September 7, 200322 yr hi all, when i try to land the 737 i intercept ok and then all of a sudden the N1 button lights up and then the plane increases throttle and overshoots the runway.Any thoughts I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
September 7, 200322 yr Try turning off the A/T switch and watch that speed...[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. September 7, 200322 yr Author if i turn the A/T off, then how can the autopilot manage the speed? I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
September 7, 200322 yr Well you did not SAY you were on autoland. This tells me you are too slow. Double check you VREF speed. [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. September 7, 200322 yr Did you make any cockpit view changes during the approach, Clayton... or hit the Pause button? I don't know if it is co-incidence, but the same thing happened to me when I did this.Cheers.Ian.
September 7, 200322 yr If this is not the case, then I'm almost sure it's the stall protection kicking in, as suggested above.Make sure you set your approach speed no slower than VREF (see and set APPROACH ref page before landing) + a few knots.anthonyAnthony MertonPrecision Manuals Developmenthttp://www.precisionmanuals.com
September 8, 200322 yr Author "Make sure you set your approach speed no slower than VREF (see and set APPROACH ref page before landing) + a few knots"Do you mean on the MCP i should NOT dial down the speed below VREF speed?or do you mean do not let the plane reduce speed below VREF speed.Yes i did press the P for pause and also external views. I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
September 8, 200322 yr Clayton, You control SPEED by what you are dialing in on the MCP. Selecting a VREF on the FMC will not automaticly fly the aircraft AT VREF. This is the speed you are AIMING for. On final G/S LOC capture, the MCP speed window will unblank which means you are now setting the speed. For FS you can let the A/P control this by setting the speed in the window. In the real world the pilots will most likely set thrust to about 60% on approach controlling pitch and speed on final... September 8, 200322 yr Author thanks i always use the MCP speed to dial down the speed of the aircraft letting AP do the work. Also why is it required to press the LSK on flap 40 and the relevant speed on the FMC before landing. I7-10700F RTX 3070 32 Gig Ram
September 8, 200322 yr Well because it will set the correct SPD BUGS on the PFD (Pilot's flight Display) for landing. You do not have to select the 40 Flaps VREF, you can choose 30 if you desire...Forget your speed question. Like I said in my other post, you are controlling speed even though the MCP is adhearing to you inputted MCP speeds. It will not go to VREF for you, you must set that on the MCP prior to landing. The FMC VREF is a guide for the correct landing speed for your given weight/wind speeds. [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
