Navdata update AIRAC 0311 available

Featured Replies

Sorry Richard. Not trying to hide identity and not that I do not appreciate yoru work. I am just trying to track down a problem I have been having I noticed in the PSS 330. When I am in CYYC. and tell the mcdu to take off runway 34 the runway is not aligned to the runway heading. Its about 20 degrees right. Also if I program to fly an airway, say J537 to yeg, it tracks no problem. But when I click the Direct to button and click the last waypoint as being the waypoint I want to fly direct to, the aircraft should fly approx 330 degrees but the plane tracks about 360. The VOR needle indicates the proper track to the VOR but in the top right of the Navigation Display it says YEG 360 degrees and unfortunately that is what it will track.Jack Colwill

Hi Jack,I am sure Richard will correct me if I am wrong. Just let me tell you that assuming you have the latest database from NavData ie. cycle 0311 you should have a magnetic heading of 341 for CYYC which is the correct current magnetic heading. As you know magnetic headings are bound to change in time. Do not forget that the MSFS databases cannot be updated and therefore rely on datas which are much older than the ones provided to you by NavData. As to the VOR deviation I do not have a plausible explanation which would incriminate the database. Are you using any weather program which give you a course deviation? Also with some aircrafts you can re-align your position using the IRS align mode (before take-off) have you done this?.Michael

Hi Jack,no problem about your identity ... the contact is personal with a name and not so anonyoumus :-))Ok, first the answer with the mag-headings from Michael is absolutly correct. This is exact the problem, which i/we want to solve between the real- and FS database. Currently i

Ok thanks Richard. And I am sure I speak for the rest of the people when I appreciate your work. It is guys like you woho keep this hobby alive and well. And put a donations link on the homepage when you get it going. I am sure you over earned it with all your work.I just checked the gyro drfit. No check mark. Weird thing is that everything works fine on the pmdg 737 for fs9. Any chance there might be a boo boo in the data for PSS? Who knows it may be a blip in the PSS too. I WILL figure thsi out as I love flying the bus too!

I have found the problem with the IAH 08 rwy. First, my system. I am running FS9 with the PMDG 737NG add on. I have just updated the AIRAC wtih 0311, but the problem was the same with the old ones. There are now two 08/26's. L & R obviously. As someone stated earlier, the lines in the FMCWP folder are there and are correct. The problem lies within the SIDSTAR for KIAH. When I would program KIAH into the FMS, I would get the error "KIAH err: 08 rwy unkown" The sidstar does not list 08L, 08R, 26L, & 26R. It only list 08 and 26. I edited it to show all the runways and now they appear in the choices with no errors. Here is where I get lost. KIAH in FS9 only has 08/26. What do you do about that? And two, how do you update the ILS and other approaches for the runways and I guess the SIDs and STARs all need to be updated to point to those runways. Is there a plan to update these? Is there anything I can do to help? Thanks. Wyatt Watkins SWA1058 (Sim Southwest)

Hi,As you may know SU2 will bring with it major improvements in the SIDS and STARS syntax. So I think we must wait a little bit to start re-programming sids and stars. As to the runway database in FS9. There is, to the best of my knowledge, no way to alter the FS9 database. You may have read however that Richard is working on a possibility to update the FS9 database at a later point. So I think we shall have to live with it for now.Michael

Hi Wyatt,This is a problem. Especially if you are flying online on VATSIM, you would like to keep your AIRAC data as updated as possible. As you probably know the AIRAC is derived from real world data. But the FS9 world does not reflect any real world changes. That is mostly taken care of by addicted simmers who produces scenery fixes and the like. It was no problem in FS2k2 to add a runway and the nav aids related to it. But as far as I know there's a problem adding nav aids in FS9. (Please correct me if I'm wrong)One solution to your problem would be to find such an add-on to fix for your missing runway at KIAH.But if you are flying offline you could do as well with an older AIRAC and older SID/STARS to make it match the FS9 world.Cheers,

Like everybody else states... Great work.small question here, and I am almost sure the problem lies on my side, but for some obscure reason, when looking for runways for EGLL in the fmc, I can't find none. Checking the data however gives me the 5 runways for which an ILS is available. What am I doing wrong here...?anybody with a suggestion...?Luc 'Glaudrung' BrusselmansBelgium

Do you have the sid/stars files installed? they are available from here http://www.precisionmanuals.com/PAGES/737support.htm.I have also done a Heathrow sid/stars file in more detail they are available from here http://homepage.ntlworld.com/simon.butler2...usefulfiles.htmThere should also be 6 files in the navdata folder also. As I think the runways should show without the sid/stars files.hope this helpsSimon

Thanks for the reply Simon, well, to be honest, I havent installed the sid.stars data because with those installe, my fmc gives me a 'program-error' when I try to acces the dep/arr page. Without the sid/stars, my fmc gives me only a blank page but thats still better than an error.I will try to install your files and let you know. But not today cause I'm off to a concert of John Hiatt this evening.Should be fun for a change.Luc 'Glaudrung' Brusselmans

Simon,I couldnt control myself and I had to try it.Well, the problem has been solved by 1) adding your data and 2) I have found an error in a flightplan that was converted to the fmc format of the 737NG. Now I can rest easy and enjoy my concert. Thanks for the help. Really appreciated.Luc 'Glaudrung' BrusselmansBelgium

Hope you enjoy the concert, Is it just EGLL theres a problem with? maybe try re-installing the navdata. Are you completing both dep and arr airports on the route page before accessing the dep/arr page?My sid/stars files shouldn't give any errors with Airac 0311, there are a few changes planned in the next airac and I will update my files at the end of the month.Simon
