Editing SID / STAR

Featured Replies

Hi,when editing SID/STARS txt files, how can I build an Arc DME with the syntax used to enter SID/STAR ?thanks for coopbrgds/Stefltt

thanks for the link, I know how to build an arc dme by using the keypad and the scratchpad of the fmc. But it is not my question.I want to predefine a STAR or a SID which contains an arc dme in the procedure for an airport.for example FMEE STAR SOBAT3E contains an arc dme 17 Nm from SDG for the ILS 14. When i'm about to start descent, i listen to the ATIS to know what the rwy in use is (14), and i choose rwy 14 in the FMC and I want to choose a SOBAT3E Arrival for ILS 14. And i don't want to enter manually the arc dme. I choose my STAR and the arc is already built by programming it using the specific language used to program SID/STAR like : STAR SOBAT3V NAVAID SOBAT NAVAID SDG NAVAID D330H 5500 NAVAID D330Q HDG 230 UNTIL RADIAL 319 FROM NAVAID SDG NAVAID RECIF 3000 RNW 14 RNW 12this is a STAR which does not contain an arc DME Procedure. Is there an easy step to do an arc dme instead of building it like :HDG 270 UNTIL RADIAL 360 FROM NAVAID SDG HDG 260 UNTIL RADIAL 350 FROM NAVAID SDG HDG 250 UNTIL RADIAL 340 FROM NAVAID SDG ETC ETC ETCSTEFLTT

My initial thoughts would be to define fixes round the arc similar to how you would manually enter them into the FMC.For example.FIX SDG01 COLOCATED SDG 300 17FIX SDG02 COLOCATED SDG 310 17FIX SDG03 COLOCATED SDG 320 17FIX SDG04 COLOCATED SDG 330 17FIX SDG05 COLOCATED SDG 340 17Etc.HTH Dave

Your idea is not too bad.... I will try out this maybe it will be more easier to programm the arc dme. thanks. will let you know.rgds/Stefltt

Works fine when creating some sixes along the arc dme... The airplane follows the arc dme during the SID or the STAR.But I still got a BIG bug when I try to program some STARS for FMEE like the UVENA3E arrival. Here are a few line i wrote :"FIXESFIX WPT01 COLOCATED SDG 360 30FIX WPT02 COLOCATED SDG 350 30FIX WPT03 COLOCATED SDG 340 30FIX WPT04 COLOCATED SDG 330 30FIX WPT05 COLOCATED SDG 320 30FIX WPT06 COLOCATED SDG 310 30FIX WPT07 COLOCATED SDG 300 30FIX WPT08 COLOCATED SDG 290 30FIX WPT09 COLOCATED SDG 280 30FIX WPT10 COLOCATED SDG 270 30FIX WPT11 COLOCATED SDG 260 30FIX WPT12 COLOCATED SDG 250 30FIX WPT20 COLOCATED SDG 090 17FIX WPT21 COLOCATED SDG 080 17FIX WPT22 COLOCATED SDG 070 17FIX WPT23 COLOCATED SDG 060 17FIX WPT24 COLOCATED SDG 050 17FIX WPT25 COLOCATED SDG 040 17FIX WPT26 COLOCATED SDG 030 17FIX WPT27 COLOCATED SDG 020 17FIX WPT28 COLOCATED SDG 010 17FIX WPT29 COLOCATED SDG 360 17FIX WPT30 COLOCATED SDG 350 17FIX WPT31 COLOCATED SDG 340 17FIX WPT32 COLOCATED SDG 330 17FIX WPT33 COLOCATED SDG 320 17FIX WPT34 COLOCATED SDG 310 17FIX WPT35 COLOCATED SDG 300 17FIX WPT36 COLOCATED SDG 290 17FIX WPT37 COLOCATED SDG 280 17FIX WPT38 COLOCATED SDG 270 17FIX WPT39 COLOCATED SDG 260 17FIX WPT50 COLOCATED SDG 340 22FIX WPT51 COLOCATED SDG 350 22FIX WPT52 COLOCATED SDG 360 22FIX WPT53 COLOCATED SDG 010 22FIX WPT54 COLOCATED SDG 020 22FIX WPT55 COLOCATED SDG 030 22FIX WPT56 COLOCATED SDG 040 22FIX WPT57 COLOCATED SDG 050 22FIX WPT58 COLOCATED SDG 060 22FIX WPT59 COLOCATED SDG 070 22FIX WPT60 COLOCATED SDG 080 22FIX WPT61 COLOCATED SDG 090 22FIX WPT62 COLOCATED SDG 100 22FIX WPT63 COLOCATED SDG 110 22ENDFIXESRNWSRNW 30RNW 12RNW 32RNW 14ENDRNWSSTARSSTAR UVENA3E NAVAID UVENA HDG 174 UNTIL 19 FROM NAVAID SDG FIX WPT30 FIX WPT31 FIX WPT32 FIX WPT33 HDG 220 INTERCEPT RADIAL 313 FROM NAVAID SDG NAVAID RECIF 3000 RNW 14 RNW 12ENDSTARS"When I try to use this star in the FMS, there's something weird !!!!I chose a flight from HKMO to FMEE for example, chose DEP/ARR, rwy 21 at HKMO and RWY14 at FMEE and the UVENA3E Arrival. When I check the routing in Legs page in the fms and on the ND in plan mode. When I hit "STEP" from UVENA to SDG-19, The FMS gave me a distance of 3991Nm or something near this value between UVENA and the point on the 174 Radial to SDG at 19 Nm to SDG.Can someone explain me this ? What is wrong in my program Lines ?thanks rgds/Stefltt>Your idea is not too bad.... I will try out this maybe it>will be more easier to programm the arc dme. thanks. will let>you know.>rgds/Stefltt

HI,I do have something important to do but I will try to look into this. To investigate properly I need to do three things, one to retrieve a chart two to look at the PIC star and see if I can convert it to PMDG format respecting all restrictions. If all this does not work then three: if I start to analyse your star I need the lat/long coordinates of the fixes to look for your bug.Hope to start investigating later today.Michael

I have found a lot of instances when writing sids/stars when the fmc throws up a distance of around 3000+, when intercepting radials. I usually just try to find a work around until the team come up with a fix for this bug.try thisFIX SDG19 COLOCATED SDG 351 19STARSSTAR UVENA3E NAVAID UVENA FIX SDG19 FIX WPT30 FIX WPT31 FIX WPT32 FIX WPT33 HDG 220 INTERCEPT RADIAL 313 FROM NAVAID SDG NAVAID RECIF 3000 RNW 14 RNW 12ENDSTARSSimon
