A work around trick for no ATC window with PMDG

Anyone found a trick to work around the fact that the ATC window does not show in P3D V3 PMDG planes? How do you go somewhere and check in to land?

LOL so it's not just me?  I decided to backdate ASN and take the NGX through Joaquin today and couldn't for the life of me get the ATC window to appear (first time I had tried in a PMDG in v3).  Couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, thanks for the heads up... now just to find a solution.
