Fly II 777 Bugs

Featured Replies

Hi.When enabling AP after takeoff, the plane first unaturally pitches the nose down to 0 degrees, before doing the climb the right way.And when landing a light aircraft, the touchdown is no good due to the problem with the wheeltrucks. I am not flying the 777 anymore because of this, only the 757.Are you ever going to fix this?

No answer to your question (sorry) but I would like to know what PMDG's support policy is for the Fly II aircraft. Are they 'as is' without any new patches coming or wil some of the more simple bugs be fixed when there is time to work on it.I'm very happy with the old Fly2K 757 & 767 and off course those older planes are no longer supported. I'm thinking about buying the Fly II 777 and 757 and will base my decision on the known issues with them. So it helps to know if some of these issues will get a patch.BTW What will the support policy be on the FS2002 757 NG? I heard it will be patched (when neccessary) for the new FS. How long do you give bug patches on your products?Harry BoschRotterdamthe Netherlands

Harry,Good points you have. I am not 100 percent shure if the nose-down after takeoff is a bug, but I know the 777 main wheels are. And that is ruining every landing, every flare. I really hope this will be fixed, and I am eagerly awaiting an answer from PMDG here! With the Fly! 767, I was able to make a "greaser" almost every time.It surprises me that the Fly II 777 is not up to that standard...I have no complaints regarding the Fly II 757.

Gents-I'm not sure what you mean by "support" for a product. We announced 6 months ago that we would not issue any further patches for FLY or FLY!II based products, as the remaining issues are related to the simulator itself and not to anything that PMDG can "develop out" of the airplane. This includes the gear trucks/suspension problems that are exhibited (these problems are the result of a poor development decision made in the implementation of suspensions withing FLY!II and has been well discussed here.)The pitchover issue that another user described can be the result of a number of different issues, including weakness in FLY!II's control logic or the user setting up captures that the airplane has a hard time holding. I know for a fact that FLY!II's autopilot logic, even though heavily re-written to accomodate our airplanes, does a poor job of managing certain types of maneuvers. Again- this has been heavily discussed here, so taking a few minutes to search through the forum would have revealed answers....I sensed a bit of frustration at my lack of attention to this thread- so I hope you'll understand my logic here: If the answer is already in the forum I often will skip to another thread (my time is limited!) and both of these products are quite old in chronology- (18 months and 12 months respectively) so it is not a good investment of developer time to continue researching flaws that could not be resolved during the products normal life-cycle... That being said- both products are still exemplary representations of their real world counter parts- in spite of a few minor sim-related hitches here and there! ;-)Robert S. Robert,It can be very difficult to find those old posts now and then, and it can be very time-consuming -for me too. I know you are busy, but still I had to post this one. How about a FAQ section regarding such questions, like in the Fly II General forum? I bet that would be great help to you, and the customers.Thx for reminding us exactly where the flaws lies.

Hi,Just did a search in this forum to find out what problems there where / are with the Fly II aircraft. I found this statement -> http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID32/487.htmlIf I read it correctly there will be no further patches. A little sad for us (I do use FS2002 a lot but occasionally I still start up Fly to enjoy the amazing TerraScene scenery and great instrument panels). I do understand the decission though.Maybe I'll buy the 757 but I already have the PMDG Fly2k 757 & 767 and the PIC 767 on the FS2002 side maybe I should kick the habit and stop buying every great addon there is :-)

I guess I'm pretty mild in my support expectations. I expect bugs to be fixed and my definition of bug is features not working due to problems with the add on itself. So features not working because of the parent program or extra features wanted that are simply not in the product don't count.I reread the tread I linked to (and yes searching this forum is very hard to do) and understand now that in that tread you where talking mostly about upgrades (like the Fly2K 757/767's had) and not about fixing bugs.BTW I wish you luck with your first FS2002 product (my Dreamfleet 737 can use a younger brother :-) ). Most new products seem to attract a small group of flamers that complain about every little thing that is not up to their standard. Be it a bug, an unimplemented feature or a problem in the hosting sim program.Thanx for your time!Harry Bosch
