July 11, 200322 yr I figured I was setting myself up for that reply being picked apart. Just another comparison to the PIC product again. Boy, I would have never guessed that was coming.I will say that one item that cannot be picked apart is the service these guys are providing. And, no, the PIC FMS does not function 100% like the Universal FMS system does. The PIC product was just clever enough to leave out what they didn't want to provide functionality for. I have spent countless hours in front of that FMS simulator during AQC and, well, nothing more to be said as I will open a can of worms that really does not need to be in this forum.Happy Flying Walter and thanks for the info. I have not heard of Aerowinx so I will look into it.Regards,J....Good Day.http://www.clearedasfiled.com/images/simpics/cirrus.jpgwww.flightfactory-simulations.comHomepage at www.clearedasfiled.com!

July 11, 200322 yr Yeah, lol, the UnFMS has no flying associated. You program it, then it flys what you programmed...virtually I guess is the best way to put it(sort of). ;-)...Good Day.http://www.clearedasfiled.com/images/simpics/cirrus.jpgwww.flightfactory-simulations.comHomepage at www.clearedasfiled.com!
July 11, 200322 yr Author Thank you for looking at the issue.:) I also own the Boeing FMC manual and find the PMDG simulation to be very complete for the areas they tackled. There are a few "undocumented features" and I'm sure will be fixed. Plus there is an awful lot of stuff that is RIGHT on this plane. PIC had a number of issues when it was released. Since your not getting the bobbing, are your N1 and fuel flow's fairly consistent at cruise? My throttles are constantly hunting at cruise with a resultant cyling of N1 and FF's.Bob.. :) Bob Prince
July 11, 200322 yr Hmmmmm. Odd. I can run this jet without issue. I have two recorded flight videos that will work in FS that I had reserved for PMDG if they needed them. They are two obscure Cat. III shot approaches to test the limits of the autopilot. I am debating on whether or not they would help some to see the aircraft stable when correctly setup.I don
July 12, 200322 yr Author I may have found the primary reason for the instability. I have a Sidewinder Joy stick that I did not realize was plugged into a USB port on the back of my 'puter. It apparently was being polled by FS2002 and creating a conflict with my PFC quadrant. I'll keep testing to ensure it (the oscillations) stay away.BTW, the co-pilot was supposed to check all connections and failed to do so. It's great to be "Captain".... as he (co-pilot) is now issuing boarding passes and I sent HIM to talk to Bill Stevens. :)Bob... Bob Prince
July 12, 200322 yr My fuel draw is different. Even with the mod to the file (setting it to 3). The right tank pulls a lot more fuel; even routing via cross feed and pumps. Center bags have the lowest draw.Oh, and if you have too much trouble with the PFC Quadrant, just send it to me, I
July 12, 200322 yr Author The bobbing I experience during climb/decent is much reduced, however, I'm still getting swings in A/T (N1,FF) at cruise. Tailwind, headwind, crosswinds make no difference and the N1 swings are not consistent. My current "work around" is to quit looking at N1. :)My fuel draw is as goofy as yours. :) I just add fuel to the right tank to balance it out for now. One interesting note on my plane is that once the APU is started, the onboard fuel in the left tank cannot be changed. I imagine this has been addressed by the PMDG. The plane is very good. There are a number of small bugs and one or two biggies, but overall this is an excellent start. Give them a few months to work out the bugs, and we'll have a new PIC and PS1! :)Bob... Bob Prince
July 12, 200322 yr >>1. SIDS, STARS and Approaches are NOT available now. Correct?2. Has anyone successfully installed new textures? Where is the txt file that contains the stuff to be pasted into the config file?<<1. Some are available over at www.navdata.at2. the txt file is in the same folder as the aircraft.cfg file (be it -600 or -700)//Mike
July 14, 200322 yr Commercial Member Bob, I refrained from posting more comments on bobbing :-)Your discovery is very important though. I had a similar complaint about roll (instead of pitch) oscilaltions. I hope you do understand guys that none of this has been observed under usual and unusual situations during many hours of testing. Yet some issues appear for individual cases. July 16, 200322 yr Take him up on it Bob, they'll help!Like I said, no bobbing for me but I hope they can help you work out why your aircraft is doing it.Thanks....Good Day.http://www.clearedasfiled.com/images/simpics/cirrus.jpgwww.flightfactory-simulations.comHomepage at www.clearedasfiled.com!
July 17, 200322 yr Author Hi,I will send along a detailed "trouble report", but after the patch. Sometimes unrelated problems (from a systems standpoint) get resolved with a patch. They have plenty to do and I'll wait. BobP :) Bob Prince
July 17, 200322 yr Commercial Member Bob,I have payed a lot of attention in the upcoming patch to issues of primary interest to simmers i.e. stability under accelerated times (2x, 4x, 8x (!!)), the completely and utterly wrong implementation of turbulence is MSFS and stuff like this. Regular "flying" modes also became sim-wise better (note the past tense :-)). Nevertheless, some person will inevitably run into a problem because of the complete lack of standardisation of software and hardware background. Personal support, quaranteed on our behalf, is the only way then.We all do appreciate very much the fact that instead of moaning and groaning to the point of boredom you said your piece and have faith that we listen and we will provide support for as long as you use this product. This is the reason that the whole PMDG team is addressing every reported issue and those that don't have anything to address, seek for perfection.Regards,Vangelis====================================== E. July 17, 200322 yr Hello, yes I too have noticed the nose bobbing up and down but had'nt thought about posting it,in my instance i think it occurs when i make speed changes on the MCP. Every/any change made when a different speed is set causes the nose to pitch up or down,i thinkit is when a slower speed is set is when the effect is more pronounced ( a very noticable pitch-up)....though i will make a more thorough check now to see if the effect is greater when reducing speed or increasing and in what conditions,is this normal ?regards and thanks for an excellent product Deepan Mehta(eagerly awaiting the patch and the 8/900's)
July 18, 200322 yr Author Hello Deepan,The bobbing is not as noticeable since I disconnected a second joystick. I'm satisfied with the "bobbing" associated with the planes tranisition between climb and level flight and speed changes. The plane can descend/climb and decrease/increase speed, usually not at the same time. So, when a speed increase is commanded during a climb, the nose will come down to allow the speed increase. Once achieved, the plane's nose goes back up and continues the climb. That is ok for my plane. :)My main issue is a cycling of the fuel flows and and N1 when at cruise. My N1 values vary from 81 to 86 percent at a fairly fast rate. My throttles are hunting (AT) and it could be noise from my PFC throttles as the N1s are constant during climb and descent. I'm also using Win2000 pro which may have its own set of problems. :) BobP :) Bob Prince
