July 7, 200322 yr Hi GuysHere goes a few questions before we have the manual to consult.1) When trying to reach levels above FL370 (for instance FL390) the aircraft will level off at FL370 every time. This happens in full FMC VNAV mode.2) Is it possible to change the color of the font in the FMC? If I recall corrrectly, the color should be green IRL.3) During approach I get a "VREF NOT SELECTED" in the FMC, and I get a "Caution terrain" callout when approaching the field. This happens in full approach configuration (speed 180kias, flaps 5, >2500ft).4) In the "PERF" page under the field for selection of flightlevels the first numbers is preconfigurated to FL350. What does this mean? Thanks for any reply!Michael Olesenhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...or=SVA1&a=a.jpg

Boeing changed that in their new cockpits, so the B777 series have that white colour as well...Best regards,Markus Markus Burkhard

This>happens in full FMC VNAV mode. Not sure here - service ceiling on the NG's is listed as FL410...>2) Is it possible to change the color of the font in the FMC?>If I recall corrrectly, the color should be green IRL.Nope, that was the old CRT based versions like on the 767. The NG's are LCD and the text is white.>3) During approach I get a "VREF NOT SELECTED" in the FMC, and>I get a "Caution terrain" callout when approaching the field.>This happens in full approach configuration (speed 180kias,>flaps 5, >2500ft).Did you go to the FMC APPROACH page (hit INDEX REF) and select the flaps setting you're using? That's what puts the VREF on the speed tape. Flaps 5 is not "full approach configuration" - you want flaps 30 or 40, and the gear should be down to avoid the GPWS warnings.>4) In the "PERF" page under the field for selection of>flightlevels the first numbers is preconfigurated to FL350.>What does this mean?I believe that's the optimal cruise altitude, which might not be modeled if it's always showing 350 regardles of flight duration etc. Will have to get an answer from Anthony on that one...Ryan Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
July 8, 200322 yr "3) During approach I get a "VREF NOT SELECTED" in the FMC, and I get a "Caution terrain" callout when approaching the field. This happens in full approach configuration (speed 180kias, flaps 5, >2500ft)."In general, the "CAUTION TERRAIN" callout is a specific part of the "Enhanced" GPSW system fitted to newer aircraft (and retrofitted to older aircraft), indicating that the airplane is 60 seconds away from a terrain conflict. Enhanced GWPS is forward-looking, so may not be dependent on how high you are above the terrain at the moment. The EGPWS system is reliant on how well the aircraft knows its current position. EGPWS uses GPS signals for accuracy. Some EGPWS warnings are independent of airplane configuration.Hope this helps.Cheers.Ian.
July 8, 200322 yr I did not see anyone mention the gear? Glideslope Alive, flaps 15 and Gear down. It's normal for some warning etc for various reasons at certain locations like Ian stated, but Robert has asked that this be looked into because it might be a little to sensitive.
