June 27, 200223 yr I'm just using the last version of NVMAX. I use the 29.42 drivers from Nvida and I am able to select the Vsync option from the desktop display options also. (I know NVMAX isn't supported any more, but for the few settings I change, it seems to work fine with my GF4 MX card.)I didn't realize that my post would be such a hot debate, I just wanted to let other users who have similar system specs as mine know what has worked for me.I can now fly my DF737, PIC767, FS1 Archer and FS1 C421 for the first time in a long time with good frame rates and smoothness. I was having a tough time getting rid of the stutters and they were always associated with a low frame rate count. That is when I decided to turn the Vsync option back on for my card and wow, it made a huge difference with my FPS and smoothness!Go figure??Now, I have heard that the refresh rate WILL NOT stay where you have it set at in Windows XP. I have heard this is a bug. So, not really knowing much myself about the Vsync setting, I can only assume it has something to do with this.Again, my contention here is not to debate how Vsync works or whether or not it affects frames rates, I can only post what my results happened to be.All that I know is, I have been able to enjoy flight simulator 2002 Pro much more since I have enabled the Vsync option to ON.Happy Simming, and thanks to all for your replies, they are very interesting!I will be going on vacation for two weeks starting tomorrow, so I will be unable to respond any further to this post until then. Thanks for the reply Scott,I'm not 100% sure but As far as I know the only Vsync options that can be selected from the desktop display options would be under the OGL tab not D3D, exactly where did you enable this from?Have a great time off! :)Thanks again,

IN the video settings available under desktop properties , under the Direct 3D tab is a button "More Direct3d" . Under that tab is where you can select on , off and auto for VSync.I can't honestly say that I have noticed any change -- but I have not tested it extensively -- just a quick fly around the new Oshkosh scenery and I did not use FRAPS . Maybe I will leave it set to on for a while and see if I can get an "overall" feel of any improvement.Barry
