Come redo the 1921 record flight of famous Australian aviator, Francis Briggs, using his own words, from Melbourne, Victoria, to Alice Springs, the remote, outback, red-centre of Australia. This was the 1st flight ever to Alice Springs. This video is Part 2 of 2, Adelaide to Alice Springs. Part 1 was Melbourne to Adelaide. Hope you enjoy. Cheers.

Hi Noel, 100% openess here, but ….. often in life, how you say something is more important than what you say! Plus, I fluked a very wise choice of partner! Pity though that she is not as keen as me on simming! Cheers.

Well, I must be a fool then. Very happily married to the same woman for 42 years so far. More in love all the time. A very happy fool maybe! Cheers.

Sorry, don’t know the answer to your last question, but you have reminded me of my visits to Moorabbin airport which is Melbourne’s equivalent to your Parafield. I used to visit by myself as a young kid to watch the aircraft. Then I used to take my much younger brother - he soon got bored. Years later I used to take my 2 boys - they soon got bored. I took my wife once - that was enough for her. Then it was just me and the dog - he loved it!!! Then the dog died, so it was back to just me. My excuse now is that I have to visit the pilot shop for my RL recreational flying needs, but I hardly ever buy anything. There must be something wrong with me! Cheers.

Nice pics, OP. Not sure what the WA is in your post - couldn’t be Western Australia because the airport is of course in QLD, Queensland. Cheers.

I spent quite a few hours working in the old one.
Yep, 2 actual towers as in Google Earth. We must be showing our age because I spent some time there as well in the 1970s, but not as ATC. I was a young DCA engineer managing some upgrading projects to the control consoles in the Tower. We may have crossed paths without even knowing! Cheers.

Ah, I was wondering about that little wrench symbol. I just assumed when it did not appear then maybe the add-on was not working. But now I see it is more likely that a lazy developer did not add it. Would be great if we could fix it ourselves. Cheers.

Nice vids, but have I missed something here? I see the same view as when I position myself as far back as possible. Cheers.

Of course, yes. Cheers.

Qantas FOUNDERS Museum is a nice visit IRL. People often think Qantas was Australia’s first airline, but I think it was actually Western Australian Airlines (WAA). Cheers.

Nice. Visited there from Australia just as Covid was starting. Quite moving to see the actual location. What a clever fellow to put it down there. And what a great pilot to do it so well. Cheers.

Yeah, but the aircraft I hire is not mine - I hire it from my flying school/club. I think they believe the best way to learn is to hand-fly because none of their aircraft have autopilots. Cheers.

Nadzab, Lae, PNG - 1st successful & best airborne op of WW2
in Aviation and Flight Sim Video Forum
Posted · Edited by FrankPilot
Come visit Nadzab (just outside Lae) in Papua New Guinea, and associated areas, and see how American and Australian paratroopers carried out the 1st successful airborne operation of WW2 and one considered to be the best "text-book" example of an airborne op. Also see the massive air-base they built at Nadzab to help take the war towards Japan. Hope you enjoy. Cheers.
