June 22, 200322 yr No worries guys! I did wonder why you put a time limit on the project, when you have always been very anti release dates. All the bestType rating??Simon Lloyd
June 22, 200322 yr Simon,I'm working on this right now. It *should* make it in the initial release but if it doesn't, I will make it available as a free download on our homepage.Sincerely,
June 23, 200322 yr Commercial Member Simon-(Note: Not picking on you...I'm picking on somebody else- but you brought the topic up, so...)One of our developers (marc) is also responsible for development of the web page. Nearly everyone at PMDG does double duty- and the web site happens to be his. I sent marc some sample text and had included a phrase that marc misinterpreted to mean we were planning to release "in 4 weeks."That phrase was active on our web site for...oh.....a day until I noticed it and had it removed? We have a guy out there who is all over the internet complaining that we didn't release the airplane in four weeks.... THIS, my friends- is why we don't discuss release dates at PMDG. If we'd released this airplane at that point- this same fellow would be all over the internet crying because the airplane wasn't finished...In other words- as a developer- you can't win. No matter what you include- somebody is going to say you make a horrible product because you forgot XYZ. No matter how good you make the systems, somebody will complain that the left off-center standby auxilliary backup crossover transducer alternate test switch wasn't modeled. No matter how many options you install, somebody is gonna be mad because you didn't install the ONE THING that he wanted....So....We don't announce release information.(But for fun we are going to start answering, "4 weeks," if anyone asks....HEHEHEHEHEH...just kidding...) June 23, 200322 yr Hey Robert,I fully understand the situation. I was not meaning to sound like a someone who was moaning on. Because Im far from that. Guy I think you have done such an amazing Job with this baby. I would be happy with anything that you produce - its really does look great! If some people wish to complain due to missing systems than that is there problem, there are just some people out there like that. I chat to a Flightsim painter alot and he tells me that once he recieved over 100 emails, because he painted one of his paints with the APU outlet represented incorrectly. From this day onwards we joke about anyone who is found complaining as an 'APU guy'. Just somes them up really - 3 CharacteristicsAN #### (who is)PARTICULARILYUNNECESSARY I myself am not one - I hope! All the very bestSimon Lloyd
June 23, 200322 yr Commercial Member Simon-HA! How funny.... A long time ago I flew with a F/A who was particularly whiney. My FO commented in the middle of that trip that our APU was on again. We don't have an APU on the J-41, so I looked at him with a puzzled expression and he explained: "You know- APU? Located in the back? Burns lots of enegry while whinning in a high pitched fasion, making lots of noise and hot air?"I nearly fell out of my seat I laughed so hard...So no, Simon. You are NOT an APU....:-lol Robert S.
