blank FMC approach page?

Featured Replies

Suddenly my approach selection page in the FMC is blank. I'm trying to setup a route from KLAX to KSJC. After putting in all the waypoints, the last one I select the button for approaches on the FMC, but the screen is blank. I downloaded the sidstars database into fs9pmdgsidstars and the nav data into flight simulator9fmcwpnavdataThe approach pages works correctly when I go from KSJC to KLAX, just not when trying to find the KSJC approaches... And one more problem, right when I enter the to and from route it gives me an error message, that it can't find a certain runway. I never entered a runway yet, all I did was enter KLAX in the from and the KSJC in the to settings for the route! Whats going on?Thank you,Alex Epstein

There is a problem with the KSJC sidstar file. I do not know how to fix these but there are others here that can fix it. By the way, that's my home airfield ;)[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. my home airfield too! Oh well, at least it's a problem instead of my computer just acting funny around me again... Who can I ask to see if they can fix it?

Hi Randy,Thought I would have a look at KSJC, nothing better to do :-), and got an error rwy29 unknown.Prompted by Timothy's reply to my question I had a look at the Navdata (0309 cycle) in FMCWP and found that the airport file does not list either rwy11 or rwy29.I am now about to put in the SIDs and STARs one by one and see what happens.Wish me luck :-lolEDIT: Alex, if you are using the latest AIRAC cycle (0903) that *may* be why you have the blank page, but my investigations continue.Dave

Interesting, we really don't need runway 29/11 here (never used for 737s). Maybe just remove them from the sid-star?[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Success Alex :-jumpy If you use the 0308 AIRAC cycle data the route should work (it does here :-) )From the Vatsim USA site the preferred route is KLAX GMN4.AVE.ROBIE2 KSJCSo in the FMC route page enter KLAX as ORIGIN and KSJC as DEST then immediately go to the DEP/ARR page, select your runway (I chose 06L) and select the GMN2.AVE.06L SID.Go to the arrival page and again choose your runway (I chose 30L) and select the AVE.ROBIE2 STAR on page 4.Job done.EDIT: just realized why RWY11 & 29 are not in the latest data from Ricahrd. Richard filters the airport data for the 767PIC by leaving out runways too short for the 767 to operate on. Rwy11/29 at KSJC is only 4,600ft according to FSNav, too short I would guess for a 767.HTHDave

>> Interesting,>> we really don't need runway 29/11 here (never used for 737s).>Maybe just remove them from the sid-star?>>When I saw the runway layout in FSNav my first thoughts were that rwy 11/29 would not be used for normal procedures but in fact the charts do list them. However I see no problem in removing reference to those 2 runways in the PMDG SIDSTAR file and then using AIRAC cycle 0309, just make sure you remove *all* references to them ;-). They lurk in both SIDs and STARs of course.Rgds

Can you tell me where I can get the 0308 airac cycle from? All I can find is the 0309. Thanks!

>Can you tell me where I can get the 0308 airac cycle from?>All I can find is the 0309. Thanks!in a word, NO Alex :-)However 0309 should be fixed now, go along to ricahrd's site and down load the revision2 files from the link.HTHDave

I have the version2 and it still doesn't work. Infact, John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana has the same problem.

I have also been experiencing this same problem, I have tried several airports ( KIAH, KPBI, KBOS and I'm sure there are many more ). When selecting one of these airports I also get the rwy error. In fact after getting this message and going to DEP/ARV page it's almost as if the airport doesn't exist in the NavData. No SID/STARS or runways. I have a funny feeling something may have gone wrong with the current version of navdata. Unfortunatly as it stand all my flights are on hold untill the problem is rectified. :-eekNick :-abduct

I don't understand why there are problems, and I'm sorry I don't have time to check out these problem airports. However I have found out the following.KIAH is in the FMCWP data with the following runways33L & R, 09, 27, 15R & L, 08R & L, 26L & RHowever FSNav shows the runways as 3L & R, 15L & R, 27, 09, 26, 08, no 08L & R or 26L & R.The PMDG SIDSTAR file lists the following runways33L & R, 09, 27, 15L & R, 26, 08 which is in line with the FSNav display. Maybe 08 & 26 need redefining in the PMDG file, probably to 08L and 26RKPBI has the following rwys in the FMCWP data file31, 27R, 09L, 13Those rwys are defined in the PMDG file aas well as 27L & 09R so I would expect 27L & 09R to have an error or not be shown.KBOS. This may have a problem. KBOS in in the FMCWP file but its name is General Edwards Lawrence, not Boston Intl. If someone with knowledge of KBOS can confirm it 'real' name is General Edwards Lawrence then all should be well.KBOS has the following rwys in the FMCWP file04L & R, 33L, 09, 27, 15R, 22L & R.The PMDG file defines those as well as 33R, & 15L so there may be problems with those 2 rwys. All the above is from the recent 0309 Rev 2 data.HTHDave
