July 13, 200322 yr Moderator I'm having a lot of difficulty in controlling the PMDG737 when taxiing. I can control the 767PIC perfectly and having a CH Pro Throttle allows very fine control of the throttles but despite this the speed either goes up to 19kts+ or back to zero with very little change in throttle movement. Is it possible this could be fixed please? I'm sure I'm not alone in experiencing this problem.Something to consider... the 767PIC has an indicator against the N1 gauge that shows the current amount of power being applied which is very useful especially during taxi. Could this be included in the PMDG737?Thanks, Ray (Cheshire, England). July 14, 200322 yr Ray,Using a Sidewinder FFB Pro here. I find that there is a very small window of a sweet-spot here where you can regulate speeds in the teens. Generally (depending on weight) this is a narrow band of N1 38.5 to N1 42.0.Jeff
July 14, 200322 yr I havent got the PMDG YET....but I know that the FFX 737-400 and 300 were like that. I use a Microsoft Force Feedback 2 joystick and u just tap the throttle and the plane will quickly move off. Also found that with a full fuel load the plane managed to climb out of the airfield at 4000fpm until about FL280. I dunno if thats correct or not but......I have read somewhere that once these planes start moving, you can bring the throttle back to idle and the plane ususally is able to make it to the runway with out a problem. I dunno if this is correct either, lol.Cheers,Ryan
July 14, 200322 yr I think the PMDG 737 is unrealistic when taxiing. You shouldn't need any thrust to taxi, except the inital move, IMHO.Cheers Jamie Blethyn, UK
July 14, 200322 yr Commercial Member Gents,As it stands the plane will taxi at 39%. Ofcourse it is unrealistic. MSFS taxiways appear to be covered with jam. Since this appears to be of major importance to most users, FDE have already been modified and allow taxi initiation at max 40% N1 and taxi at 24% as per real. Naturally, taxi fuel flow goes nuts (no other way in MSFS). This is the reason that in version 1.0, i.e. what you have now, I decided not to "cook" idle thrust. Idle descent characteristics will not be affected though and remain "by the book".Cheers,Vangelis====================================== E. M. July 14, 200322 yr Author Moderator Hi Vangelis,Many of us do take flying seriously and total control over the taxi speed is important. Many thanks for making the change. Look forward to it :-)Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). July 14, 200322 yr Vangelis,>> MSFS taxiways appear to be covered with jam. I take it MS has not changed this for FS 2004 ? :(Mike
July 16, 200322 yr Commercial Member Nope x(Thought MS would, so why mess up idle fuel flow and taxi fuel statistics since FS2K4 is coming. Alas !Cheers,Vangelis========================================= E. M. July 16, 200322 yr in my opinion it shouldn't be tinkered withthe fault is not with the FDE but with the way MSFS handles aircraft on the ground. If MSFS had it modeled accurately most aircraft made would taxi at idle like they're meant to.A lot of developers have made tweeks to the FDE to allow that but it has, in my opinion, undesirable side affects so you have to find a balance and I think the PMDG FDE is fine and the taxi speed shouldn't be changed.I too wonder if MS fixed it for fs2004 no one that I know has really commented on that.Anyways, again, they did it right and others have done it right it's just MS that screwed it up.Jason
July 16, 200322 yr Vangelis,While on the subject of fuel flow. I hope that the team has taken into account the improper tank feeds. The 737 when it has fuel in the center wing tank should burn all fuel to zero and then switch to the wing tanks. The center wing tank should contain no fuel until the both wing tanks are maxed at 100 percent. Has the team made these changes in the patch? Thanks for a great job on the 737NG so far.Bob JohnsonKDEN
