Hi there, We finally can announce we finished fine tuning the wing flex system! It's the first time ever you will see a true simulation of how the real A380 can achieve this incredible amount of lift. See video: https://streamable.com/5ov7sc

Hi there, A lot of work was recently done to make that beast of a plane as much alive as it can be visually, so you can really feel you have the real plane in front of you. While we developed a completely new wing flex system, we also added some more details that we hope you’ll like! In this first clip, you can see we added a surface vibration model that will shake plane elements when you cross a tarmac patch or….. overrun the runway. The massive stabiliser (almost the wing span of an A320…) will react to those vibrations, but furthermore it will bend from aerodynamic forces of the elevator surfaces. The whole aft cone structure of the plane will also have a torsional stress from the rudder aerodynamic forces. And of course, the new wing flex system is reacting to fuel mass. If you look really close, you could probably guess where is the fuel only by looking at the wing shape. This will eventually be noticeable as on the real airplane, where the fuel management system transfers fuel on the inner part, or to the exterior part of the wing depending on the flight phase.

Hi there, The A380 is an uncommon, huge kind of a plane… One wing is around 50 tons alone, and full of fuel it can reach around 150 tons. Yes, that’s more than the weight of two A320s… for each wing… For such an unusual mass of fuel and metal, we are experimenting with a new wing flex system from scratch, that can simulate the bending of the wing all along its length, with possible different resonance modes from the root to the tip. Each fuel tank has its own mass and position in the wing, and will drastically affect the wing physics, along with the position of each control surface. There’s still a lot of work to do, and the wing model is being reworked for full immersion, but we believe it’s the only way to bring you something as close as we possibly can to the real mighty A380!

Hi there, Flight Sim Expo in Houston was the place to be to see our latest A380 progress in action. In case you missed it, here's a clip showing off our new flex physics. Keep in mind this is done in extremely rough conditions (plus some harsh pilot maneuvers), where you would probably see passengers flying in the cabin, between coke bottles and lunch boxes.... We hope this will bring further life to the A380, and helps you get a feel of how massive this awesome airplane actually is. Seat belts please!

FlyByWire Simulations | A380X | Sneak Peek
Watsi posted a topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Hi there, It's been a while, so here's another sneak peek of the A380X - this time showing off the level of detail we've been putting into texturing. The team has also been busy adding animations, testing systems, and developing avionics behind the scenes. We hope to show even more previews in the near future! Going forward, we plan on showcasing development in the progress channel more often, and would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to join our discord: https://discord.gg/flybywire
