July 10, 200322 yr My passengers and I are getting nauseas as my 737 bobs up and down during climb and descent. Is this related to the fuel imbalance bug? Have I screwed up the loading and my CG is in another zip code? The inability of the plane to find a climb/descent rate and hold it is eerily reminiscent of the Fly 777. We (me and my paying passengers) look forward to a little stability!:)BobP :)Win2K ProGW2K 2.0 gigtons of disk space256 meg mem Bob Prince
July 10, 200322 yr I see this too the plane is consistantly bobbing up and down. The autopilot is really sensitive and makes the plane jerky. Will this be fixed in new [email protected]
July 10, 200322 yr Commercial Member Dear Adam and Bob,Under what conditions does this occur ?What vertical mode ? VS ? LVLCHG ? VNAV ?What are the actions taken (change of model) or none at all ?What speed ? What weight ?Any add ons running concurrently ?Running at 4x sim speed acceleration or normal ?Do you mind sending over your aircraft.cfg file at [email protected] ?Please provide details and help me to help you. Thanks,Vangelis=========================================== E. July 10, 200322 yr >Dear Adam and Bob,>>Under what conditions does this occur ?I noticed this, too, a few times. Usually windy conditions.Obviously the A/P tries to keep the speed constant and varies thepitch wildly.>What vertical mode ? VS ? LVLCHG ? July 10, 200322 yr It's the wind changes, if you use VNAV or LVL CHG the plane pitches for speed, so I guess it's normal that it tends to have this behaviour if the wind changes consistently. I think even in reality it's like this. In those cases I revert to V/S and wait until the wind stabilizes then revert back to previous mode.Regards,Bjorn
July 10, 200322 yr Commercial Member Walter,Windy is OK. Question is turbulence ? Gusts ?Problem is that turbulene simulation in FS is pathetic. Light turbulence in FS is moderate to severe in resl life. Pilots dont even think of entering such areas if they can.Regards,Vangelis============================================ E. M. July 10, 200322 yr Hi,Did you set the correct ZFWThis happened to me as well. In my case it turned out that I had set the ZFW way to low.-I think when the autopilot corrects the speed and course deviations it uses the ZFW in order to give the right amount of input to the controls-A low ZFW will make the autopilot inputs to be Cheers -Lars
July 10, 200322 yr Well, to answer your questions in more detail I would have to wait until I run into such conditions again ;-)I did, however, notice a few other (minor/major) problems. However I guess most (if not all) of them have already been mentioned somewhere else (I confess I have not studied the complete, long bug-list-thread):VNAV disconnected several times, rudder does not move visually and when I made a crosswind-landing today the aircraft reacted as if there was no rudder-effect at all inherent in the flight-model, too(in other words, the wind blew me all over the place when I attempted to land and I had to go around...)A very minor item: where can I edit the panel.cfg, so that the FMC pops up in a different place? I use the FSUIPC-item which prevents panel resizing and moving, but when I switch it off to move the FMC-window, it will pop up in the same place next time I use the plane. This is very inconvenient, as it hides Mzalfotri, and without Mzalfotri (;-)) I have to close the FMC-Window using the menue of the mouse(right-click)...Also, I could start the engines without switching off the packs - is this right for the 737-600 (would be wrong for the 737-400 as far as I know!)Walter
July 10, 200322 yr Author Hi and thank you for quickly responding. With a commanded climb or descent, the aircraft constantly changes pitch. The magnitude of the oscillation is dependent upon the gross weight. The closer the plane is to max gross weight, the greater the oscillations. With a 100,000lb ZFW and center tanks empty and 50% in the left and right tanks, the oscillations are more subtle. I don't think I'm being picky, but the plane is good enough to nitpick. :)Bob...>Dear Adam and Bob,>>Under what conditions does this occur ?Flight level changed commanded and climb and descent in VNAV>What vertical mode ? July 10, 200322 yr Yes I was on LNAV and VNAV from Denver to Orange County CA. I was at FL390 at .77 mach. The plane just slightly oscillated during the climb to the altitude, winds were calm, and it just seemed as if the a/c was not stable enough in pitch or the autopilot was a little too sensitive. I will need to try another flight today to see if it happens [email protected]
July 11, 200322 yr Author My airfile is unstable (I think) and I'm not sure if it is being induced by my throttle quadrant or fuel pumps or improper preflight or winds aloft or what. At cruise (25,000ft) N1 on both engines cyles from 80.2 to 84.7 accompanied by oscillations in FF. The frequency is quite high and certainly would contribute to the model "hunting" and "dampning" during climb and descent. I'll keep tinkering.BTW:Dumb question volume 1-----------------------1. SIDS, STARS and Approaches are NOT available now. Correct?2. Has anyone successfully installed new textures? Where is the txt file that contains the stuff to be pasted into the config file? Thanks in advance.. Bob :)Edit: Win2k Pro Bob Prince
