  1. Come join Aussie Owen Zupp, airline pilot & award-winning aviation writer, as he flies solo in a light aircraft around Australia in 2010. Enjoy beautiful Australian scenery, especially the famous remote outback/backcountry, & learn a bit about Aussie aviation history. Part 3 is Broome thru' Perth to Forrest. Hope you enjoy. Cheers. Note: Owen flew an Australian Jabiru J230 but there isn't one in MSFS yet, so we'll use a sort-of-similar German FK9 Mk IV in this Part 3 video, with real-live footage of the FK9 at the end of the video.

  2. This is an updated version of my Jan 2023 video on the crash of two Boeing 747s (Pan Am & KLM) on the runway of the airport on the Island of Tenerife, Canary Islands, 27 March 1977. This update includes additional information on the crash from official sources, and a short interview with the surviving co-pilot from the Pan Am aircraft. With a death toll of 583, it remains the world's worst civil aviation accident. Hope you find it interesting. Cheers.

  3. Much loved & respected Bert Mercer started New Zealand (NZ)'s 1st licensed airline with his De Havilland Fox Moth in 1934 servicing the rugged, west coast of NZ's South Island. His airline, Air Travel (NZ) Ltd, grew in scope & popularity & provided valuable service during WW2. It ceased operations when subsumed by NZ's nationalisation of its airlines in 1947. Mercer himself died tragically as a passenger in one of his own aircraft in 1944. Hope you find it interesting. Cheers.

  4. At 10.31 am, on 30 June 1956, TWA & UAL airliners collided mid-air over the Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA, & crashed into the Canyon. All 128 people on the airliners perished. At the time, it was the worst aircraft accident in the USA. It shocked the nation & the world. It led to the eventual radical improvement in ATC through changed procedures, new technology & more personnel. Hope this video helps us to fly even more safely.

  5. Come see this sad video about Australia's only mid-air collision between two civil aircraft in IFR flight. It happened in 2020 & took the lives of four people including my own CFI. It should never haver happened. We'll look at the circumstances of the accident & what's been done since to help prevent the same sort of thing happening again. Again, the Swiss Cheese Model of Accident Causation applies here. Hopefully this video will help those of us who fly for real to be even more safety conscious.

Interesting indeed, history i never knew about.

On a different note: In the outside view of the plane from 8:49 in your vid, how did you get the altitude, speed, fuel etc. displayed so small at the bottom of the screen? If i take it to the outside view i see all those data displayed in full with their respective gauges etc. which takes away from the complete view.

Ah ha, good question! I use this all the time. When not videoing, I actually like the larger one. But when videoing, I like the smaller one or not at all. Go into Assistance Options, then User Experience, then go down the list to Instrument Heads-Up Display and there you can change to large, small or none for both chase cam view and cockpit cam view. Cheers.

  7. In this series of videos we will review most of the available freeware airstrips in Papua New Guinea (PNG). The Part 1 video covered the first 5 highest airstrips. This Part 2 video covers the second 5 highest strips & provides hints for shortfield takeoffs & landings, so necessary in many of PNG's challenging bush/backcountry strips, high in mountains, low in valleys, often short & sloping with difficult approaches & limited or no go-arounds. Come see how I go in a Cessna 152 & then give them a go yourself. Hope you enjoy. Cheers.
