October 1, 200322 yr Hi all,I think I found the reason why some of you have good frame rates and others don't. It's simply a metter of using the panel icons to switch views, instead of using the keyboard to go to zoom view. When you use the panel icon, the panel view is REPLACED by the newly selected view. If you press shift 3 to get the zoom wiew, the view is ADDED on top of the main view (for example). In the first case, FPS stays about the same, in the second case, FPS is divided by two (there are two panels to calculate, and I suspect there are two instances of the code running). Also, setting the gauge refresh rate to something around 10 (instead of 20) does make a big difference in FPS, but not a big change in the gauge visual.Eric.
October 2, 200322 yr hummm....so if I use joystick buttons via FSUIPC to call Shift+n commands for switching views am I in trouble....strange...Thanks,Ulisses
October 2, 200322 yr Say you are in the main view, and you program a joystick button to send 'shift-3'. When you push the button, the zoom view appears (it totally covers the main view, so you don't see it anymore). You can use the mouse to drag the zoom view and verify the main view is still there under. Observe you FPS divides approx. by two (goes from 15 to 7 in my setup). Now, if you press shift-1, you close the main view, and see the FPS go back to 15.You can program a button to switch views, but the keystrokes sent must be a sequence to open the desired view, and close the previous view. The questios is : how do you know what the previous view was? I don't know if there is a key in PMDG 737 to explicitly open or close a view (not a toggle).Eric.
October 2, 200322 yr FYI all,PMDG has stated many times that switching views using keyboard short cuts is not supported. You should only be using the buttons. Also, before this starts another LONG thread, PMDG is aware of the request for screen switching using shortcut keys.George George Morris
October 2, 200322 yr Thanks for the info,Should be good the shortcuts for switching views, so we can use a goflight module to switch views, for example.Ulisses
October 2, 200322 yr Commercial Member Yes George-before this gets too long,PMDG has already developed a keyboard handling mechanism and the panel switching is supported for SU2.(Yes, good news!) Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
