It's because you're not giving the FMC a valid intercept heading - I don't know the procedures you're trying to program, but my guess is that keeping the runway heading doesn't put you on a correct intercept course for the radials... You could try just "KEEP HDG VECTORS NAVAID XXX and then when ATC clears you to intercept the radial just do it with an FMC direct-to with an INTC CRS.Ryan
