September 30, 200322 yr Initially I thought the T/D point was too close requiring, on average, high descent rates if using the Vnav path. It is not unlike the PMDG 737 to rush down if initiating a descent from TOD. If not, a more liesurely descent can be initiated.Well anyway, I am rushing down to pick up ils 22L on a flight from Pheonix to Detroit, can finally stabilize out, gear down, begin to put flaps out and pick up the loc and g/s for an autoland. The FMS predicted 10,000 on board at landing and I chose an appropriate VREF of 30 degrees flaps. While intercepting the ils with a pretty good crosswind I got established on the final approach and expected a nice smooth landing into the Detroit evening. Then, to my surprise although I somewhat expected this, my center tanks went dry. This was not very interesting until the number 2 engine went right along with the tanks. At that time I was already at flaps 15 and 140 kts and remained there for the approach to landing.I am sure glad the fameout was not both engines. Strangely I had full left and right tanks with the engine start switches in continuous. Albeit that the right engine still flamed out.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/40081.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/40082.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/40083.jpg
September 30, 200322 yr AirbusBuff they like you to sign your name on this forum:-)Anyway good job of getting down with one engine at that late stage.I have had the engines cut on me thankfully I have been above FL250. The only way I have ever been able to get them back is to hit ctrl+e. Talk about killing the moment. I have tried to switch the ignition switches on and start but it is not happening. Also it tries over and over before it finally kicks on. Hope they get that worked out and in the future have the ignition switches work while flt mode. Still I do love flying around in this airplane have gotten alot of good flights.Andrew Andrew

September 30, 200322 yr Hey Airbus,What are you using to post your pictures? I tried but mine won't display!SCott
September 30, 200322 yr I've had the engines cut out during cruise when the central tank went dry...but your issue sounds completely weird to me-good job getting her down in one piece! As for the ignition switches, when my engines flamed out I simply began a controlled descent to maintain sufficient airspeed. Then started engine #2 by using FLT ignition and had no problems whatsoever.Exact same for #1 too ;)JohnP 2.53 GHZ512 RAMWINXPGFORCE 4 128MB Ti4600http://homepage.eircom.net/~eamonnmca/images/logo_ba.JPGwww.bavirtual.co.uk Senior Captain Simflight.com Staff Reviewerhttp://vatsim.pilotmedia.fi/statusindicato...tor=OD1&a=a.jpg
September 30, 200322 yr Hi Guys,The only workaround that I have managed so far it to monitor your fuel carefully, and when you get down to 10kg turn off the centre pumps manually. Provided the warning lights (Fuel Pressure Centre tank) DON'T come on you don't get a flamout. Some people only lose eng 2, I always lose both!Hope it helps.
