PMDG737 and WidevieW

Recommended Posts

Hi all,I just purchased the 737 and wow, I am impressed. I also discovered recently WidevieW in FS2002, and I am planning to try it in FS2004.I was surprised to find out after the installation of the 737 and service pack 1 that I don't need to generate a key to register my purchase. I am still afraid of what will happen in 10 days...What if I install it on a second + third computer to have a 6 monitor setup ? Will I get the option to activate it ? Do I need to buy 3 copies ?Since it is not cheap, I prefer to ask first... any experience ?Lorenzo

Question 1] no worries, they have changed that, you will not have to worry about it any longer. Question 2] Short answer, yes you would have to purchase it for all three. [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. WideView has not been released for FS2004 yet...and the old one will not work.If all you're doing is generating external views on the other PCs, you won't need to install the entire PMDG plane. You can transplant the aircraft model and whatever bitmaps are needed for the views without need to run another copy of the panel and license it. On a wideview client, the *last* thing you want to do is run another copy of a complex panel, anyway.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, D.C.

How cool, I haven't thought of that, and I hadn't checked the WidevieW compatibility yet either. My previous experience with Wideview was a one-night stand with a mixed setup: computer, a laptop and a friend's machine a few months ago, and I was quite impressed. Since then, I haven't tried. On a more technical note: what do you mean by "transplant" the visual model and bitmaps ? Copy the entire aircraft folder to the client machines, and remove the panel folder from it on the client machines ? Will I be able to select that aircraft on control it from the wideview server ? I must definitely try that in FS2002...(...but wait, can I have the PMDG737 installed twice on the same machine, in fs2002 and in fs2004 ? No problem with registration ?)Lorenzo

Lorenzo;Yes...you copy it over and replace the panel folder with something generic, like the default 734. You definitely want to have the same airfile and config file in use.Yes, you can install the bird into each version of FS on the same machine...they look to the same place for the registration key. Where you'll run into trouble is if you try to install the panel on a second machine.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, D.C.
