August 4, 200322 yr I have used the removal tool, reinstalled to FS2002, re-registered, ran SU1 patch for FS2002 (correcting the install path to remove the appended Flight Simulator 9 folder) and received the following error message "The file C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS2002PMDG737gauges.ini is not a valid previous version and could not be upgraded". After pressing the OK button the upgrade terminates. Why would I get this from a clean install and how can it be corrected?
August 4, 200322 yr Brian,I think you have an old version up SU1. That was an issue with the first installer, but on the second and third renditions this was fixed :)
August 4, 200322 yr Fred,I get this error message running the latest version of SU1 (dated 03/08/2003). I just downloaded it this morning.
August 4, 200322 yr Hi Brian,There have been a couple of other threads discussing this as well. In summary seems like the best direction is to follow the instructions; de-install, re-install a fresh version and then install the latest patch.Hope this helps,George George Morris
August 4, 200322 yr Hi George,Thanks for your suggestion. I did use the Removal Tool, did a fresh clean install, re-registered and then tried to apply the latest SU1 which resulted in getting the Install Error. Maybe someone can supply a 737gauges.ini file that the patch will update?
August 4, 200322 yr Brian, are you running Windows Me perhaps?[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. August 5, 200322 yr Commercial Member Use remove tool, install original release, then install SU1 without starting MSFS. Let us know how it works out.VinPMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.vinscimone.com/dancnkid.gif Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
August 5, 200322 yr Thanks Vin,Your suggestion solved the problem. I have now installed to both FS2002 and FS2004. I have also successfully applied the latest SU1 patch. However, the registration folder is still installed only in FS2002's Modules folder. This should really be moved to a central location. I plan to remove FS2002 once I have migrated all my commercial addons to FS2004 and when I do this it will also delete the registration folder.BTW the base installer also creates an invalid link to the PMDG 737NG Software Documentation and this is not corrected by the SU1 patch.
