ILS offset (but there is more to it...)

Featured Replies

First of all congratulations on a great product.I have been following your development since the early years of Fly series products and always associated your 'brand' with sophisticated/comprehensive systems and excellent customer service.I have purchased your 737 product and enjoy it quite a lot. There are several issues though, that bother me much and I shall mention those that I could not find mentioned elsewhere in this forum.First of all, on all flights ending with instrument approach I see significant VOR/ILS offset. I have precautionally checked for proper IRU position entry prior to departure (should not matter anyway as it affect the lateral navigation only), as well as reinstalled the latest AIRAC database. Unfortunately, offset is still there. It gives false indications of being displaced (the transmitter itself) by half a mile or a mile. Secondly, the fact which disturbs me equally much is the lean waypoint database of the FMS. It seems very weird to me as the system uses the same database as PIC767. PIC767 takes basically all waypoints of my sensible choice, whereas PMDG FMS takes only a handful of them. It is irritating a bit as I plug real life flight plan waypoints and airways segments there and the FMC just does not take many of them.On top of that the logic of presenting the choice of multiple navaids seems odd to me. To my knowledge it should list the navaid which is nearest the current flight plan segment first. My observations of PMDG FMC show this to be pretty random.I am looking forward to hearing your feedback on those issues.I have not read through 2000 pages of 737NG operations manual, so if those characteristics are the reflection of a real life craft please pardon my ignorance.ThanksDom

Do you have AIRAC 0304 from www.navdata.at? I couldn't get the NG's FMC to do anything right with the older tried and true 767PIC AIRAC data I had been using previously.Lee Hetherington (KBED)
