SU2 and backlightning of the panel??

Featured Replies

Hi PMDG,I just read in one thread that the SU2 is coming. Now that yo want to release the 600/700 versions on CD I am thinking of purchasing them. But what I still didn

Nope it will not be changed in SU2, you don't have to use the backlighting, the PFD and ND lightup without it. By the way, what makes you think that this is not the case sometimes in the real world? Take a look at these real NGs on final. Looks just like PMDG's NG if you ask me ;)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/35416.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/35417.jpg[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Great pics, Randy. It's amazing what you can pick up from shots like this....E.g...#In the first shot, the aircraft is at 920' RA, but still has LNAV/VNAV providing FD guidance (sort of... the crew seem to be ignoring it). #The ND is displaying an EGPWS Peaks Mode readout#the upper manoeuvre margin appears to be a lot shorter than what we've seen in PMDG (I sort of suspected they were a little longer than they should be) ;-).Cheers.Ian.P.S. By the way, does PMDG NG display a pitch limit indicator on the PFD?... I can't recall seeing it before. I'd confirm this myself, but it's 3.30 am in the morning... and I've run out of steam ;-)

HiRandy has demonstrated the cockpit lighting well but I wonder about this."People always forget that the original PIC panel was done by Eric Ernst in 1998/99 for FS98. So just consider how much time has been spent to the 767 PIC until it

Bill, not everyone has a CD burner or high speed internet access. Holding off on purchase until a CD version is available might just be the only option for some folks. ;)I know I would never have bought PIC if it was download only because I didn't have a way of saving it back then.Ray

Well RayThat never stopped him from recomending the NG to others from the time it was released. It was quite amazing really to see.But to be quite honest I`ll be thinking about the same stratagy as Mat as I am not all that thrilled to be a paying tester either.Maybe a CD is the best way to go but at least I won`t agitate at the same time.Bil

@ Bill :Well I don

Hi"And yes Bill, from what I have seen so far I would recommed this Add On to anybody that asks"I`m just kind of wondering what qualifies you to do so?Buy it now and then for sure you might have some reason to opine from a base of known data but until then you just look foolish. No offense but that`s the way I see it.Bill

Randy,Back to the lighting. Those are nice pictures, but you have no way of knowing what the REAL color balance was. Color film balanced for daylight will give warmer results for incandescent artificial night lighting. We can say that PMDG has captured the look "in the photos" very well. Only the pilots know what the "eyes" really see on the darkened flight deck. :)Best,Bill

I agree with that Bill. I think everyone would like to see a more varied panel lighting scheme. There are still 2 more phases for this aircraft to come so will have to see what plans if any PMDG has for this. I am happy with the backpanel lighting but would love to have all the instruments illuminate without the backlighting.[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. When you`re in the cocpit, choose from the menu PMDG/Styles. You can make several nice changes there. How to use it compared to cross-bars...oops I have to gain some experience first I guess....:)

Hey Guys,I was just surfing through some threads here on Avsim when I found this one...I also own the PMDG 737 since it was released and after all it is a really lovely bird to fly!Altough she is pretty much eating up my framerate ( :-roll ) I use her for my flights every day and actually there is just one thing that bothers me a little. It's the often discussed panel lightning at night. I already read that PMDG has only changed the lightning to the way it is now because some users complained about the backlightning (which I can't really understand) before the 737 was even released. Now, is there any way we might get the backlightning as it is here (http://www.airliners.net/open.file/297565/L/) in another SU in the future? Well, I'll keep hoping :-smoochAnyway, I do have another question: I read here somewhere that the new NG's rollout from Boeing with blue digits on the mcp. Is that true, and if so, does anyone have a photo? I'd be really interested...Cheers,Florian :-beerchug

Florian, that is what I was talking about, having all the gauges lit up without the panel itself. I have darkened the main panel lighting for myself (MUCH WORK) and added a new MCPhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/36246.jpgThe Newer NG MCP has more of white/blue digits on a blue background. I really like the lighted green writing on the buttons.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/36245.jpg[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Looking really good Randy. I believe you that it was much work and I'd never try something like that myself just because I have no talent whatsoever in working with bitmaps, I can't even repaint ACFT's :-shyAnyway, I like the green A/T ARM light you have there, did you do that yourself too?And how is the legal situation, are you allowed to change the panelbitmaps?cheers, Flo :-beerchugPS: The new NG Panel's looking awesome... Might just tune my MCP color as well :D
