frame rates

I got the PMDG 737 a couple of weeks ago but it seems to run really slow. Even at some of the larger default airports my frame rates bog down really bad- 3-4 fps with my settings high but not maxed out. I would think that I would get much better with my system: INTEL P4 3.0G CPU, INTEL D865PERL MB w/800mhz fsb, 512MB RAM,INVIDIA GeForce4 Ti4200, Sound Blaster AUDIGY, WIN XP. Is this typical performance for this system or do I have a problem?

Sir,The forum rules require that you sign your name to your post. Your compliance is appreciated ;)Do you have the latest patch installed, SU1-1? That should help FPS out.

If you don't have the 52.?? series nvidia drivers, go to www.nvidia.com and try them out. My system is not near as fast as yours, (I have an AMD XP2400 with 512MB Ram and a Geforce 4 Ti4200) and I get mostly mid teen frame rates with sliders in the middle, but with 3d clouds. I got a nice boost in framerates with the 52 series drivers as opposed to the 42 series. Good luck.Mike M.KDFWPS My brother has a P4 2.8 with 1 Gig of ram and a Geforce ti4600 and he gets 25-30 frames.

I've got a steady 20+ fps on a P4-2.8 with Ti4200.. it may be your settings.. Try 52.16 drivers, AA off in FS9, set to 2X in Ti4200 properties, along with 4XAF. Ground shadows off.. etc..Go easy on the weather.. and water effects..

Hi,A while back I had to reformat and re-install everything. I just thought I would wait for the SU2 to be released before installing the PMDG 737 as I thought it might not be long before it came out. It is still, understandably, a work in progress and I am still patiently waiting. But back when I ran the PMDG 737 on my system, I would get framerates of around 20 or so (give or take a couple), sometimes a little less, depends on where I was at in the sim. And all but a few of my sliders are maxed, the few that aren't are only down one notch. And believe me, I don't run with low system or display settings either. 1600x1200 resolution on my desktop and in the sim. 4x AA and 16x Quality AF.I would ike to suggest a couple things.1 - Although it is not 'needed', consider getting another 512 MB's of RAM. For one thing, it would allow you to turn up your AGP Aperture size.2 - Read and/or download my FS2004 and WinXP Optimization Guide found here...http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...topic_id=149511Although it is not 'all-inclusive' as they are just so many tweaks and possible settings out there, I feel that it is more than 'just a start'. It is actually a little more about tweaking your BIOS and WinXP than FS2004 and it needs a little updating and a few additions to it, but I still think it's fairly good and was pretty well received by folks who had not done a lot of tweaking yet. Anything in it refering to videocard settings is done based on setting up my Radeon 9700 Pro card. I just mention that because I see you have an Nvidia card. I did the guide at the request of Terblanche who wanted an all-in-one tweaking guide. Again, I think that is pretty much impossible, but I took my best shot, hehe.Good Luck,Jimhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/48086.jpg
