October 17, 200322 yr I have many 737's fly over me (Sometimes rather I wish they never but it creates a very good ambience for Fight Sim) and I never have yet seen the small whitish light on the front of the fuselage, just forward of the wing. What aircraft does it appear on? What function does it serve> It certainly is not a landing light neither navigation. Or is it a fault with the aircraft modeling - I doubt that with PMDG in all fairness. Can anyone fill me in?Kind regards to all as allwaysfrom Nigel Smith
October 17, 200322 yr That's the nacelle scan light. . .(assuming I understand what you are talking about). . .aka the "wing light" that lights up the leading edge of the wing and the engine. It's a good way to check that your wings are still there when its dark. :D -drew-
October 17, 200322 yr Sure no problem, it's called the wing light and is for leading edge inspection for things like ICE and or Damage...[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/196432/winglets_lg.jpg Randy J Smith
October 17, 200322 yr Hi Nigel, those lights do exist: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/406352/L/I believe the purpose is to illuminate the wing, so that anyone will realise that the fuselage and wingtip lights all form part of the same plane. If you've ever encountered a car with one defective headlight driving next to a motorcycle on unlit country road in the middle of the night, you'll know how useful additional illumination can be :).Cheers,Gosta.http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg
October 17, 200322 yr Commercial Member That light can be turned off independently of the landing lights. If you use the default assigned L key to turn on your lights, it will always come on, but if you use the overhead panel to turn on your lights, you can leave it off.VinPMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.vinscimone.com/dancnkid.gif Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
October 18, 200322 yr I guess if the wings were not there the light would be the least of the problems. But seriously, I guess it can be turned off. I HAVE seen one 737 fly over with it on though. Guess he was unsure about still having his wings attached.
