Videocard update????

Recommended Posts

Guest Floyd312

Hi Richard,I have used only nVidia for the last several years. It was only on my most recent purchase that I decided to give ATI a try (mainly because I chanced upon a good deal). In the past it was always an easy choice to go with nVidia. Now with the latest generation of ATI cards the choice is no longer that clear cut. IMO nVidia and ATI are both producing excellent products. I guess now I'm a fan of both ;)Don

:)Well, have to wait and see then if I maybe will turn out to be both an nVidia and Radeon fan as well!

May want to think about the 9800 XT with it's DDR vs DDR II memory, runs cooler, less likely that the card is going to fail from heat problems a couple of years from now as it is not quite as overstressed as the PRO versions if you are sold on ATI. More expensive, but it is likely to be with you for the next 4-5 years at least. Heat is still the number one killer of computer parts.

To me honest I doubt anyone would like a 9800 XT in 4-5 years, can only fantasize what kind of card we will have by then - probably nothing that runs slower than 5 GHz...;-)
