Left Engine Not Working!!

Featured Replies

Tried to do a start up from cold. Loaded cessna first then turned off the magnetos and red master switch. Loaded up the 737-700 and followed the procedure for startup. First right engine, then left by turning the ignition switch to GND then moving fuel cutoff switch to up. Left engine tries to startup but then cuts out and keeps repeating itself to startup. Could the Cessna be having a strange effect or am i missing something? Would really like to start this bird up from cold.Thanks.Kev Farrow

Kev,If you have the latest patch, this should clear your problem;-) If you don't want to load up the latest patch, press control-shift-f4 after you have turned on the left engine fuel cutoff switch to start the left engine.

Hi,I'm having the same problem as Kevin with SU1 installed using FS9. I tried for hours to figure out what was wrong.Sincerely,Jimmy Richards

Hi!Before SU1, I have same problem, but after installed the patch I can start up the engine from cold.If you still have problem, I remember someone made a suggestion that after N2 reach 20% (whichever Right/Left engine) just press ctrl+shift+F4 to make engine running.

Hello Dennise,Yes, Fred Clausen makes that very same suggestion right here in this very thread. But he suggested it for Kevin as a workaround, if Kevin didn't want to install(load up) the SU1 patch. Well, I have the SU1 patch installed in FS9, as I already stated :-roll, and I still had to use the CTRL-Shift-F4 workaround.Jimmy Richards

Jimmy,Interesting. This problem was happening with the first rendition of the SU1 update, but if you have downloaded and isntalled the very latest SU1, then this problem should go away. :)

Hi Fred,Are you talking about the one where they asked you too replace a file or two if you installed it? I didn't get that one. So unless there's been yet another release of SU1(a third SU1), I've got the latest. Thanks,Jim Richards

If you have the lastest(and by lastest I mean the current SU1 installer on the website) then I have no idea what is going on :-boomI hate to suggest this to you(please don't hurt me! ;-)) But I suggest backing up your liveries you have installed, and your SID/STARs(please ;-)), and then running the PMDG remover tool. Reinstall the base package, and then download the patch on the website, and install that and see if you still have the same problem with the engine...

Noooo! I just reinstalled recently when I did a BIOS upgrade and forgot to unregister the PMDG 737NG before the BIOS upgrade!!! And then went through and installed a bunch of liveries. Arrrghh! Lol. Maybe I'll download the SU1 installer and see if there is any filesize difference with the SU1 installer I already have. If so, I still don't know that I want to go through with uninstalling and reinstalling it again, as long as the engine startup is really the only problem(major at least) I might run across, I can use the workaround for now. I'm think I might just very well wait for SU2. SU2 would upgrade my current installation without me having to uninstall and then reinstall, right? I'd ask when that perhaps, might, maybe, come out, but I already saw in the other large thread... don't ask. :-lolJimmy RichardsP.S. It's ok that you asked/suggested it. Hehe, who knows, I might do it if there is a difference from the installer I already have. But I doubt it.

Well, Hi Again Fred.I don't even have to download the SU1 update to see the one on the website is newer than the one I have. I see it by the date listed on the website. I'll probably be going for a reinstall then, as it will probably be a little while before SU2 comes out. But I think I'll be waiting a week after SU2 is out to download it though! :-laugh1Jim Richards

Hi,I've decided to go ahead and uninstall and then reinstall the plane using the latest SU1. Just thought I'd let you know. ;) At least it's not like having to install Linux. Now that's an installation and configuration of a large magnitude, depending on just how many packages you want to install and how much tweaking you want to do. But with Linux, I've NEVER had to reinstall unless it's been due to a hardware problem, which happened once, unlike this here proprietary OS I'm using right now... hehe.Take Care,Jim RichardsOne Tin Soldier

I am a brand new gentoo user, after coming from Mandrake(many many years of mandrake....) so I really feel like a babe in the woods. But I am slowly weeding them out. :D

Chaps, i think i Know what's wrong.I reinstalled the latest sp1 over the original sp1 and noticed that a message came up as it was instaling saying unable to update a certain file. (can't remember what. i think it was a gauge file or something) After i clicked ok the installer aborted without fully updating. After deleting then reinstaling the base package then the latest sp1 everything works fine.Looks like you might have to start from scratch.Kev Farrow

Hi Kev,Yep, I'm planning on running the uninstaller and installing the current SU1 from the website... from scratch. Going to move/save all my liveries first though so I don't have to reinstall them from scratch. Beam me up, there's no intelligent life down here!:-spacecraftJim R! :)
