September 6, 200322 yr Well, now joining the FS9 pooched line it seems, nothing to do with PMDG, but it ate my scenery files and suddenly wants to complain non-stop ... I have absolutely no idea what happened, scenery cache is empty, nothing changed anywhere, no reason at all for this one. Used MS's restore defaults, accomplished nothing except to restore the defaults ;) so the problem is obviously not in any area that is controlled by any of the configuration files...Grrr, if it didn't look so good, I'd be using them CD's a frizbees right now :-bang Well, now we get to test a COMPLETE PMDG reload from scratch on a new FS9 :-lolRay(edit)The MS uninstaller does a wonderful job of leaving all sorts of crap leftover so make sure you go in and actually uninstall the stuff AFTER the uninstaller finishes. Typical.
September 6, 200322 yr The Moral of this story ... BACKUP the FSwhateverMODULES####-####-####-####-#### directory as it contains your licence key coupled with some registry stuff that matches your machine information. Loose this and you will most certainly be explaining why to PMDG in your email asking for help on how to get things working again. If you are going to install to a different location then the above path, you will not have a working system when you are finished but there is a nice simple fix to correcting to the new install path as long as you saved the above directory. I'm not going to post it as I don't know if PMDG wants it public.Fail in the above, you'll be in gauge'screaming hell of which there is no escape as the actual error messages are popping BEHIND the FS9 Panel so you can not see them to clear them. This is most certainly a FS9 bug, nothing to do with PMDG as the problem does not happen at all in Windowed mode ;)Just thought I'd pass these warnings on ... on my fun morning with FS9 ;)Ray
September 6, 200322 yr Ray, I just formated the other night whiping out everything and re-installed without inputting a key! There is no need to do so with the newest patches...[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. September 6, 200322 yr Commercial Member Ray,Use the license mover utility and you can put that file somewhere safe (like outside of FS) However, If you have the most recent patch you won't have to deal with this little bugger anymore as it has been changed. Drop me a note if you want the license mover utility.RegardsPaul Gollnick :-coolTechnical Operations/Customer Operational SupportPrecision Manuals Development Groupwww.precisionmanuals.com Paul Gollnick Manager Customer/Technical Support Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
