  1. Anbody know if Nvidia Surround is supported in the new sim? I run 3 monitors on a GTX 1070 with Surround enabled.
  2. iFly 737. Installed it recently on my system (i7 7700K 4.2Ghz not overclocked, GTX1070, 32GB DDR4 Ram, 3 monitors with NVidia Surround, P3D 4.5HF3) and have not experienced a hit on FPS or smoothness. Pretty immersive and not bad price.

    Best 737

Some very insightful responses here, thanks. Think I'm sold on the iFly.

    Best 737

I'm looking for a detailed 737 to purchase, that is somewhere near study level, but that doesn't turn my sim into a slideshow. My currect specs: P3Dv4.5HF3, i7 7700k 4.20ghz, GTX 1070 (running 3 identical monitors 1920 1080), 32gb DDR4 RAM at 3000mhz. My only additional scenery is ORBX Global Base. With these specs I currently run the Majestic Dash-8 with ease. Which 737 is best?
  5. Majestic Dash 8. Can't recommend this bird enough for a great, immersive experience. Once mastered it's a very rewarding aircraft to fly. Hand flying a final approach in gusty crosswinds will keep you occupied. Currently flying ANA Wings schedule all across Japan. P3D v4.
  6. If you are using default ATC then there is a way to do it. When ATC assigns you to the wrong runway, choose the option "select another runway for landing". It will then offer you a side-step approach as others have pointed out. From there you must select the option "select another approach for landing". At that point ATC will give you the correct approach to the correct runway. Not a real-world scenario, but at least you will be cleared to your correct runway.
  7. Thanks Joe. That makes the issue even odder. For instance, when I installed UTL Japan Transoceanic Air 23 was correctly referred to by default ATC as "Jai Ocean 23". After running Editvoicepack it is referred to as "23". Not sure why.
  8. Just chiming back in here as the OP. Thanks to everybody for their contributions to this lively debate. I can see that the debate has also continued over on the TG early access forum. The level and passion of debate in itself is testament to the devotion of flight sim enthusiasts worldwide. Since originally starting this thread I have actually uninstalled TG. This wasn't particularly straightforward as (even using the TG uninstall method) bits of it were left behind to the extent that P3D would not start afterwards. Ultimately not too much of an issue though as I found a solution to that elsewhere on the (actually brilliant) avsim forum. Since uninstalling TG I installed UTL and made a few livery updates with FLAI - I am very happy with the results. I mainly fly in and around Japan and am very impressed with the traffic levels (set at 75% for me to achieve optimum results) on the ground and in the air. With the few livery tweaks I made, I am also seeing all of the local carriers that one experiences when flying around the Japanese archipelago, which was one of my goals. My FPS are pretty much identical to TG too so all good. I note that the TG dev has popped back up to indicate that it should be finished '[...] early next year'. I'll be interested to see what it looks like when that happens, but for now I have my AI needs fulfilled with UTL. One odd thing that did happen though. I noticed that a fair amount of callsigns were missing with UTL. I ran Editvoicepack XL but actually ended up with even less callsigns - not sure what would be driving that. I may actually give the pubic beta of this a try. It promises to inject all of the FLAI liveries into UTL, and may solve the missing callsigns issue too. Not sure if anybody else has experienced this issue. I'm Windows 10 home edition, and P3D v4.3. Thanks again folks! Tim
  9. Thanks for all your contributions folks, some really useful info here. Think I'm going to shelve TG for now and take a spin with UTL. I mostly fly SE Asia, a region where TG = mostly empty skies/airports at present. When (if) TG is finally ready I may return to it.
  10. Background - I was for many years a commited Microsoft FS user, from FS2000 through to FSX. In FSX I had many great add-ons, including Traffic 360. In December last year, I took the plunge and moved over to P3Dv4. Since moving over (generally very impressed with P3D) I've been on the lookout for a good AI package. Although UTL caught my eye, I did not purchase. I opted instead to go for Traffic Global in early access and see how that went. One of the big selling points for me was the quality of the aircraft models. They really are first rate and have not adversely affected FPS at all. So far so good (this was in early June). Since then I've installed several updated versions of TG but have not really seen a huge difference in each update. The main issues for me are: To date only 40k flight plans (yes, I know it's early access but it's hard to evaluate truly how "Global" it is if we have to benchmark everything at EGLL at 9am). The nature of flight plans (point to point only). Thousands of compile errors where parking cannot be found at airports (on the early access forum many people have called this out but the only answer from the dev's is that this is expected behaviour - perhaps if this was solved then there would be a lot more than 40k flight plans). Distinct lack of traffic for Asia Pacific (again, I know this is early access but so much is missing - Haneda and Narita are particularly empty). Also, this is the first time I've purchased software in "early access". As such I'm not too sure what the cadence should be for dev responses in the forum. A few people have complained about a lack of response. Sometimes it does feel pretty quiet on their forum. I'd love to get a sense of how TG stacks up against UTL. How do the aircraft models compare? FPS? Asia Pacific coverage? Flight plans? Does UTL solve parking and gate positions for default airports? Ultimately I'm looking for an AI package that pretty much works off the shelf - TG seems to lead down a million rabbit holes of manual AFCAD alterations etc. to get anywhere near. Thoughts please. Tim
