May 12, 200323 yr Commercial Member Gents-I am not going to take sides on an AMD/Intel argument, I will just note that I've had difficult times with CPU freezes and high temperatures with my older AMD 1.2GHz. When I went to an Intel 2.4GHz, all is well, and cool!Cheers, Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
May 12, 200323 yr G'Day everyone. This might be off topic but since thats what everyone is taliking about, lol.Im currently running:AMD Athlon 2000XP (1.67Mhz)512MB DDR Ram80GB 7500rpm HDDGeforce 2 MX400 64MBJust woundering, how well is this system? I know the graphics card is old but I went to a computer shop the other day and looked at a GF4 Ti4200 128MB and it was gonna cost $425 (AUS). From what I can gather, this is expensive and Im only a 16yr old that cant afford it, lol. Does anyone know a newer card that might not cost as much but runs similar? I would like to get a comnputer upgrade before the jump to FS2004.Cheers,RyanP.S For the PMDG Team. Any very rough Idea what I could expect? I get about 20fps in the Meljet 777-300 (very detailed). This of course depends on where I am.
May 12, 200323 yr Lefteris, you are correct, many AMDs run hot but many P4s suffer from this issue also, the key is to have a nice cooler-fan lol.[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. May 12, 200323 yr I WILL Agree to that 100%...And if you consider the extra cash you will have to pay to get the proper cooling equipment for the AMD, the total expense will be the same as for the relative Intel P4 with the very good cooling system Intel includes!I know... I've been there... Twice!George DorkofikisAthens, Greece
May 13, 200323 yr I would visit Tom's Hardware Guide site before buying any CPU - they have a very good article comparing the performance of 65 different processors between 250 mghz and 3.06 gigahertz. Will give you a good sense of performance so you can do your own research of price/value.
May 13, 200323 yr wow that all sounds great, I have a lot to think about, any idea on the website for that guide? I really appreciate all of the support, as to the user who had the question on his system, It sounds really good fps but im not an expert

May 14, 200323 yr Hello i've been following the 737 project for a while now and first of all I would like to say that you guys are doeing a great job!!Now my question; I would like to buy the 737 very much, but however i'm running fligthsimulator on a laptop, a AMD Athlon 1600+ 256 MBRAM and a 32 MB (shared) videocard. I'm running products like the dreamfleet 737 and the georender fine, not easy, but fine. Is it smart to buy your 737 or is that just to heavy on framerates??please answer because i don't now or it's worth the money for me. And I don't want to be dissapointed.
