scroll down to P3D academic client, left click then uninstall but when it ask if you want to deactivate click no, then backup your P3D config file then delete the config, re-install the client start P3D it will build a new config you will now be back to default settings, use P3D in the default setting to see if the problem has gone if OK then tweak your settings.

In fact you can do this with three of the folders client , content , scenery without affecting you addons.

Thanks for this; it appears to have worked well

If you want to retrieve your Community folder, the easiest way is to open your UserCfg.opt file located here (My MSFS is installed on my E drive so disregard the first part of this path - before AppData - if your MSFS is on C drive):

    E:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-2664669059-4195190780-4106683977-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

Open this file UserCfg.opt and scroll to the very last line of it named "InstalledPackagesPath", you will see where your packages are (Community and Official).

"So do I just add a folder that says "Community"?" flightsimboy

You DO NOT need to create a Community folder, it is part of your MSFS install and is already here, you only need to locate it and create a short cut to it on your desktop, so that you won't have to look for it again in the future.

    :\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-2664669059-4195190780-4106683977-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

    WpSystem\S-1-5-21-2664669059-4195190780-4106683977-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

E:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-2664669059-4195190780-4106683977-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCgo the very last line where it says: "InstalledPackagesPath", it will show you where your Packages are (Community and Official).

    Thank you for this.

I've been simming for 40 years, I win 😁  ! Now don't take badly the following, no offence intended.

You are almost entirely right, item per item.

Then again I have just flown along the coast of Southern Thailand in real weather (partially cloudy, strong wind from the East...) with the excellent Milviz Porter equipped with the NXi, driven by my Warthog HOTAS and my MFG pedals. A big smile on my face.

So my conclusion, looking at the big picture, is that you are entirely wrong 😉 😄. I am not known here to be specially lenient with this sim but the bottom line is that it brings you, in spite of all the real flaws, a great simming experience.

Now why did I say 'almost' entirely right at the start ?

    - PMDG has already released a remarkable DC-6 and has announced a 737 soon. A2A has recently confirmed working on the Comanche .  Maddog will release soon their bird.Majestic is more a long shot, they don't seem so interested. But Milviz should release an ATR maybe in 22Q1

    - there is a G750 available but the integrated G1000 NXi starts to be  quite good.

-setting the controllers is a pain in the behind all right... as it was in P3D.

    Dominique,

You make some excellent points.  I did enjoy brief pattern work at KHYA in the MSFS / Carenado Seminole the other day and the scenery was very good.

The aircraft developers you mention are excellent.  However, IMHO if you have excellent aircraft in a simulator that is 'very rough around the edges' to put it nicely, it's kinda like driving a Ferrari on a rocky beach in Maine - not much fun.

Oh, BTW, we're practically tied - I've had a flight sim since 1983 on a PC Jr. with 5 1/4 disks (remember those?)

Thank you for your warm support!

You might be right, maybe sometime in the future during the next remaining 9 years of product shelf life, there will be enough reasons to use it. Please note if past releases pace is any indication, during that time you'll also get at least:

    - 2 or 3 major X-Plane releases in the next 9 years.
    - 2 or 3 major Prepar3D release in the next 9 years.

To put this in perspective, each of these could also break free from their past legacy and bring novel and fresh perspective to the genre, with every future major releases...

The RXP software is a fantastic piece of work!  Does that take the support from 'warm' to 'hot'?  Hehe

The software allowing integration to the RealSimGear GTN 750 brings both platforms to another level.

Very good points regarding XP and P3D.

  10. I have been a flight simmer for well over 25 years, starting with the original MSFS, ATP, P3D v.4, and X Plane since v. 5.

I believe that MSFS has a very long way to go for a number of reasons:

    • no integration with RXP Garmin devices, e.g. GTN 530 or GTN 750 - sure, you can go out and get the other package, but why leave RXP out in the cold?
    • Poor controller setup - I had to spend WAY too much time trying to set up my yoke and other equipment - fortunately, there are folks out there who post videos on how to tweak the settings.  The developers should have programmed the setup similar to what it is in XP11 so that the button assignment would visually trigger the appropriate key on the controller itself for a true confirmation.
    • Of all the devices, I believe the radio is one of the most used.  I can't stand using a mouse or keyboard.  Fortunately once again, 3rd party developer(s) wrote a driver so that my avionics panel could easily 'tune and switch'.  But I have to start two other add-ons. And I still can't use my GTN 750 touch screen (see first bullet).
    • Lack of triple monitor support - sure it may eventually be supported - 2023?  Stretching a 'windowed' version to a modest size works somewhat.
    • I'm in no rush to embrace the MS 'game'.  A2A, PMDG, Air Foil Labs and Majestic (Dash 8) have done a marvelous job of writing code for their aircraft in the other simulators.  Perhaps by 2024 MS and Asobo will reach the other major sims in their current iteration.

  11. I too have the Real Sim Gear GTN 750 and the AP - so far I believe all modes seem to work great in the 34; IMO an under rated aircraft (P3D)  I highly recommend the arezone sound package

Has anyone tried to increase the instrument lighting - during the daytime, many of the instruments are hard to read

Thanks for the info; I am aware that GPS is based on coordinates and not radio beacons.  The airport in question CQX only has an ADF beacon, and as I understand it, they were required to hold a public info meeting to add GPS (although there is an RNAV for runway 24) which would necessitate the removal of a number of trees and require easements from some homeowners around the airport.  Of course, the public thought that instead the runway was going to be lengthened (not), etc. etc. thereby permitting larger/more aircraft into this small airport.  Here is a recent article for your perusal from a local newspaper https://capecodchronicle.com/en/5439/chatham/4980/Airport-Meeting-Moved-Amid-Controversy-Over-Master-Plan.htm

  13. thanks for the info; yes, I know ADFs are old and outdated.  I do have an AP3000 that I do use to quickly tune an ADF if needed.  The particular airport I use a number of times, only has an ADF transmitter which is also why the FAA is asking the real airport to upgrade to GPS.

When I was trying to setup the GTN 750 for positioning in my RealSImGear GTN 750 bezel, I ran into the same issue. By experimentation, I found that by left clicking on the bezeless 750, then going up to View,  then clicking Undock Window in the dropdown, I could freely move the 750 where ever I wanted to. It must remain undocked or it zooms right back to its frozen position. Once I was able to position the 750 into the RealSImGear bezel, you need to maximize the 750 window, then go into Full Screen mode. That removes the window header and fixes the 750 in place, it must remain undocked.

    Thanks for this!

  15. Update:  I basically 'threw the book' at P3D by running the various 'simconnect' installers in the 'redist' folder and then noticed the Elite 'menu' item appeared but no USB driver.  Did that last item by re-installing the USB driver, tested a restart and now I can input frequencies manually from the AP 3000 unit instead of having to use the mouse - everything seems fine.

As an aside, LM really needs to re-write the entire P3D package and essentially place all working folders including add-ons in one root folder much like some other sims.  Why there are nearly half a dozen folders with various configs 'all over the place' is rather IMHO ridiculous.  Mind you, when the sim is running it is quite to very good, but introducing updates and other new 'add-ons' can quickly get you in some quicksand.

    My system:

    i5 6600 Skylake Asus Z170 MB, EVGA FE 1070 8GB; 32GB Corsair DDR4, Samsung SSD --900GB NVMe; Intel 500 GB; 3x Hitachi 2TB HDD

  16. Having much difficulty getting the Elite 64 software to appear in the 'Add-On' menu in P3D v.4.4 (had the Elite AP 3000 avionics panel working once).  Installed recent FSUIPC module and Elite driver a number of times with no success.

Suspect a startup conflict somewhere.  If there's a way to attach some *.cfg *.txt files please let me know

Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance

  17. Thanks for the info.  LINDA is a great tool - thanks for developing it!  I too have the PRO version.  I've found that XP11 and many of the aircraft work most of the controls on the AP 3000 utilizing the BAJU software interface.

  18. Hi,

New to LINDA, and the docs are great.  I'm using the latest versions of Linda and FSUIPC.  I can program a button to toggle NAV1 Ident, as seen on my "Elite AP 3000 Avionics Panel" but can't change/toggle LSK2 on the ARCDU to make NAV1 Freq. active, for example.  As stated, not user friendly to mouse click LSK2.

I have no idea on the code to execute in the Majestic module; also tried many other combos from the existing Q400 template as well as the FSX area.

Any ideas on how to program this or is this a 'Majestic' hard code issue?

With the above said, the Majestic and the TDFi are the only reasons I fly P3D
